About The Solon Jazz Orchestra:

Solon Jazz Orchestra is the top Jazz ensemble at Solon High School. It is under the direction of Desmond Cervantez, who is in his 24th year at Solon. They compete regularly at several Jazz Festivals. They also have several home performances including their Coffee Shoppe Jazz Concert in the Spring.
Gerard Estella has toured the world as a sound technician with artists like Sting, Phil Collins, and Jo Dee Messina. He has composed for film, TV, stage performances, and recorded many albums. A New York native, he has made his home in Iowa for over two decades. Since that time, he has launched North Forty, a nationally-known creative agency, founded an award winning performing-arts group, SPT Theatre, and has recently begun working to develop new artists with his new company, GmixEast. He is also artist in residence at Brucemore, where he produces a variety of shows and events, including Cabaret in the Courtyard.
During the pandemic, Gerard lent his video production skills to the Corridor Jazz Project, enabling us to keep the program going with music videos during the time when an in-person concert wasn't possible. We're pleased to have a chance to showcase his performance talents, too!
