About West Branch:

2023 is the first year that West Branch has been able to field two jazz bands, because of a big influx from the ninth grade class. We hear a lot of eight graders will be coming up next year, so the program will continue to grow!

About Bill Bergren:

Bill Bergren is in the Corridor Jazz Project for the first time, but he is one of Iowa’s top trumpet players and jazz educators. Bergren has performed on three continents as lead trumpet in groups as diverse as The Glenn Miller Orchestra, Ray Charles, Ringling Brothers Circus, and on cruise lines. He has also been a long-time member of the Des Moines Big band and Orchestra Alto Maiz. As an educator Bergren maintains an active teaching studio and ran Synergy, a great jazz education program in Des Moines for many years. He’s taught at Drake University, Central College, and South Western Community College.
