About the CORRIDOR JAZZ PROJECT
By Dennis Green, KCCK General Manager
I still like physical media.

While I have my Apple Music and Spotify playlists just like the next person, I will never part with my CD and album collection. And if I really love a movie, I’ll buy it both as a download and Blu-ray, just so I really “own” it and don’t have to worry about some streaming service or movie studio clawing it back or changing it.
(Don’t get me started on how much I wish I had never let go of my original “Han Shot First” VHS edition of “Star Wars.”)
And at KCCK, we still are “physical first,” requesting CDs or albums from a recording industry that would much rather email us a download link.
Knowing this, it probably doesn’t surprise you that we hung on to releasing a Corridor Jazz Project CD long after most everyone had moved first to downloaded music, then to streaming.
This year we take a small step into the present, releasing the 2023 Corridor Jazz Project as a downloadable album, although there will be a small run of CDs, for others like me.
To make sure there is a quality physical memento of this unique program, we’ve expanded and upgraded this program, which will be distributed to schools as well as those who attend our concert.
2023 once again marks a year of growth for Corridor Jazz, as we welcome MidPrairie High School and director David Kunz to our merry little club, as well as first-time directors Chris Copeland, Ryan Middleton, and Steve Stickney. We have fresh faces among the guest artists, too. Welcome to Bill Bergren, Gerard Estella, Johnny Hartleip, Gary McCurdy, Ryan Middleton, Justin Sands, Cory Schmitt, Randy Swift, and Marvin Truong.
