The first disc will be available in October, allowing libraries, schools and businesses in sta n t access to new spaper reporting from a tru ly global perspective. The International H erald Tribune is a quality new spa per, providing its readers w ith a “window on the world”, and is renow ned for its im partial coverage of world events. M arga Beuth, Research Publications’ Sales Director, is particularly pleased to be able to announce this addition to th eir list of news products. “As RP spans the globe, so does th e International H erald Tribune as it provides im partial inform ation on international events. International H erald Tribune on CD-ROM will be avail able on subscription from October 1994 priced a t £750 for a year’s subscription. F ellow o f IM C is an aw ard th a t will be given to the three m ost outstanding contributions to th e develop m ent and progress of IMC. The A w a rd o f E xcellen ce is presented to an individual or organisation, th a t has provided outstanding leader ship in the field of document-based inform ation systems. L ea sin g o f office eq u ip m en t fell in 1993 Leasing of com puters and office equipm ent fell by 12% in 1993 to £1,545 million, according to a survey by the Finance & Leasing Association (FLA). This figure was m irrored by a 12% drop for hire pur chase which was down to £207 million la st year. Comments Tony Mallin, C hairm an of th e FLA: “These figures reflect the shift away from large scale invest m ent in m ainfram es. Businesses rem ain cautious as they emerge from recession and are relying more and more on netw orking system s to m eet th eir needs. The focus is now on software products which are used to enhance the capabilities of existing system s”
