The end of an era ...
On the 7th July 1994 Brenda Hubbard, General M anager of The Microfilm Shop, retires at an age in excess of 50.
Brenda has been involved in the microfilm industry for many years, starting out as Production M anager of Scanneg Microfilm in 1968. She was still with the company when it was acquired by Caledonian Reprographics and rem ained there until that, in turn, was sold to P.S.I.
Upon its foundation she joined Genneg Associates (now trading as The Microfilm Shop) and has been there ever since.
Brenda will be sorely missed by everyone at 'The Shop' and by most people in the industry who knew her or had dealings with her.
...but still the Shop gets bigger and better

On Monday 9th May 1994, The Microfilm Shop cut the first sod to start the construction of a new 700 sq/m (7,000 sq/ft) extension to its existing 500 sq/m (5,000 sq/ft) office and warehouse building. inconvenience to their many hundreds of customers in over 50 countries worldwide.
The ground floor of the new unit will house their j acket and cartridge m anufacturing plant and a large loading bay and cabinet storage area. The top floor will be a major area for stock th at is badly needed. On completion The Microfilm Shop will withdraw from 5 rented units in other parts of Nuneaton.

On the 5th May 1994 The Microfilm Shop was awarded full accreditation to the ISO 9002, EN29002, BS5750: Part 2: 1987. To get BS5750 has involved all staff at The Microfilm Shop in a lot of extra work and effort. Ask anyone who already has it or is working towards it. The initial task is now complete and w hat started off as a chore has proved to be an interesting exercise in honing and improving the office system, warehousing and management control structures.

Shrewsbury Technology had to shut down in August '93, after parent company Cray electronics transferred most of its business to Gosport.
Following the closure five members of staff bought out the parts of the firm which m anufacture microfiche readers and electronic physiotherapy equipment.
They then decided th at the new company - Shrewsbury Medical Ltd.- should also offer a contract development service for local firms.
Now, from its base at Atcham Industrial Estate, conveniently situated between Shrewsbury and Telford, ju st off the "old" A5. Shrewsbury Medical offers an array of high-tech products and services.
All five members of the firm's "core-team" are qualified engineers, and with the help of retained financial, medical and software consultants, they specialise in computer-aided engineering.
Their expertise enables them to offer services ranging from mechanical; structural design to electronic circuitry and software emulation.
The company's own products are sold through an existing distributors and there are hopes to expand the distribution network across Britain and overseas.
