Message from Pastor Alexandre Gueiros:
I greet all the brethren with the peace of the Lord Jesus. We continue our study on the attributes and titles of the Lord Jesus in the book of Revelation.
“The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants – things which must shortly take place. And He sent and signified it by His angel to His servant John.” Revelation 1:1
In this opening verse, we see that it pleased the Father to reveal the Person of the Lord Jesus, for this knowledge brings blessings to us.
When the Son of God became man, He left a complete legacy for our salvation. He came, as man, to accomplish the great Work of our redemption. Jesus rose again and gave us the assurance that one day we will
also rise with Him. The more we know the Lord Jesus, the more we recognize His power for our salvation.
The Gospels present the Lord Jesus as the One who left His glory and became man to carry out the work of salvation. However, in the book of Revelation, we see the Lord Jesus in eternity (Heaven). In eternity, Jesus receives

all the glory He had before the foundation of the world. Knowing this is essential so that we may be certain that Jesus reigns, for all authority has been given to Him in heaven and on earth to bring the work of our salvation to completion.
The consummation refers to the final part of salvation. Today, we have eternal life, but we do not yet have glorified bodies. When we receive our heavenly bodies and enjoy the glory of eternity, salvation will be fully consummated.
The book of Revelation is important because it presents Jesus in a different way. Tradition has often portrayed an image of a weakened, fragile Jesus. This figure became well known. But in Revelation, the description of Jesus is very different.
“He was clothed with a robe
dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.” Revelation 19:13.
When we turn to Jesus, we turn to the King of glory. Thus, Revelation is important because it allows us to understand Jesus glorified, not the image religion often taught us, but a glorified Jesus. [Pastor Amadeu Loureiro].
During His earthly ministry, Jesus appeared to John with dusty clothes from walking along the roads. He was the Jesus who had little rest, who spent nights in prayer to the Father, who suffered constant persecution. And suddenly, Jesus appears to John full of glory. John heard His voice as the sound of many waters. When Jesus speaks to our lives, we hear nothing else. At times, we are worried and anxious, but when we hear the Lord speak through a prophetic
word, everything else fades, and only His voice remains. He brings us comfort. Everything changes when we hear that voice speaking to His servants.
John saw Jesus with His face shining like the sun in its strength. Soon, we too will be with glorified bodies, beholding

this Jesus in glory.
John’s reaction, when he saw all this, was to fall at the feet of the Lord Jesus, without strength. There is no way to behold such a wonderful vision and remain standing.
“And in the midst of the seven lampstands One like the Son of Man, clothed with a garment down to the feet and girded about the chest with a golden band.” Revelation 1:13.
He saw the figure of Jesus as the Son of Man because Jesus came as a man, died as a man, without sin, and full of the grace of the Lord. But in eternity, with all power and glory, He identifies with our humanity as we are. Daniel had the same vision:
“Then to Him was given Dominion and Glory and a Kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him. His Dominion is an everlasting Dominion, which shall not pass away, and His kingdom the one which shall not be destroyed.” Daniel 7:14.
To Daniel, the Lord further said that the vision needed to be sealed.
“But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.” Daniel 12:4
But to John, the Lord said the opposite:
“And he said to me, “Do not seal the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time i sat hand.”
Revelation 22:10
This is the time we are living
in: the time of “soon,” for the rapture of the church is near. John saw Jesus with eyes like a flame of fire, which warm our soul.
John saw His feet like fine brass, refined in a furnace. Brass (bronze) represents the justice of God. In the forgiveness of sins, we see the righteousness of the One who believes—not the relative justice of man, but the absolute justice of God.
“His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace, and His voice as the sound of many waters.” Revelation 1:15
John also saw the seven stars, which refer to the action of the Holy Spirit throughout all the periods of the church. [Pastor Luiz Fernando Pitta].
It was mentioned how the Lord Jesus reveals Himself according to the needs of the church throughout its entire history, symbolized by the seven golden lampstands. The Faithful Church is one, but the seven lampstands emphasized that the Lord Jesus would be with His church at every moment of its journey.
“[...] I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen!”
Matthew 28:20
We are now living in the final phase of the church upon the earth. When we look at the letters, we see Jesus revealing Himself to each of the churches in a unique way.
To Ephesus, He says: “These things says He… who walks in the midst of the seven golden lampstands.” At each moment, His Spirit reveals Himself in a
special manner.
“The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.” Isaiah 11:2
To Smyrna, Jesus reveals Himself as “the First and the Last, who was dead, and came to life.” This was the need of a church being thrown into arenas and nailed to crosses. He was saying: “I also died, but I rose again.” And we know that Jesus is the firstfruits of those who sleep. He is the firstfruits of the harvest, but the final gathering will be for all His servants.
In Pergamos, He reveals Himself as the “sharp twoedged sword”: on one side inspiration, on the other side revelation. Thanks be to God; we have had the privilege of enjoying the Word that pierces even to the division of soul and spirit.
To Thyatira and Sardis, He also spoke. But in a special way, Jesus spoke to Philadelphia. Philadelphia means brotherly love. We live in this period where the love of the Lord is poured out upon the life of the church. This love unites us to one another. This love moves us to serve the brethren, to pray for the brethren.
In Philadelphia, the Lord presents Himself as “He who is holy.” Isaiah saw the seraphim before the throne of the Lord, singing: “Holy, Holy, Holy.” These three proclamations speak of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The Lord Jesus is holy. This inspires in us
the desire to live in holiness of life.
He adds: “These things says… He who is true.” The Lord Jesus presented Himself as the Truth. The Truth became man in the Person of the Lord Jesus. He is the One who has the key of David—the prophecy, that is, the revelation. This began to take place in a powerful way during the period of Philadelphia and Laodicea. The door of salvation opened to Africa, the Americas, and many other places.
Finally, in Laodicea, the Lord presents Himself as the Amen. The Amen is the One who confirms everything that was spoken by the Father throughout the Word of God. He is the Faithful and True Witness. One day, in Heaven, we will have the privilege of beholding the Lord Jesus. We will receive glorified bodies and dwell in the heavenly mansions that He has prepared.
In the book of Revelation, John sees a throne. Before the throne, there were four living creatures that represent the Lord Jesus.
“The first living creature was like a lion, the second living creature like a calf, the third living creature had a face like a man, and the fourth living creature was like a flying eagle.”
Revelation 4:7
These living creatures were full of eyes in front and behind, symbolizing the all-seeing gaze of the Lord.
“Before the throne there was a sea of glass, like Crystal. And in the midst of the throne, and
around the throne, were four living creatures full of eyes in front and in back.” Revelation 4:6 (added emphasis)
Nothing escapes the eyes of the Lord. They are eyes that see everything; eyes that guard His church, eyes that look from many angles. Unlike man, who can only see from one perspective, the Lord sees from all sides. It is the gaze of the Friend, of the Righteous Judge, of the One who comforts. They are the eyes that behold the suffering, the pain of the sheep, and that watch over our lives every day.
John describes the lion: Jesus is the Lion of the tribe of Judah. He is the King of the universe, who fights against our enemies.
The calf represents the servant of God, the faithful servant— the one who says: “Here I am, O God, to do Your will.” The calf speaks of labor. Jesus labored for our salvation.
“For since the beginning of the world men have not heard nor perceived by the ear, nor has the ye seen any God besides You, who acts for the one who waits for Him.” Isaiah 64:4
John saw the third creature with the face of a man. This is Jesus as man: the One who often identified Himself as “the Son of Man.” He knew what man was, and therefore He understands our pain. Jesus is the perfect Man.
Finally, the flying eagle is a figure of Jesus as God. He is the One who dwells in the heights, who inhabits between the cherubim. The eagle has an extremely sharp vision—able
to see from miles away. Jesus is in the highest heavens, yet He sees all things. He is exalted, yet He considers our smallness, to sustain and bless us.
John does not refer to just an eagle, but to a flying eagle. An eagle walking on the ground has no beauty; likewise, during His earthly ministry, Jesus had “no form or comeliness” (Isaiah 53:2). But now, like the eagle soaring, there is nothing more wonderful than Jesus glorified: Jesus as God.
In these four living creatures, the entire plan of salvation is revealed: Jesus as King, as Servant, as Man, and as God.
Jesus is the King who became a Servant, died as Man, and rose as God. [Pastor Marcelo Ferreira].
May the Lord bless us
