CHRISTIAN PROTEST BEFORE THE OAS Various Christian representatives showed their rejection to gender ideology, abortion and the decay of natural families during the 49th General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS). Many Latin American Christian organizations stood their ground for the defense of family and life during the 49th Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS), which was held in Medellin, Colombia, from June 27 to June 28, 2019. Five coalitions organized by the Ibero-American Congress for Life and Family, as well as other pro-life and pro-family groups, highlighted the importance of respecting every person’s life and showed their rejection of gender ideology. “We must acknowledge that some elements of education are the essential and exclusive responsibility of parents. It is them that have the duty and right to educate their children in values, as stated by various international regulations. This right and duty cannot be assigned to any institution. Schools should stop being a battlefield between family and the State,” said Patricia Cortés, representative of the Coalition for Education and Culture. She suggested to reinforce the provision of Article 26.3 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which states: “Parents have a prior right to choose the kind of education that shall be given to their children.” Milagros Jáuregui de Aguayo, representative of the Coalition for the Progress of Society, made an important intervention by denouncing the lack of interest of governments to preserve nuclear families, which are
