Lady Bulldogs fall to Whitewright and Pottsboro

They dropped the first game to Whitewright at home 8-3 and lost at Pottsboro Friday in a 7-6 nail-biter. On Tuesday, Railyn Murphy started in the circle and pitched four innings, allowing five earned runs on 11 hits. She struck out one batter and walked none. Ryleigh Craven pitched three innings in relief and allowed no runs on three hits while walking two and striking out four. Howe collected a total of six hits on the night with Craven logging a double and a triple. Kaitlyn Fuhr added two singles while the other two hits came from Chloe Scoggins and Kennadi Barrett. Fuhr scored two runs while Shelbee Taylor added a run. Craven had all three RBI for Howe. Again, it was the Lady Bulldogs defense that let them down with five errors in the game. Whitewright did not commit an error throughout the contest.

On Friday, the bats came alive at Pottsboro where Howe totaled 14 hits as a team. Kamry Snapp and Emery Snapp each had three hits on the evening, and they combined for three runs scored. Kamry, the youngest Snapp in the lineup had two doubles on the evening and drove in a run. Other players with multi-hit games were Jocee McCullar (2), Barrett (2), and Fuhr (2). Fuhr led Howe with two RBI. Craven went the distance for Howe with six innings pitched. She allowed six earned runs on 11 hits. She struck out eight and walked three. Howe trailed 4-1 heading into the top of the fifth inning but put a 3-spot on the board in the inning to tie the game. Pottsboro added a run in the bottom half to make it 5-4 and added two more in the sixth to make it 7-4. Howe, again, fancied a rally with two runs in the top of the seventh but left the tying run on base. Howe will travel to Bonham Tuesday and host Gunter on Friday.
