2020 was not what we wanted as a small local hometown publication When we purchased this publication nearly seven years ago, we did so with the local business community in mind first. The Howe economy had declined over the years in part to businesses not having an outlet to advertise their products. We stepped up to fill that need and give businesses a chance to talk to you without having to pay high-dollar ad prices with media companies that don’t serve the needs. At the same time, we immersed ourselves in our already burning love for our community and its members and have driven home the local flavor that news publications should provide instead of clickbait stories to ruffle feathers. But 2020 was a year that we never anticipated or even thought about. This publication thrives on local news about the school district and the city and local organizations. But when those were shut down, our ability to find anything going on locally was seriously hampered. In our time searching for answers to world problems, we discovered that large news outlets were not telling the whole story. And not only were they omitting items, but they were also
outright lying to the masses. The Howe Enterprise is only interested in publishing truths to readers. As an independently owned news publication, we are not controlled buy a corporate script to create a narrative. We understand more than ever how increasingly difficult it has become to receive the truth from corporate media outlets. Someone must get proper information to you and it’s a shame that it has to be a small publication such as the Howe Enterprise. We will not apologize for trying to bring truth as difficult as reality may be for some individuals. Until national media begins to truthfully share information, we will continue to share from outlets we know have reported credible and truthful information. We are looking forward to the day that we can just share localonly stories again. But we will not bury our head in the sand. We’re hoping this is the last month of Washington DC news that we feel like we need to share on a weekly basis. Our bread and butter is local news and that’s where we want to focus all of our attention.

The Howe Enterprise shared over 18,000 words throughout 2020 trying to get information to the public about the governmental corruption throughout the year. Our reward was mockery by some. The truth is a dangerous business.
