Cross Country season kicks off with meet in Commerce A warm and sticky morning saw massive amounts of runners show up at Commerce High School for the opening cross country season. Howe had several runners in the meet and Jake Fabacher finished first of his teammates and 63 overall of the 213 runners in the varsity boys 5,000-meter event. Fabacher's time was 19:17.29 which is two full minutes ahead of his best time a year ago. Finishing behind Fabacher were Brian Flores 22:23.25, Luke Hardey 23:21.11, Sergio Rico 23:48.87, Sabien Acevedo 25:03.78, and Kevin Bateman. Teams in the run were from all classifications as the winner of the varsity run was Daniel Friones of South Garland High School. Fabacher says he has his eye on the school record which was set in 2009 by Jonathan Queen with a time of 18:22. Marissa Agee, the only girl cross country runner for Howe finished 17 of 169 runners in the 3,200meter run. Her time was 13:12.90. The winner of the race was Abigail Bass of Melissa with a time of 11:51.87.

Academy finished 27 of 129 middle school runners in the 3,200 meters. The eighth grader's time Former Howe student Dax Foster, who now attends Texoma Christian was 14:13:13.
The next meet is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 7 in Sadler, Texas for the 2019 S & S Ram Run "FAST 5K and FURY 3200"-3rd
