Howe ISD tax lowering tax rate

Back in June Howe ISD had a public hearing on the tax rate which was proposed then of $0 037 per $100 of valuations for interest and sinking which is a penny less than a year ago The maintenance and operations tax rate from a year ago was $1 17 and this year will be $1 068 The overall tax rate will be $1 438 which is eleven cents lower than a year ago

"We're not trying to make money on our I&S (interest and sinking), but we're trying to make enough money to pay our bond," said Superintendent Kevin Wilson

With the rate, they'll have a $4,000 deficit but can cover that with a healthy fund balance
