Consultant meets with city about US 75 expansion to six lanes Recently Grayson County Judge Bill Magers has discussed an expansion of US Highway 75 to come from the Collin County line north to meet up with the six-lane expansion that is about to take place in Sherman. Construction is expected to begin in Sherman in January or February which will make for congested areas for Howe travelers that work or shop north of the city. For the next phase of the project, City Administrator Joe Shephard and Economic Development Director Monte Walker spoke with a consulting firm on possible options for the six-lane expansion through Howe that would likely take place in the year 2024. One of the biggest desires for TxDOT is to have one-way service roads along the highway. But Howe says they cannot see a feasible way for that to happen without additional interchanges that allow more flow from east to west. With the upcoming development at Blythe Road and 75, Shephard sees that intersection as one of the most crucial for reconstruction. With an approximate 1,400 homes stretching from Highway 75 to Highway 5 and throughout that land, the existing interchange will

not support that amount of traffic flow. Howe has also been pushing for an interchange to connect L.B. Kirby Avenue to Hall Cemetery Road for over 10 years and have made submissions to the ShermanDenison Metropolitan Planning Organization a number of times. But Walker says not only an additional interchange is needed, but an expansion of the FM 902 bridge and improved exit and entrance ramps also.

"We have ramp challenges for sure," said Walker. "The location of the exit ramps play a big role in commercial development of any city. We need to find the safest way possible for merging traffic that also allows for the improved value of Highway 75 property." The City of Sherman and the City of Denison has each reworked some of their key exit ramps to improve the economic structure of certain intersections. Unlike those cities, however, Howe can't cut a check to have those reworked. Also, with Howe's schools located on service roads, it will make things challenging with traffic flows in those areas, especially during school zone hours. One option is to have each school with its own additional lane.

Peter 2:23-25 - and while being reviled, He did not revile in return; while suffering, He uttered no threats, but kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously; and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed. For you were continually straying like sheep, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls.
