Lady Bulldogs take golf district championship

The Lady Bulldogs took the district championship last week at Stone Creek in Sherman. Their overall score of 436 outpaced Whitewright (459), Bonham (489), and Van Alstyne (538). Howe's Kriston Harris was the overall winner with a score of 98 which was six strokes ahead of second place. Teammate Molly Wilson finished third overall with a 108 round. The scoring team also saw Katie Grogan shoot a 109,

Brooke Robinson a 121, and Reagan Troxtell 123. The group team will now compete in the area round. The Howe boys golf team finished sixth overall with a team score of 442. The Bulldogs were led by Alex Kellum and Cody Brussow who each shot a 108. Jackson Wilson of Howe shot a 109 followed by Garret Johnson (117) and Gage Hendrickson (119.

Howe lost at Bells 12-2 on Tuesday. Mason Riggs was the starting pitcher and went five innings, striking out three. However, Bells' bats were hot and they nabbed eight earned runs on 11 hits. Dyson Dillard finished the game for Howe on the mound. Howe had eight hits with Riggs and Dillard each having two. Extra base hits were had by Dillard, Bryce Krantz, Riggs, and Jalen Thornton. On Friday, Howe had a late rally, but they couldn't overcome Van Alstyne, who took a 9-4 win. Dylan Hughs was the starting pitcher, going 5.1 innings, allowing four earned runs on six hits. Arturo Lowder pitched a

perfect two-thirds of an inning to finish the game. Howe was limited to four hits in the game, but Kyler Anderson and Thornton each had triples.

Lady Bulldogs lose to Bells, VA Howe took on one of the best teams in the state on Monday and was no-hit by the Bells Lady Panthers who eventually won the game, 15-0 in four innings. Cassidy Anderson was the starting pitcher and Trinity Williams followed in relief. On Friday, Howe lost to Van Alstyne, 12-0 and Chloe Scoggins got Howe's lone hit. The freshman Williams pitched all five innings for the Lady Bulldogs.
