Description A local company is looking for a CREW LEAD who will be responsible for planning and supervising the work of a group of unskilled and semiskilled workers in a variety of routine maintenance and laboring tasks
This position prefers a High School Diploma or Equivalent, and a minimum of 3 years of related experience
The assistant superintendent in Venus became the superintendent in Quanah ISD and recruited Witten to serve as the high school principal at Quanah High But after a year of high school, Witten says she wanted to get back to the elementary level students
"I'm excited to be back with the younger ones because the high school kids don't do hugs and I can't call them sweetie," said Witten jokingly "The thing I like better about elementary is the relationships you build with the parents In high school, it's hard to get the parents to come in "
Witten says that with Howe going to a third through fifth-grade
Continued from page 1 campus, it fits into her background as she's had similar experiences such as Cameron which was 3-5 and Venus which was 2-5
"I like that age, and I know it sounds weird, but I like the state testing and I like to get involved in that," said Witten
With the changes of bringing fifth grade back to the Roberts Street campus, Witten was meeting with team leaders last week in preparations of where the classrooms will be
"There's going to be a little bit of a facelift to this campus," said Witten
She says the favorite thing about being a principal are her interactions with the kids
"Whenever you make a difference with them, whether it's something you're working with them academically or whether there's a behavior situation, if you can help them find a solution to where they don't feel like they're alone in what their problems are, it's rewarding," said Witten
In twenty years in education, Witten says the challenges today are different than two decades ago "Socialization with students and their empathy toward other people is a lot different than it used to be," said Witten "With the use of cell phones and social media, people don't talk to each other anymore So they don't build those relationships. Therefore, when a negative situation happens, they don't know how to deal with that That not only spills over with their relationships with other students but also teachers It's something as a society that we need to work on "
Witten says that they are interviewing counselors and this will be a part of the guidance in students in the future
Tammy and Darrin Witten have two children Their son Aaron (26 in June) of Grand Prairie, graduated from the University of Arlington with an accounting degree Their daughter Abigail is attending Texas A&M University and is a member of the band
