Hall of Honor tickets on sale

Howe Hall of Honor will be held on May 6 at 6:30 pm in the Howe Chamber building. This year's inductees are Norman Dickey, Jimmy Bearden and Steve Simmons. The Howe Chamber will also present the annual community awards. Tickets are now on sale for $15 and can be purchased at Independent Bank, City Hall and the Chamber.
Mame Roberts' beautification efforts live on On Friday, the Texas beautification icon and Howe’s own Miss Mame Roberts’ photo went up on the wall that faces the highway she once planted crepe myrtles along back in the 1930s and 40s. Ironically, her photo is lifted up on Earth Day as her efforts to beautify Howe now live on nearly 40 years after her death. The sign is an awareness effort by the volunteer organization, Keep Howe Beautiful, which is a local affiliate
Howe PTA Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week is May 2-6. The Howe PTA is gearing up to provide the teachers and staff an amazing lunch. It will be Mexican food themed. She received attention from Life Magazine, Reader's Digest and was named "Woman of the Day" on May 14, 1949, on Eleanor and Anna Roosevelt's National Radio Program.
