Gifted and Talented News - 2016 Howe ISD Spring GT (Gifted and Talented) Nomination Window will be February 22 – March 4 at noon.

Students in kindergarten and second grade are automatically screened each year.

Nomination packets will be available beginning February 22, 2016 from the Howe Elementary and the Middle School campus offices.

Howe ISD's GT program serves students in the areas of language arts, math, science and social studies. It requires that a child be creative and original in expression, task committed, and willing and able to use higher-level thinking skills.

Parents and teachers of students in grades 1st, 3rd, 4th, at Howe Elementary and 5th – 7th at Howe Middle School, who wish to nominate their child/student to be screened for possible placement in the Howe ISD GT Program for the 2016-2017 school year may pick up a nomination packet from their campus office.

Questions may be addressed to shadden.tamela@howeisd.net. Nomination forms must be filled out completely and returned by Friday, March 4, 2016 at 12:00/noon to be considered.

One year ago, Major League Baseball's #66 pick and Howe's own Garrett Fulenchek made his first appearance on the hill at Howe's Bulldog Baseball Stadium. While he was wild in his one inning of work, fans got to see what a professional hometown athlete looked like from close up. Then freshman David Crees will probably remember the game more unfavorably than anyone else due to being drilled in the back by a Fulenchek 90 mph fastball.

Hargrove also chipped in two RBIs in the game.
