Maserati GranCabrio
Braking System
4. Braking System
In analogy with the other Maserati vehicles with the 4.7L engine, The GranCabrio is equipped with a high performance braking system employing dual-cast technology for the front brakes, a system developed in collaboration with Brembo. It has the following characteristics: •
Tandem master brake cylinder 25,4/27 mm, vacuum operated brake booster, separated hydraulic brake circuit using an X-pattern.
•
Front axle: monobloc aluminium 6-piston brake calipers with differential diameter (30/34/38 mm). Dual-cast brake disks, ventilated and perforated, diameter x thickness 360 x 32 mm. Brake pads Jurid 673 GG. Monobloc callipers are more resistant to distortion than 2-piece callipers; this means lighter materials can be used, in this case aluminium, reducing the weight of the component. Furthermore, the calliper is more efficient at all working pressures: this means a shorter brake pedal stroke.
•
Rear axle: monobloc aluminium 4-piston brake calipers with differential diameter (32/36 mm). Ventilated and perforated discs, diameter x thickness 330 x 28 mm. Brake pads Ferodo HP1000.
•
6 available colours for the brake calipers: black (standard), red, titanium grey, yellow, silver and blue.
•
Drum in Hat parking brake, electronically operated (EPB) with “auto-apply”, “drive away” and “pre-release” functions.
