Important information

Validity These operating instructions only apply to the truck crane with the works number that is on the cover sheet of these operating instructions.

This truck crane has been equipped at the factory with an adjustable Working Range Limiter by Deutsche GROVE GmbH.

1.1.2

Scope of these operating instructions These operating instructions only describe the menus and displays on the Crane control display that are available with additional equipment with the Working Range Limiter and therefore supplement the standard GMK 4075 operating instructions.

Safety instructions Danger of accident due to unsupervised situations!

The working range limiter only serves as an additional safety device. Brake the crane movement in time before the obstacle, do not knowingly drive into the shutdown area. You, the crane operator, continue to have the responsibility of supervision for the working area, so that you can react accordingly to the occurance of incidnents that are not electronically monitored.

Danger of accidents due to limit values having been set too low When entering the limit values, be aware that even after switching off the motor movement can occur that would bring the load into the shutdown area (e.g. due to load swing or bend of the boom). For this reason, enter the limit value to the object with sufficient safety distance. .

Danger of accident because the legally prescribed safety distance was not observed!

Even when the working range limiter is switched on, always observe all safety distances according to the country's legal regulations (e.g. concerning electrical overhead cables).

Scope of Working Range Limiter Truck cranes that are equipped with a working area limiter have a supplemented crane control programme. Therefore, additional symbols appear on the Crane control display and additional submenus can be called up.

In these submenus, you can programme in four different limitations for the truck crane's operating area: – a maximum total height that cannot be exceeded, – a maximum working radius that cannot be exceeded, – a maximum permissible slewing angle within which may be operated, – the position of individual objects that may not be touched.

Operating Working Range Limiter Operation of Working Range Limiter is carried out in the sub-menu Working Range Limiter. This submenu is called up on the Crane control display from the main menu.

• If the Display Crane control displays another menu, press the Exit submenu/ entry mode switch so often (

The indicator lamp's colour (2) displays whether monitoring is activated or not: red: monitoring is switched off green: monitoring is switched on

Read entered limiting values

You can check in the Working Range Limiter submenu which limiting values are entered for the individual monitoring functions.

All illustrations in these operating instructions use metric measuring units.

Depending on the country in which you are working, the display can also be in US units of measurement; conversion is carried out at the factory.

The displays 1 Maximum/Current total height 2 Maximum/Current working radius 3 Maximum/Current slewing angle show you both the maximum set value and the current value.

– The values surrounded in red (displays (1) and (2) upper value, display (3) upper and lower value) always show the maximum set position.

– The values surrounded in blue (displays (1) and (2) lower value, display (3) middle value) always show the values that correspond to the momentary position of the boom and the superstructure (current value).

The displays surrounded in blue only show the current value if the manual entry is switched off. When the manual entry is switched off, the value can be changed in the display as desired; Entering limiting values manually, p. 1 - 17.

Entering a limiting value for a maximum total height This section presupposes that the value for the maximum total height is unknown and therefore describes the input by starting the switching point. For this, the following prerequisites must be fulfilled:

à Entering limiting values manually, p. 1 - 17, – total height monitoring is switched off; à Switching monitoring off,

– manual entry is switched off; p. 1 - 20.

If the monitoring is switched on, you cannot start any larger limiting value as the monitoring would switch off crane movement.

If manual entry is switched on, you cannot adopt the values for the currently started switching point.

You can cancel the following entry at any time by pressing the Exit submenu/ entry mode ( ) button once. The red bar under the selected entry goes out.

• Press the button near the symbol Maximum total height entry (1) once.

A red bar appears under the Maximum/current total height display (2).

The lower value (surrounded in blue) in display (2) now shows the current total height.

• Move the boom head without load to just in front of the switching point. During this the lower value changes continuously.

• Adopt the lower value as the limiting value by pressing the Confirm entry button ( once.

Entering limiting values for maximum slewing angles This section presupposes that the values for the maximum slewing angles are unknown and therefore describes the input by starting the switching points. For this, the following prerequisites must be fulfilled:

Definition: A displayed 0° angle means that the superstructure is turned backwards (is therefore in the 0° to the rear working position. A complete rotation out of this working position is separated into two semicircles for the display: – angles in right semicircle are displayed positively (0° to +180,0°), – angles in left semicircle are displayed negatively (0° to –179,9°).

In the Maximum/current slewing angle display (2), the middle value (surrounded in blue) displays the angle for the current position of the superstructure.

The upper value (surrounded in red) displays the set value for slewing angle A. The lower value (surrounded in red) displays the set value for slewing angle B.

• To enter slewing angle A or B, press the button next to the Maximum slewing angle entry submenu symbol (1) once.

Presentation of slewing angles

In the Maximum slewing angle entry submenu, the entered slewing angles A and B are presented pictorially in the Limited slewing angle display.

The current boom position is shown with a cross (1) and constantly changes when the superstructure rotates.

Both slewing angles A and B are displayed directly and represent the limits of the permissible slewing range.

The permissible slewing range is the angle from A clockwise to B (approx. 270° in the diagram).

Slewing angle A is the slewing movement limit within the permissible slewing range to the left.

Slewing angle B is the slewing movement limit within the permissible slewing range to the right.

Risk of accident due to defectively set slewing angle.

Observe the definitions of slewing angles A and B when starting the switching points.

– When the value for slewing angle A is adopted, the switching point must always be located to the left next to the boom.

– When the value for slewing angle B is adopted, the switching point must always be located to the right next to the boom.

If you swap the values for slewing angles A and B, the switching points are then located within the permissible slewing range.

Entering the slewing angle

In the Maximum slewing angle entry submenu, you can enter the values for slewing angles A and B individually one after the other.

• Select the slewing angle to be entered. For this, press the button next to the Select slewing angle A (2) or Select slewing angle B symbol (3).

A red bar appears under the selected display (e.g. Maximum/current slewing angle A (1)).

Rotate the superstructure to just in front of the switching point: – If you have selected slewing angle A, the switching point must be located on the left next to the boom head (cross 4).

– If you have selected slewing angle B, the switching point must be located on the right next to the boom head.

In the selected display (e.g. Maximum/current slewing angle A display (1), the lower value (surrounded in blue) displays the angle for the current position of the superstructure.

• Adopt the lower value as the limiting value by pressing the Confirm entry button ( once.

The upper value in the display (surrounded in red) now shows the newly set slewing angle (e.g. slewing angle A = –140°).

• Enter the required values for slewing angles A and B.

• Change to the Working Range Limiter submenu (1 x

Enter point data for objects This section presupposes that the parameters for the point data of the objects are unknown and therefore describes the input by starting the switching points. For this, the following prerequisites must be fulfilled:

When the monitoring functions are switched on, the required crane movements for starting individual points can be switched off.

If manual entry is switched on, you cannot adopt the values for the currently started switching point.

Presentation of defined objects

The Point data for objects entry submenu opens. All entered points are presented pictorially in the Limitation by object display.

All entered points are represented by a cross and numeration in the Limitation by object display (e.g. point 1).

Points that are connected to one object are fastened with lines (e.g. points 1 to 3 and points 5 and 6).

The pictorial presentation corresponds to the values in the Point data display (7). Every point is defined by two values: – by the angle for positioning the superstructure and

– by the working radius.

Selecting and deleting point data

You can delete selected point data to change objects or delete all point data to define new objects.

Selecting point data Point 1 is selected after the submenu has been opened and is displayed with a blue background.

By pressing the buttons under the symbols Select previous point (9) or Select next point (8), you can select any point.

Deleting selected point data

• Press the button under the symbol Delete selected point data (7) once.

After deleting, the values next to the deleted point are put on 0.0 (e.g. next to point 2).

The deleted point goes out in the Limited objects display.

If the point was integrated into an object, the object is now only comprised of the rest of the successive points. When no successive points are available anymore, the object is deleted (as in the example).

Single points (e. g. 1 and 3) are not monitored as objects!

Deleting all point data

• Press the button under the symbol Delete all point data (9) once.

On the symbol (9) appears the symbols

Ö or ö.

• To delete all values, press the Confirm entry button (Ö).

• To cancel the process, press the Exit submenu/entry mode button once (ö).

Entering point data

To enter point data, you can move the boom head to the corresponding position and directly adopt the current data for any point.

Select the first point to be entered (e.g. point 1).

• Move the boom head to the first point for the object.

The Current point data display (9, surrounded in blue) changes continuously at the same time.

• Adopt these values (9) as point data by pressing the Confirm entry button (

Ö) once.

The values will now be displayed next to the selected point 1.

The Limitation by object display shows a cross in the corresponding position with the designation 1 for point 1.

The first point is then entered.

The point is only displayed when it is within the maximum radius. If needed, you could enlarge the maximum radius so that the point will be shown.

• Enter the data for the next limiting point of the object in the same way as for point 1 (e.g. for point 2).

As soon as you adopt the data for a new point, this point is integrated into the object and connected with a bar.

If you wish to enter a second object, you must delete the data for the following point or enter as 0.0 value (e.g. for point 3, data = 0.0).

The next point you enter now is the first point for a new object (e.g. point 4).

Therefore you have the entry options for the following objects:

– 1 object with a maximum of 8 points or – 2 objects with a maximum of 7 points altogether or – 3 objects with 2 point each.

Entering limiting values manually If you know the values for the switching points, you can also enter these values manually.

Limiting values for total height, working radius or slewing angle

In all entry menus is the symbol Manual entry on/off. After the menu in opened, manual entry is always switched off.

• To switch manual entry on and off press the button under the Manual entry on/off switch (1).

After pressing the button, the background colour of the symbol changes: Background yellow:

• Select the display for entry (e.g. the Maximum/current total height display, 1).

• Switch on the manual entry.

The continuous display of this value is then switched off and the Entry rotary switch (2) is active.

You can now enter the value surrounded in blue directly into the selected display (1).

The continuous display of this value is now switched off.

• Press the Confirm entry button once (Ö) to adopt the value as a limiting value.

In display (1), the upper value (surrounded in red) now shows the newly set limiting value.

• Switch off the manual entry.

In display (1), the lower value (surrounded in blue) now continuously shows the value for the current position of the boom position and the superstructure.

Manual point data entry

The Manual entry on/off symbol is located in the submenu Entry of point data for objects.

• To switch on manual entry press the button under the Manual entry on/off symbol (1).

The symbol has a yellow background.

• To switch off manual entry, press the Exit submenu/entry mode button once (2).

The symbol (1) has a black background.

• Select, for example, point 1 on the Point data display.

• Switch on manual entry.

The Current point data display no longer continuously shows the current point data.

A red bar appears under value (9) for the angle; this value is now selected for entry.

• With the Enter rotary switch (11) enter a new value (9).

• To adopt this value, press the Confirm entry

• If you press the button under the Manual entry on/off symbol, the red bar moves to under the value for the working radius in display (9).

• Enter the new value and confirm it.

1.4.7

Switching monitoring on and off

After the ignition is switched on, all monitoring functions are switched on that were on before the ignition was switched off.

Danger of accident due to erroneously set limit values!

If, during starting operations or after entering new limit values, you switch on the monitoring, then make sure that the settings for the limit values are correct. Start up the limit value slowly and check whether the movement has been switched off at the right time.

If necessary, enter new values with a larger safety distance.

After switching on the monitoring, all of the driving gears' speeds are limited to a maximum of 50 %. This is also valid for the driving gear where higher values are set in the submenu Driving gear speeds. Limits under 50 % continue to be active. A limit between 30 and 50 % is recommended for the slewing gear speed.

The monitoring is switched on with the buttons under symbols (4) to (7).

When the monitoring is switched off, the background to the corresponding symbols is black.

• Press the button under the desired symbol once (e.g. under symbol (6) for monitoring the slewing angle).

The background to the symbol is now yellow and the monitoring is switched on.

Those limiting values are monitored that are entered in displays (1) to (3) Read entered limiting values, p. 1 - 8). (

Working Range Limiter 1.4 Operating Working Range Limiter

The Working Range Limiter display presents the limiting values pictorially. As soon as a monitoring function is switched on, the Working Range Limiter display shows: – a red circle for the working radius, – a sector of a circle for the permissible slewing angle (A – B), – points joined by lines for monitored objects (e.g. (1 – 3) or (4 – 6)), – a cross (7) for the current boom position.

There is no presentation for the total height.

H Switching monitoring off

When the monitoring is switched on, it is impossible to drive behind a defined object.

After the ignition is switched on, all monitoring functions are switched off that were off before the ignition was switched off.

The monitoring is switched off with the buttons under symbols (4) to (7).

When the monitoring is switched on, the background to the corresponding symbols is yellow.

• Press the button under the desired symbol once (e.g. under symbol (6) for monitoring the slewing angle).

The background to the symbol is now black and the monitoring is switched off.

The optical presentation for this monitoring goes out on the Working Range Limiter display (e.g. the circle section for monitoring the slewing angle).

Displays (1) to (3) show the last entered limiting value, even when monitoring is switched off. The black symbol is always the standard for switching off.

Shutdown with Working Range Limiter When one or more monitoring functions are switched on and the switching point has been reached, shutdown occurs via the safe load indicator.

When shutdown occurs via the Working Range Limiter: – the movements that were carried out closer to the switching point are Switched-off crane movements, p. 1 - 21, switched off;

Bypassing shutdown

If the monitoring of the Working Range Limiter is switched off after shutdown has been carried out in the Working Range Limiter submenu, the shutdown is maintained for safety reasons The crane movement shutdown can only be overridden at the LMI (by pass key).

When you press the Override key-operated push button, shutdown of crane movements listed in the table above is bypassed (switched off).

Risk of accidents from overriding a shutdown.

Override the shutdown only if absolutely necessary and if you can clearly observe the danger zone. Remember that, because of boom bending, the overall height of the truck crane increases when putting down the load.

Error messages from shutdown with Working Range Limiter When there is a shutdown from the Working Range Limiter, the Information display shows one of the following error messages.
