13.1 Using the swather

Danger!

When raising/lowering the rotors, make sure that nobody is in the pivoting area. There is a risk of injury. – Direct all persons out of the danger area. – Switch off the machine at once, if necessary. – If necessary, interrupt the control unit with the “STOP” key. Never work on the machine while the tractor's engine is running. – Switch off the engine. – Remove the ignition key.

Caution!

Do not engage the PTO shaft before the machine has reached at least the headland position.

• Before starting work: Check every time before operation, page28. • Before lowering to the working position: Before lowering into the working position, page57. • Lower the rotors into the working position –see Working position with ISOBUS Terminal, page59 and/or Working position with operating terminal, page62. • Before starting field work: Before starting field operation, page64.

• Engage the PTO with engine at idling speed. • Subsequently increase the PTO speed.

Observe the max. permissible PTO speed –see Specifications, page20. • The ground speed depends on the respective operating conditions (terrain and surface conditions, nature of the crop, etc.).

3 Danger!

Danger of the tractor and machine overturning when the rotors are raised on a slope. – Take special care when travelling across a slope with raised rotors.

Minimum working width

Attention!

If the working width is too small, the adjustment across the direction of travel can no longer be ensured. This may damage the rotary swather. – Extend the front outrigger at least by distance(X). – Do not adjust to less than the minimum working width.

From Serial No. 60501858 the adjusting aid(3) is fitted. The minimum working width is given, when the pointer of the adjusting aid(3) lines up with edge(2) of the outer telescoping frame. • Extend the front outrigger at least by distance (X). Adjusting distance(X)=10 cm (Fig.3)
