Disassembly of the Primary Shaft

BP95F194 Put the primary shaft on the bench so that the end with the bearing attached is up. Remove and discard the snap ring. A replacement snap ring is provided in the overhaul kit.

BP95F196 Remove the bearing and set aside to be examined later.

Install a bearing separator under the gear as shown. DO NOT install the bearing separator between the gear and the bearing. Install an acceptable puller on the bearing separator. Use a shaft protector between the puller and the end of the primary shaft. Use molydisulfide grease to lubricate the shaft protector and the end of the puller. Pull the bearing from the primary shaft. BP95F197 Remove and discard the thrust washer. A replacement thrust washer is provided in the overhaul kit.

Remove the small gear. BP95F198

BP95F199 Turn the primary shaft over so that the large gear is down. Tap the gear with a soft hammer or use a press to remove the gear from the primary shaft. BP95F200 Install a bearing separator under the lip of the bearing race as shown. Install an acceptable puller on the bearing separator. Use a shaft protector between the puller and the end of the primary shaft. Use molydisulfide grease to lubricate the shaft protector and the end of the puller. Pull the bearing race from the primary shaft and discard. This bearing set will be replaced by parts in the overhaul kit.
