OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
STARTING THE ENGINE WARNING: Before you start the engine, always sit in the operators seat, fasten the seat belt, apply the parking brake, and make sure the transmission direction control and digging control (if equipped) is in NEUTRAL. Give a warning to all persons around you that you are starting the engine. SC037
2. Adjust the seat and fasten your seat belt. Make sure you can push the foot pedals completely down with your back against the seat cushion. 3. Make sure the transmission direction control is in NEUTRAL and the parking brake is applied.
NOTE: If the engine starts and then stops, do not engage the starter motor again until the starter motor stops turning. DO NOT operate the starter motor more than 30 seconds at one time. Let the starter motor cool for at least two minutes before you actuate the starter motor again.
4. Turn the key switch to the ON position and check the instrument cluster.
6. After the engine starts, check the in st ru men ts to m ak e s ur e th e indications are correct. Run the engine at approximately 1200 RPM with the transmission in neutral until the engine coolant temperature is warm.
NOTE: If the weather is cold, See Cold Weather Starting in this manual.
NOTE: Operate the machine at reduced loads until all systems reach operating temperature. This is very important during extremely cold weather operation to protect both the engine and hydraulic systems. See Operating in Cold Weather in this manual.

5. Turn the key switch to the START position until the engine starts, then release the key.
