6.1.2. STEERING UNIT COMPONENTS ASSEMBLY

1. Fit the spool (2) into the sleeve (1), and position the spool so that its hole is aligned with the centering spring slots. Set the direction referring to the stamped mark as shown in the figure.

2. With the centering spring aligned, adhere one side of the spring closely to the groove of a special service tool, and insert the centering spring. Align each spring (3 EA) with their convex surfaces touched each other and their notched grooves facing downward.

3. While holding the other side of the centering spring using pliers, insert the spring into the slot hole with a special service tool still attached on the opposite side. Position the spring to the end through the sleeve and spool.

4. Align the spool and sleeve so that their ends are parallel, and insert the pin into the sleeve hole not to be protruded.
