Da Costa to hold Summer Family Social on Aug. 26

DA COSTA – Da Costa Lodge will meet July 11 at 6 p.m. at the Hall.
The Summer Family Social will be held Aug. 26. Doors open at 5 p.m. It will include a meal, pin presentations, a silent auction along with fellowship and the public dance.

The public dance will be held from 8 p.m. to midnight with music by Texas 361. The meal and dance are free for members and for guests/non-members the fee is $15 and includes the meal and dance.
The lodge will collect canned goods for VCAM and school supplies to be donated to the Bloomington ISD. Don’t forget silent auction items are needed. Proceeds benefit the Scholarship Fund. Look for RSVP infor- mation in next month’s article.
The lodge honored Flag Day with a presentation of its history and a prayer by President Sayra Boop at the Da Costa Volunteer Fire Department’s annual fundraiser on June 10.
The lodge has awarded two scholarships. Recipient Madalynn (Maddie) Nunez is the daughter of Refugio and Stacy (John) Nunez. Maddie is a graduate of Faith Academy and plans to attend the University of Houston-Victoria with hopes to attend A&M in the future to earn a degree in animal science with an emphasis on beef production.
She is seeking a business degree for her goal of operating a Brahman ranch. She already has five head of cattle and wants to gain the skills to run a productive business. Maddie participated in the Hermann Sons Life dance program for two years and attended Camp for four years. She is also involved with 4-H.
Recipient Carsynn Shilinga is the daughter of Cory and Cindy (Stary) Shilinga. Carsynn is a graduate of Industrial High School. She plans on attending Victoria College to pursue a degree in respiratory therapy. Carsynn was a dancer with the Da Costa School of Dance for many years.
Upcoming lodge meeting dates are Sept. 12 and Nov. 14. All meetings are at 6 p.m. at the Hall.
Upcoming public dances are July 8 with the Red Ravens from 8 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. with a patriotic theme. Playing Aug. 26 is

Houston plans meeting at Don Jose’s Plum will meet July 10
WEST POINT – Plum Lodge will meet July 10 at 5 p.m. at the Prairie Valley Schoolhouse. Dinner will be provided. Members are invited for fun and fellowship.
Linda Poncik accepted the nomination for vice president of the lodge at the April meeting.
The lodge recognized April birthday celebrant Jackie Wessels.
Members enjoyed barbecue sandwiches and cake following the meeting.
The May meeting was cancelled due to bad weather and a June meeting was not held.
HOUSTON – Houston Lodge’s next meeting is Monday, July 10, at Don Jose’s Restaurant at 5305 Antoine Drive in Houston.
At the May meeting, Agent Gary Falkenberg discussed annuities.
Lavina Patterson reported sending a sympathy card to the family of Clyde Muske who brought Milton Fuchs to meetings for several years. A moment of silence was held for him.

The picnic was discussed. Games will include passing the cards, Bingo, candy-jar guessing games, dominoes and cards.
Eight mothers were in attendance, and each received $5 for Mother’s Day.
Happy Birthday was sung to May celebrant Jack Manchack.
Attendance-drawing winners were Rebecca Rabon, Samantha Thomason, Darlene Ellison, James Ellison and Rueben Heldberg.
