Doris Mae Korb was born in Bicknell, Indiana January 3, 1932 to William Riley & Ruby Vale Privett. She was the eldest daughter of six children. William Riley (Lois) Privett and Donald Edward (Barbara) Privett preceded her in death. Surviving siblings include Harold Lee (Alicia) Privett, Wanda Rose (Jim-deceased) Evans and Naomi Ruth (Joe) Jamison. For many years, Doris was an active member of the Bicknell Church of the Nazarene and completed many trainings for young women in leadership & evangelism. Doris was employed by Sarkes Tarzian Industries, Bloomington, Indiana building TV tuners from September 1952-July 1980. After the closing of Sarkes Tarzian she was employed at Dantec, Inc. from 1980-1983 until that business closed also. Doris spent every weekend in Bicknell with her mother, Ruby Vale Privett, and spoiling her many nieces and nephews. That number has grown to 3 generations of nieces and nephews that all count Doris as a “favorite aunt”. Annual escapades included mushroom, strawberry & persimmon picking, a special bunny cake at Easter, each child receiving a special Christmas gift, a balloon drop for New Year’s Eve & later fishing in Greene County It was at Sarkes Tarzian that she met the love of her life, David J. Korb. They were married May 5, 1984 and resided on their 80-acre tree farm, GraceGlen, in rural Greene County. Their interest included: conserving natural resources by planting evergreen trees, observing wildlife, encouraging native plant growth, visiting state parks and especially welcoming family and friends. One of Doris’s favorite pastimes was caring for her lawn. She & David were also avid IU fans. Doris loved shirts with 2 pockets, blue jeans & her trusty sweater.
