Museum Road Rally

Rally-Master Tim Macsay explains the rules of the Hendricks County Museum’s annual Road Rally.

Looking for a fun road trip? Look no further than the Hendricks County Museum’s 7th annual road rally, the “Great Chocolate Caper Tour Road Rally,” Saturday, October 9, rain or shine. No, it is not timed event. No, you do not have to have a special car of some kind. All you need is a sense of adventure and a love of driving country roads. On October 9, at 8 a.m. you can register for $10 per car (your donation to the museum) at the parking lot across from the Hendricks County Museum in Danville at the corner of Washington and Broadway Streets. Instructions from “Rally-Master” Tim Macsay will begin at 8:20 a.m. Bring a clipboard for holding the driving instructions, a pencil for taking notes, and a compass for directional help. After hearing Tim’s explanation, off you will go, following the easy-to-follow directions he has prepared. Why the Chocolate theme? It’s a mystery – come and find out! Museum board member, Deanna Hindsley, said, “I am always surprised by the route Tim designs. He takes us through places I’ve never seen, and I have lived in Hendricks County all my life!” The instructions will highlight special landmarks which you may note, and 1st, 2nd and 3rd fun prizes will be given upon return to the museum parking lot. A quick tour of the museum is offered after the road trip. Then, you may want to join the group at Mayberry Café upstairs, where you can share your experiences. The Hendricks County Museum building served as the residence of the Hendricks County Sheriffs and their families from 1866 to 1974, with the county jail in the basement. It is furnished as it would have been in the late 1800s to early 1900s and holds the stories of the beginnings of our county. It is open Fridays and Saturdays 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. For more information, go to www.hendrickscountymusuem.org. ______________________________________________
