Activities at Danville Friends
Danville Friends Church, 45 N. CR 200 E., will host an Outdoor Worship & Cookout on Sunday, August 22, at 10:30 a.m. Music will usher in Pastor Drew Drage to deliver the message. Afterwards we will all enjoy a wonderful cookout of hot dogs & hamburgers complimented with homemade dishes pitched in by our Friendly Service Circle ladies! Please bring your family and join us for worship, food and a corn hole tournament! Also, we must thank everyone for another wonderful week of parking your vehicles during the Hendricks County 4-H Fair! It was so grand to see the familiar faces and to make new friends. Mark your calendars for our annual Chicken & Noodle Dinner Saturday, November 6th! Once again we are so excited to serve Danville and surrounding communities with this wonderful tradition complete with delicious homemade desserts. Also complimenting our dinner will be quilts by our Friendly Service Circle ladies and some invited craft presentations sure to please all of you, so please join us. Our clothing ministry, New Beginnings, Is available 24X7 by calling 317-696-0962. We have clothing and more for the entire family plus school supplies, toiletries etc. We are helping Family Promise by collecting comforters and blankets right now for the many homeless families. If you have any laying around that you can spare, please drop them off at church on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays between 9 am and noon. Thank you so very much. ‘Lil Bit of Heaven, animal rescue, will be having their fall garage sale here at Danville Friends on October 1st (8 - 3) and 2nd (8 - noon) with great merchandise and greater prices! Duke Energy and the Duke Energy Foundation in Hendricks County support vibrant and growing communities through philanthropic giving and sponsorship activities. Here are their activities in Hendricks County since May 2021: Brownsburg Public Library, Green Connections – The Brownsburg Public Library was awarded a $2,500 Duke Energy Foundation grant. The library will use the funds to purchase a solar powered picnic table, which will enable patrons to ‘plug in’ and power their devices with solar energy. Hendricks Civic Theatre – Duke Energy is a sponsor for the 2021-22 season of the Hendricks Civic Theatre, which kicks off in October. The season will include six shows, concluding in the summer of 2022. Hendricks County 4-H Fair – Duke Energy is the sponsor of the Small Animal Pavilion at the 2021 Hendricks County 4-H Fair. The fair runs from July 18-24 in Danville Hendricks County EMA – As part of our effort to promote storm preparedness, Duke Energy donated storm radios to the Hendricks County Emergency Management Agencies for distribution to residents. MADE @ Plainfield – MADE @ Plainfield hosted a ribbon cutting for the new facility located next to the Plainfield High School. MADE in Plainfield is a multi-organizational collaboration, bringing continuing education to Hendricks County. Duke Energy will provide an annual grant to provide financial support for up to eight Hendricks County students pursuing certification and/or degrees to participate in remediation courses. These remedial education classes fill skill gaps needed to enroll into college-level coursework. Main Street Plainfield – Main Street Plainfield held a celebration to officially recognize the organization’s registration with Indiana’s Office of Community and Rural Affairs. Duke Energy is a founding supporter with a 2019 grant to begin the organization’s structure and administration. Since then, Duke Energy has provided support for local business COVID relief and funded the new “Welcome to Plainfield” mural. Technology Crimes Against Children training, Plainfield – Duke Energy provided Susie’s Place with a sponsorship to support this training seminar for direct service providers and other public safety officials. Susie’s Place is a child advocacy center providing services to children experience abuse in Hendricks, Vigo and Monroe Counties. (M o r e O b i t u a r i e s CHAD DAVIS, 48, passed away August 7, 2021. Chad was known for his wicked sense of humor, being an outstanding cook and love for his family and brothers. For the past few years Chad found great joy in riding his motorcycle, and playing endless games of fetch with his loyal canine companions Roxy and Duke. Chad was known for showing up for his friends and family and always being the life of the party. Left to cherish his memory and continue his legacy are his wife, Heather Heiser-Davis and children, Xander Davis and Remy Davis. A celebration of life will be held at the Eagles Lodge 5556 US 40 Plainfield, IN 46168 on August 25, 2021 from 5 until 8 p.m. The family kindly asks that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made for the education of Chad’s children. ________________________ PAT SCHRADER, 92, of Danville, passed away August 15, 2021, at Miller’s Merry Manor. Pat was born March 10, 1929, in Indianapolis, to the late John Carlisle and Varideen Corrin (Cullom) Dehn. Pat worked for Peoples Bank as a bank teller. She was attended Oak View Baptist Church in Okeechobee, Florida. She was a member of Daughter of American Revolution and Genealogical Society. She also enjoyed reading a good novel. Pat loved and adored her family especially all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Walter Glenn Schrader, daughter, Patty Jo Brooks; and sister, Peggy Jo Dehn. Survivors include her son John C. (Shelley) Schrader; brother, James (Louise) Dehn; grandchildren, Travis Schrader, Ashely (Josh) Derbyshire, Alycia (James) Parker, and Derek (Heather) Brooks; and great grandchildren, Mason, Steele, Hannah, Trinidi, and Cody. DEBORAH M. JONES, 69, Indianapolis, passed away August 11, 2021. She had retired from Carolina Narrow Fabrics. Debbie enjoyed the ocean, collecting sea shells and all things of nature. She was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law Amber Lewis. She is survived by her husband David Jones; children Angel Ernstes (husband David), Wendy Rather (husband Josh), Eddie Lewis, Shannon Pool (husband Joe) and Blake Jones (wife Leslie); brother Jim Fields (wife Crystal); 22 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Services were Tuesday, August 17, at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, with burial following in the Brownsburg Cemetery. ________________________ ` MARILYN MEDORA BROWN, of Avon, passed away on July 16, 2021, at the age of 72 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born October 26th, 1948 in Indianapolis, the daughter of Everett and Dorothy Bailey. She proudly served as a member of the USO and was employed by Indiana National Bank for many years. She was very passionate about family and friends, never missed an opportunity to help any animal cause or Veteran service program, and never knew a stranger. She was a Manual High School grad, class of 1966. She enjoyed travel to anywhere there was sand, water, and good food. Other passions included gardening, music, cooking, and trying new foods. She was an incredible Mother to all she cared for. She is survived by her loving husband John, children, Craig and wife Angela and Paul, and girlfriend Becky. Grandchildren Taylor and Nae and great-grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held Friday, September 3, 2021 from 4 to 5 pm with visitation from 3 to 4 p.m. at the Avon Conkle funeral home. Dress is fun, colorful, beach casual as she would have it no other way. We are planning on a Zoom call presence for those unable to attend, please reach out to Craig for details. ________________________
