Is anARD committee on your campus considering a change of placement (to or from a more restrictive environment) for a student?
Please carefully review the Process for Change of Placement document and hyperlinked resources STEP ONE of the behavior or academic checklist for existing special education students is an opportunity for the staff to thoughtfully collaborate to ensure the student’s IEP correctly reflects PLAAFPS (present level of academic achievement and functional performance statements), IEP goals to address each area of disability, as well as supplementary aids and services, and accommodations, and take time implement newly discovered strategies that may avoid the need for a change of placement.
There were multiple opportunities for teachers to attend training on this process this summer between Hays CON and beginning of the year PD offerings, and so many attended! It was wonderful. Your kind feedback and questions are welcomed via email to Brenda Bondurant and Patricia Esteves. Please use CoP Question in the subject line.
