Digital Learning

We are looking for one Elementary teacher per campus to partner with their campus librarian to attend this training! It’s 2 days in person and 1 day of asynchronous work.The first day of training will be at HaysCon on July 31.The second day of training is tentatively scheduled forTuesday, October 1.

Upon completion of the course, you would receive either a set of 10 microbits or two vex robots based on the level of students you serve.

Our Hays esports expo was a success! We had great participation from students and families. We are looking forward to next year and the addition of clubs at our secondary campuses as a way to increase our student participation in the 100% Hays Initiative.

24-25 Exchange Day Information

*Applies to Hays CISD staff with less than 216 calendar/contract days

● Staff will need to accrue one day of professional development for a total of 6 hours.

● All staff members required to complete Exchange Day hours will need to submit a forms in Eduphoria Formspace to receive Exchange Day credit.*If a staff member wants outside PD credit to show in their personal portfolio, they will also enter it in Eduphoria Strive.

● Exchange Day forms will be available beginning June 3 in Eduphoria FORMSPACE. Staff members are required to submit the certificate of completion along with the form.

● Forms must be submitted by October 28.

● Campus principals will review and approve Exchange Day Credit in Eduphoria FORMSPACE. .

● Professional learning activities that are otherwise compensated via stipend,release time,or another type of compensation may NOT be used for Exchange Day credit.

As a reminder, G/Tcluster teachers are required to complete an initial 30 hours of G/T training that includes Nature and Needs and Identification andAssessment plus 18 hours from other courses that are approved for G/Tcredit. In subsequent years, teachers should complete an annual 6 hour update. Please make plans to complete your training this summer. Online and in person sessions will be offered. Katie Campbell will be offering a CTE GT Update and Exchange Day Credit day on May 30th at Hays High School in Laura Fleming-Holcomb’s Room.

Topic: CTE Teachers: Using AI Tools in the Lesson Planning Process

Audience: All CTE Teachers: In this session, teachers will learn about different AI tools to create differentiated lesson plans. Teachers will leave with updated pacing guides for the 24-25 school year and new tools in their arsenal to be efficient in the lesson planning process. From menus for differentiation, assessments, rubrics, to using tools to help with translations- there are so many ways to use AI in the classroom. PLEASE BRING A DEVICE.

Due to space constraints this training is only available to CTE teachers.

Inspired by the 8th grade novel, Seedfolks, a former BMS student built a raised garden as her Girl Scout project in 2023. Seedfolks is about building a diverse community through gardening, and Mr. Debord along with other members of the campus community have worked hard to bring this theme to life. Way to go, BMS!
