Digital Learning

We are so excited to be expanding our 100% Hays initiative to include e-sports opportunities district wide. We currently have clubs at several high schools. Here are a few pictures of their clubs!

Digital Learning
Check out morning announcements from around the district! We know there are many campuses that do this. If you want your club featured in our last magazine, please share your pictures with Emily Herrin.

At CHES, the MorningAnnouncements Crew writes and produces their daily video recorded announcements. The students include cafeteria menus, important reminders, birthdays, a Leader in Me pledge and a Leader in Me question of the week. The also have a daily themed feature. For example, students can submit jokes to be shared on "Funny Friday" or learn about historic facts on "Back inTimeTuesday." Members of the Canva Club also create green screen backgrounds for special days and events, and get shout outs on the announcements.
KES Panthers host their student led Panther news. Click on the picture to see the great experiences Ms. Zuniga is offering her students.

CTE (COOLEST TEACHERS EVER!)

Our district showcased all things CTE during the KyleArea Chamber of Commerce’s monthly luncheon!
One of the ways our district showcased the success of CTE to those at the Chamber Luncheon was the lunch itself – a delicious meal catered by the Handmade by Hays culinary arts team from Hays High, led by educator Leandra Walls! Hays County Justice of the Peace Pct. 2.1 Judge Beth Smith and Kyle Fire Department Chief KyleTaylor andAssistant Chief Freddy Rolon all discussed successful internships they’ve experienced with Hays CISD CTE students. That includes our incredibly noteworthy Hays CISD FireAcademy, of which more than a dozen Hays CISD graduates who have gone through the program are now working full-time at firehouses across CentralTexas! Capping off the presentation were five members of Lehman High’s Student Broadcasting (StuBro) team, led by LHSAudio/Visual Media educator Craig Hudson. Hudson, along with LHS students Matheus Eifling, John Sizemore, Hannah Ortiz and Elizabeth Neal, talked about the success they’ve experienced within StuBro. Recently, the LHS StuBro completed a successful liveYouTube broadcast of the morning announcements. In addition, our Lehman High StuBro recently earned state accolades during the Business Professionals of America (BPA) media competition, which included StuBro earning state rankings in several categories. Our StuBro team then had a wonderful “drop the mic” moment when they debuted one of their videos they submitted for contest, which was a new welcome video created for the KyleArea Chamber of Commerce! Click this link to see the video! We are so proud of all of our programs and thankful for this opportunity to showcase the great things happening in CTE!
Fine Arts

PAC Dates for 24 - 25: Any fine arts teachers that would like to request PAC dates for 24 - 25 should make sure all requests are in now with their content leader in fine arts. Thank you!

Students in Ms. Gonzalez’s 3rd grade classroom at UES brainstorm a list of writing topics in their writer’s notebooks and then engage in the Give One, Get One instructional strategy to add ideas.
We had our last Reading Academy session on April 24th. The teachers reflected on writing instruction and the Reading Academy content. They were such a great group to work with!
