Our next and last ReadingAcademy session is April 24th. This will be our last session for this year. Teachers should cancel their substitutes for the May 8th session. We were able to complete the modules in 9 sessions.

We appreciate all your efforts to get everyone to the sessions to avoid a make up session. Our literacy team is working on completing the 4 required classroom visits for each participant.

Summer G/TPD: As a reminder, G/Tcluster teachers are required to complete an initial 30 hours of G/Ttraining that includes Nature and Needs and Identification and Assessment. After that, teachers should complete an annual 6 hour update. Please make plans to complete your training this summer. Online and in person sessions will be offered. Summer Gifted and Talented Referral Period Open for Kindergarten - 11th Grade Students during the month ofApril

Note: Students can only be referred once per calendar year. If a student was assessed this school year, they cannot retest during this window. In addition, testing will occur the first week of June and parents must provide transportation. More information will be shared closer to the testing window.

Elementary: The State of Texas requires that districts offer bilingual and ESL summer school for PK & Kinder students. Administrators: PLEASE remind ALL campus staff that if a request for special education evaluation is made by a parent (verbally, in writing, in person), that request needs to be forwarded to campus evaluation staff AS SOON AS IT IS RECEIVED.

Evaluation staff has 15 school days to respond to that request. Our timeline begins as soon as the request is received.

Speech update:

Students who have not received speech services during all or part of the year, are currently receiving speech therapy in order to try and make up for missed time. This may mean that students are being pulled for double the amount of time prescribed for speech per week. SLPs are doing their best to make sure that students are pulled at ideal times.

ARDF vacancy–

One of our elementary ARD Facilitators has left as of the end of March. ARD Facilitators across the district are helping to support the 2 campuses left without an ARD facilitator. Please know that this may mean that your ARDF is not on campus at usual days/times.

● Students must be scheduled into 240 instructional minutes every day of the week to generate full day funding.

○ Even if only 1 day has less than 240 - student cannot generate full day funding for ANY days, even the days they have 240.

○ Instructional minutes cannot include lunch, passing periods, or study halls.

● End-of-Year Activities - don’t lose funding!

○ Can only change ADA time for emergencies and testing. Cannot change to accommodate activities.

○ Students must be with a staff member and a staff member must record the attendance. Students and parents cannot record attendance.

○ Early Release Days and Days with non-instructional activities plannedStudents must be scheduled to receive at least 240 minutes of instruction to generate full day funding.

○ Students cannot show up to campus solely to check in for attendance and then leave for the day.

○ You cannot advertise to families that students only need to show up to school for attendance and then they can leave.
