Wet-Dry-Try for Capitals This is a favorite activity. You write a chalk letter and teach each step. Children wet the letter, dry it, and then try it with chalk. The Little Sponge Cubes and Little Chalk Bits reinforce correct grip. Repetition reinforces correct letter formation. Place Little Chalk Bits and Little Sponge Cubes in small cups so children can reach them. This is the physical version. Activity 1. P repare Slate Chalkboards Write letter with chalk as a model to trace. 2. T eacher’s Part Demonstrate letter on your own Slate Chalkboard. Say the words for each step. 3. C hild’s Part - Use the Wet-Dry-Try method (Child says the words for each step) Wet: Child uses a Little Sponge Cube to trace the letter. Dry: Child uses a Little Piece of paper towel to dry the letter. Try: Child uses a Little Chalk Bit to write the letter.
