Welcome
Welcome to Handwriting Without Tears® by Learning Without Tears and to teaching handwriting.
This is your teacher’s guide, not only for the student edition, but for a way of teaching handwriting that is effective for children. Your children will be moving, singing, and playing with you as they build and write letters.
That’s how good handwriting starts—with hands-on materials and teaching that bring the curriculum to life.
For this reason, explicit, multisensory handwriting instruction is crucial, and we are committed to ensuring students can access it regardless of where they are learning. We are excited to offer an integrated print and digital approach, so students can learn handwriting actively and joyfully in any learning environment.
Handwriting Without Tears is part of the Learning Without Tears family. We started in the 1970s and have evolved based on our continued and direct experience with students, teachers, occupational therapists, and administrators across the country. Our 35 years of experience and ongoing collaboration solve the problems associated with early writing skills and do so in a way that is joyful, effective, and innovative.
Our materials and teaching strategies make learning a positive, successful experience for children in just 15 minutes a day. You will help your students build strong printing skills for writing letters, words, and sentences. Every lesson includes a multisensory element and has additional, optional connections to tie handwriting to other parts of the school day.
We support teacher directed learning. We believe you’ll enjoy using our program and are excited to have you bring it to life in your classroom.
