Spillin’ Val Greenberg with

Let’s Get Physical!

Let me share with you a day in my life and how I utilize my time, energy and products to make the most of it.

Rise and Shine!

Striving for an early start sets the tone for a productive and enjoyable day. It doesn’t always work that way but, it is my ultimate goal. The first thing I do is open the fridge and drink my favorite wellness shot that’s chilled and has a handful of health benefits-called Safforia-made of Saffron. This, with my coffee, starts my day. Safforia is the first all-natural euphoric detox formulated to deliver the mood boosting properties of saffron, available at Safforia.com. I know how important it is to maintain a healthy smile. I love my electric toothbrush which enables me to keep my teeth pearly white thus, making me confident when it’s time to say cheese. Now, I splash a little water on my face and apply sunblock before going outside. I look at any time sensitive emails that may have come in overnight, as well as breaking entertainment news, since I am often sharing my entertainment expertise across multiple media platforms.

nless I have an early morning shoot or deadline I start with a workout. During the summer it is often an outdoor run either throughout the town of Sag Harbor, East Hampton or on the East River when in NYC. Endorphins elevate my frame of mind and for those that follow me on Instagram, where I document my runs, I am

always Spillin’ my thoughts. Beginning my day by exercising is both a positive and beneficial way to feel accomplished. While I am exercising, I jam out to my favorite rap playlists. I also think about what I am grateful for as I’m moving and grooving. Sometimes I even recite scripts to myself to be that much more productive and is a big part of my memorization process.

Post Workout Routine!

After my run, I jump in the shower and that’s when I get to pamper myself with my favorite skincare products and rituals. I love a good full body exfoliation once or twice a week. Soap & Glory Body Scrub smells phenomenal. It features scents of rose and bergamot and is super gentle on the skin. When it comes to my complexion, I make sure my face is heavily hydrated, and that’s where I rely on Hydrinity Skincare which uses 100 % injectable grade Hyaluronic Acid. It’s packed with peptides and antioxidants. I start with their Hyacin Active Purifying mist, which is a luxurious, lightweight spray that balances the skin’s pH. This maximizes the effectiveness of the serums, promotes healing and boosts my skin’s overall appearance. It’s great for sensitive skin and it’s free of chemical irritants and safe for all skin types. Then I use their Vivid Brightening Serum which helps fade and repair existing pigmentation while preventing any new formations.

This deeply hydrating formula provides protection from inflammation and balances the skin’s barrier, providing me with an all-day natural glow in which I spend the day makeup free unless I have a video shoot. It also pairs perfectly under makeup where it absorbs seamlessly into my complexion. Hyrdrinity is available at hydrinity.com and Soap & Glory at Walgreens and Target.

Time to Unwind and Get My Beauty Sleep

It’s important to find ways to enhance the quality of our sleep. Feeling well rested is synonymous with self-care. I love my Blissy Sleep Mask (Blissy.com) made of 100 percent Mulberry 22-Momme Silk to keep out light pollution and avoid wrinkles. I also adore their soft silk pillowcases which are fantastic for your hair and skin. They are cooling, hypoallergenic and perfect for this time of year. After I remove my makeup, I indulge with Hydrinity’s Restorative HA + sheet masque. I do this to up my skin’s hydration even further. This is an excellent way to take a few minutes to wind down before I head to bed, it’s relaxing and beneficial for my mental health since I’m often multitasking. Following this pattern helps me achieve my goal of waking up early and feeling refreshed. I hope you enjoyed reading the breakdown of my VALidated day and that it provides you with suggestions to make the most of your summer! Remember how you spend your time is very personal and always do what’s right for you! #YouvebeenVALidated

Early Evening Events

There are tons of celebrations and hot events taking place during the month of July. Mixing and mingling, fostering existing friendships and creating new ones is one of my favorite activities to engage in. It is very important to me to attend the latest store openings and product launches so I can be on top of what’s trending and support other entrepreneurs. Some friends and business associates throw amazing dinner parties, BBQ’s and product activations. These parties offer stimulating conversations, delicious food, design aesthetic and access to the latest trends that bring so much joy to my day. On nights that I just have to myself, I love to head to Montauk since Rushmeyers opened their new restaurant called Placebo. With a vibrant menu that includes Wagyu Risotto Paella, they offer some of the most mouth watering offerings on the East End. More of my faves include Duryeas, which has always been a staple in my summer schedule and Monte’s At The Manor for their sensational tomato sauce that is the dream addition to any Sunday family feast.

Creating the Ideal Office Space and Making Time for Some Beauty Treatments

It’s July, so sitting poolside or at an outdoor cafe are my optimal choices for atmosphere to get my work done. My creativity sparks when I’m outside enjoying the fresh air. When I can, I will sneak in a gel mani in-between podcasting, developing scripts, responding to emails and creating content. I want to protect my skin and feel fashionable while doing it. ManiGlovz should be in everyone’s beauty arsenal as a protective and functional accessory to keep our hands shielded from UV rays. Perfect for when I get my gel mani or when I am just working outside. ManiGlovz are made using UV 50+ protective Compression Tricot (some with hydrating Aloe Vera Microcapsules). Be sure to grab yours at ManiGlovz.com $13. I love the kisses pattern, it evokes feelings of self-love.

Sex So Hot You Have To Turn Up The A/C

This Summer Won’t Be As Hot As Your Bedroom!

So you’ve decided – either with your partner or as a single person –this summer is going to be YOUR “summer of lust.” You’re going to let go and do everything you’ve been hearing about from that one wildly open, sexually positive friend of yours. So, where do you start on your sexual Rumspringa?

Threesome time!

Whether you’re doing an FFM (two women, one dude) or a MMF (two dudes, one woman) typically, the men don’t interact with each other and the women control what will and won’t take place. It all starts with consent. But don’t judge a woman who likes to take full control or another who enjoys being objectified like a sex doll. She dictates the rules. Who kisses who, what she will and won’t do, etc.

Just be aware that porn makes threesomes seem easy and artful, like a ballet. In real life, you will find yourself in awkward positions and there’s a lot more to contend with than you imagined. So, plan for when it’s…finished… Does the guest star stay over? Leave immediately? Order pizza? Make those decisions and even tell your third so things aren’t awkward at the end. Don’t worry about hurting anyone’s feelings, most guest stars don’t want to spend the night.

New To Kink Play?

The thing about kinks is that some people just have them while others don’t. They’re hard wired in us, so for example, people who are into feet (there’s a great deal of brain research as to why that is, but that’s for another article) but suffice it to say, people are either kinky, not kinky or game for what their partner wants to try.

Just be aware, not everyone is kinkmatched because most people are not kinky, but they are willing to accommodate a partner. Like most challenges with anything sexual, the best place to start is by talking. Get a good idea of what your partner is into and what your expectations are too. Some kinks like BDSM come with a serious set of rules so that nobody is hurt, physically or psychologically. If you’re testing out kinks and BDSM for the first time, you absolutely cannot jump in with hardcore practices right from the very beginning.

Again, consent is key. Discuss what your fantasy is and what your partner will allow at an earlier time and not while you’re half naked with a riding crop in your hand. The three main rules are consent, consent and

consent. Some light spanking? Sure. Tying wrists and ankles with a silk scarf? Go for it. Be respectful and non-judgmental, creating a safe space for both partners to express themselves. Couples could bond over exploring new activities and finding new ways to satisfy each other’s needs. Master The ONS (One Night Stand)

If you’ve never had a ONS but it seems like something you’ve always fantasized about, there are ways to make it happen safely. While in movies you’ll see two drunk idiots making out at a bar and then a jump cut to the next morning and they’re waking up wondering what happened, that’s not it. In fact, that’s messed up!

You must, and I can’t stress this enough, you must go into a ONS sober! If you are not sober, you may neglect to use protection, your judgment might be off and your instincts will be shaky at best. That’s how you end up waking up next to a friend’s husband or coworker. A ONS is about a fun night of sex, not a lifetime of regret and consequences.

Communicate openly and honestly about your boundaries. Be clear that you’re not looking for your “person.” You don’t want to lead someone on. Trust your instincts. If at any point you feel uncomfortable or unsafe, it’s okay to stop or leave. To that end, inform a friend. Text a photo of the person you’re going home with and share your location or arrange to check in with them at a designated time throughout the night.

Don’t feel rejected by “closing time effects.” That’s when someone seems

more attractive at the end of the night, with fewer options around, and it happens because we have more behavioral freedom. When you let your guard down and are more willing to do things you may not have done at the start of the night.

Long Term Couple Getting Their Groove Back.

Maybe this is the first summer you have without kids in tow. They’re away at camp and you’ve decided it’s not “mommy and daddy” time but “come to daddy” time. How do you get your groove back? It’s not that difficult.

Start with trying new things together, outside the bedroom, that can bring new excitement back into your relationship. This could be anything from going on a new adventure, to exploring new sexual experiences and fantasies over a glass of wine. That’s because studies show spending quality time together, sharing your thoughts and expressing affection in non-sexual ways leads to expressing yourself in sexual ways.

Experimentation for couples is easier than for singles because they are less likely to judge. So, be open to trying new things in the bedroom. This could involve exploring fantasies, introducing adult toys, or experimenting with different forms of intimacy.

Outside the bedroom, exercise is more important to keep the fire burning. Regular exercise and maintaining a healthy lifestyle has been shown to boost energy levels and improve overall well-being, which in turn can lead to an increased desire for intimacy. Sex is healthy, so do it for your own well-being!

Not to get all clinical, but, as a psychologist I feel the need to point out that sex is something you should not be ashamed of, nor should you feel shame surrounding fantasies, kinks and desires. Science has shown that sex has physical health benefits, like heart, prostate and immune system boosts. There’s also a great deal of research on sexual satisfaction and mental health effects, like stress reduction, mood enhancement and better sleep. So, have fun, keep it hot, keep it safe and go try something new!

Meet NYC Multi-talented Artist N’Kenge

We had the pleasure of speaking with NYC born and raised artist, N’Kenge (pronounced nuh-KEN-JEE). When it comes to talent, N’Kenge has an abundance of it – she sings in five octaves and 11 languages, from opera, to jazz, rock, pop and musical theater. She has graced some of the biggest stages around the world, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and Madison Square Garden. Her acting chops have earned her Broadway roles, including her most recent role as “The Moon” in the Tony-winning musical, Caroline, or Change. She also writes and produces her own music, and plans to release a new EP later this year. She shared with us how she got her start and a bit about her life as an artist in an extremely competitive industry.

Q. Tell us about your background and your start in the music industry.

A. I have always been around music ever since I was a little girl. My mother put me in dance and piano lessons when I was four years old and at 10-singing. As soon as I hit the stage and received a standing ovation at PS 95 in the Bronx for playing Peppermint Patty in a Charlie Brown musical, I was HOOKED! Growing up in New York definitely gives you a big advantage because of the exposure to the arts but it also makes you realize how much amazing talent is out there and how competitive this industry is.

Q. With so much competition in music and entertainment these days, how do you make yourself stand out?

A. I try to stay as authentic and true to my art as possible. As I’ve grown into my artistry, I realize that it’s the ability of crossing so many genres is what makes me stand out.

Q. As an artist who is constantly in the spotlight, do you ever unplug or go off the radar?

A. It’s definitely necessary to unplug, but I try not to unplug for too long, haha! My nine-year-old daughter has grown up in the business watching me perform and she also sings and dances, so I think the balance works out in a great way because she understands the nature of the business and my husband has always been supportive from day one.

Q. Your latest single, “Goosebump Moment,” what’s the inspiration behind

the song and what was the songwriting process like with your co-writers?

A. We wanted something fresh and internationally driven. I love to travel and sing in different languages, so creating this upbeat song about travel and culture was something special to do. The title itself was inspired by Oprah Winfrey, when she would reference something really important, giving her a “goosebump moment.” That inspired me to write about how the love of my life gave me the goosebump moment. My co-writer Preston Glass was an absolute jewel to work with.

Q. What’s up for 2024?

A. I’m singing at The Jazz Club at the Aman Hotel and the Club Room at Soho Grand Hotel. I’m headlining on several overseas cruise ships and am in the midst of planning a possible tour in China to promote my new music. See my IG @divankenge and web Nkengemusic. com

Look out this Fall for N’Kenge’s debut pop album, Centerstage. The Tony, Emmy and Grammy-nominated artist N’Kenge has performed at venues such as Carnegie Hall and Madison Square Garden, and has headlined concerts with numerous symphonies. She was a presenter at the 58th NY Emmy Awards and is a proud alumni of The Juilliard School and Manhattan School of Music, N’Kenge made her Broadway debut in Sondheim on Sondheim and was recently on Broadway in the Tony- winning revival of Caroline or Change. She was also nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Musical for her leading roles in both the Elton John/Tim Rice Musical Aida and in Marion Caffey’s 3 Mo’ Divas by the Helen Hayes Awards and the ariZoni Theater Awards. She’s currently developing both a Broadway-bound musical celebrating Dorothy Dandridge’s life and music and new TV musical dramedy, Black Butterfly, with TV producer Gina Goff.

Exclusive Hamptons! When in the

You know Summer is in full swing when entrepreneur, philanthropist and animal lover Jill Zarin hosts the star-studded MEND skincare Presents: Jill Zarin’s Luxury Luncheon by Laifen & Ticket2Events extravaganza. This event is truly a passion of, for and because of love. It is the season’s most anticipated event that brings the who’s who of the Hamptons and celebrities together in honor of Bobby Zarin.

Q. Tell us about Bobby and how your annual event honors him?

A. Bobby was the love of my life, and honoring him through our annual event means the world to me. Each year we come together to remember Bobby and support causes that were close to his heart, like cancer research. This year’s event will be even more special. We’re continuing to incorporate some of Bobby’s favorite things, such as innovative technology and food experiences, which I think will make it truly memorable. We have some really fun new surprises that we can’t wait for everyone to see!

Q. How will this year’s event be more AMAZING than last year’s?

A. Oh, get ready for this! Our 11th annual event is going to be the most anticipated one yet! We’ve got a new venue, and everyone is buzzing about the brand new products that will be launched here. We have brands coming from all over the world. We are excited for the new presenting sponsor, MEND skincare, where the line between science fiction and skincare gets blurred. We also have two brands, Laifen, an awesome new technology based company specializing in hair tools and innovative toothbrushes and then there is Oneisall, they focus on grooming tools and vacuums for your pets! Incorporating more pet friendly brands, this year, is a new element! We love showcasing new and exciting brands that have never been seen, especially in the Hamptons. We also have some surprise celebrity guests lined up. Select VIPS will also receive an amazing new thermostat watch, with technology that helps cool you down or warm you up at the touch of a button. Sean and Brian, from Ticket2Events, really know how to find the best brands. Plus, the gift bags this year are going to be over the top and are provided by one of our favorite brands, Quilted Koala, you won’t want to miss out!

Q. What are you most excited about for this year’s event?

A. I am always excited to see what new brands Sean and Brian have discovered. Since we have been doing this for so long, many brands actually DM me and I tell them to reach out to the boys!! July 20, 2024 is the big day, so for anyone reading this who want to showcase their product, DM them ASAP @ticket2events.

Q. FAV memory of Bobby.

A. One of my absolute favorite memories of Bobby is from our charity event. I can still picture him standing on the top balcony of my home, with his arms wide open, filled with pride. It was such a beautiful moment, surrounded by our family and friends, as he delivered his heartfelt welcome speech. I never could have imagined a day when he wouldn’t be here to do that. But you know what? Ally, Gary, my sister Lisa Wexler, my Aunt Cookie, and my cousins have all stepped up to help me continue that tradition. Bobby always encouraged me to be true to myself and chase my passions, he was my biggest cheerleader. It’s those simple, loving moments that I hold dear and miss the most.

Q. Why do you love working with Brian & Sean from Ticket2Events?

A. One thing is certain, I could not and would not do this event without Brian and Sean. They do all the heavy lifting and more. They create the atmosphere by finding the most amazing brands who create their own vignette to promote themselves along with their never ending quest to

Photos by Brenda B Photography

make the event look as fabulous as it does every year! Working with Brian & Sean from Ticket2Events is always a delight. They’re not just incredibly professional and talented at what they do, but they also bring a level of enthusiasm and creativity that elevates every event. They literally start working the week after the event to bring back fan favs such as Lacroix, Quilted Koala and Coola along with searching out the newest and hottest emerging companies with innovative products.

Q. Why are the Hamptons special to you?

A. The Hamptons hold a special place in my heart. It’s not just a beautiful escape from the city but also a place where Bobby and I shared countless happy memories. It also symbolizes peace, friendship, and family.

Q. What motivates you? Describe yourself in 3 words.

A. What keeps me going? It’s all about taking care of my daughter, loved ones, and bringing people together. If I had to describe myself in three words, I’d say I’m loving, compassionate and an eternal optimist.

Q. How do you maintain that elusive work/ life balance?

A. Finding balance between work and life is a constant juggling act, but you know what? It’s not a struggle anymore. I’ve learned that if I take care of myself, everything falls into place. So, I make sure to carve out moments for myself to meditate and connect with my inner self. I’ve also discovered the incredible world of crystal metaphysics and it has truly changed my life. Ally and I use crystals to manifest what we need and want, and let me tell you, they haven’t disappointed us yet. Our Jill & Ally manifestation crystal candles play a big role in our happiness and success.

Q. You always look so radiant, describe your skin care/health/wellness routine.

A. Thank you so much for the kind words! My skincare routine is all about hydration and sun protection. I believe in nourishing my skin with a healthy diet, drinking plenty of water, and following a rigorous skincare regimen to keep that glow using my own skincare line or integrating some of the new brands we work with, like MEND skincare. In conjunction, I also believe in balance and not being too hard on yourself. I truly believe that when you feel good on the inside, it radiates on the outside.

Q. How did you become such an amazing cook?

A. Well, it definitely helps to have friends like the famous Jake Cohen, Chef Jason Smith (aka Lord Honey), and even Emeril Lagasse cooking with me in my own kitchen. But you know what? Even without their help, I’ve got one fail-proof meal that’s always a hit – my grandma Helen’s chicken matzo ball soup. It’s a family favorite, and it never fails to bring comfort and joy.

Q. What advice would you give an aspiring entrepreneur?

A. To all the aspiring entrepreneurs out there, be fearless, do your research, and never underestimate the power of networking.

Q. Your secret to happiness?

A. Gratitude. Appreciating what you have. Find joy in the

small things and keep close the people who matter most.

Q. Bossi, your adorable dog travels with you wherever you go and is the cutest.

We’d like to know:

Favorite place?

Favorite food?

Bossi absolutely loves the Hamptons and loves Cajun Chicken from Bilboquet!

Q. FAV 3 restaurants in the Hamptons?

A. The Pridwin Hotel is a must at least once. They have a shuttle boat from Sag Harbor. Pierre’s is always reliable for a fabulous French brunch with a French waiter and The Palm is the scene for generational family gatherings and visiting people you haven’t seen since last season.

Q. FAV candle scent from your collection?

A. The lavender scent is my favorite; it’s so calming and luxurious. We have an incredible line of Jill Zarin candles launching this fall!

Q. What was your favorite part about working on GOAT on Prime?

A. Working with Amazon was a dream. I can’t wait to start our new project together. The GOAT was just the warm up. I really challenged myself and thought I wouldn’t last a week. I lasted longer than almost everyone and I am so proud of my accomplishment. My crystal manifestation candles definitely kept me there and I shouldn’t have given my crystal away, on the last day, to the person who actually won! She wore it in her bra! It worked and I am so happy for her. I love making new lifelong friends, most of whom came to last year’s Luncheon!

Q. What is next for you?

A. Let’s just say I have more TV shows ahead of me this year and more products to launch over the next 12 months. I’ll also be focusing on expanding the Jill Zarin & Jill & Ally brands.

To keep up with all that Jill is doing, stay connected with her on IG @mrsjillzarin and on the web at Jillzarin.com and JillandAlly.com

We are excited to, once again, be working with the Best of the Best, the co-founders of Ticket2Events (@ticket2events) Brian Kelly (@officialbriankelly) and Sean Koski (@seankoski). If you’re looking to create a good time, they are the ones to do it. They are the co-creators of some of the biggest and best East End events that bring together celebrities, brands and luxury experiences that only they can provide. Their connections to the who’s who of the Hamptons and celebrities runs deep. With friends like Jill Zarin, LeeAnne Locken, Kristen Taekman, and super model Flaviana Mattata, the amount of star-power they can tap into is immense. They accomplish all this with a unique and redefined style when it comes to planning for those accustomed to a life of luxurypartly because they too live it themselves year-round. From Montauk to Palm Beach to NYC and around the world, Brian and Sean are your ticket to all things fun, fab and fantastic!

Q. What is the first thing you do when you hit the Hamptons?

A. The first thing we do is heat the pool to 89 degrees and chill the rose to 54. Once those two things are set in stone, we can really get to work on making it the best Summer ever.

Q. How has the MEND skincare Presents: Jill Zarin’s Luxury Luncheon by Laifen & Ticket2Events evolved from its humble beginnings?

A. Since its beginning the luncheon was a backyard party for “ladies who lunch” and was limited to a tighter guest list than you can imagine. The event was just a one-time idea and once the media got word of what we created we knew it was something we could make bigger and better. With the help of so many people the event blossomed into what it is today. We now have over 80 brands that participate from all over the world. This year we are excited to be launching a few new brands in the Hamptons like MEND skincare, Dillions Small Batch Distillers, Laifen, which is a technology brand with innovative hair and care products such as their next level toothbrushes. We also love bringing back some of our favorite brands, like LaCroix, OWYN and Quilted Koala.

Q. How do you keep the luncheon “fresh” from year to year?

A. Incorporating new trends and great ideas from outside input always helps us keep the

event “fresh” each year. This year we’re including an Embr Waves as the official entry band to keep guests cool. Last year we had 18k gold permanent jewelry as the official welcome at entry for the invited guests.

Q. How is it different from throwing an event in The Hamptons v. PB?

A. The Hamptons social scene v. the Palm Beach social scene may seem different on the surface but aside from attire, they’re really quite the same. Both places provide a haven for vacationers which is conducive to throwing spectacular events. One thing people like to do is dress up for an event and when you’re on vacation,

there’s no better excuse to dress up and show off your tan than to attend one of our fab functions!

Q. What are the new party trends?

A. Having intimate corners for people to have fireside chats while sipping on mocktails, jazzed up with things like edible flowers all while being at a maximalist party is the way to go. BIG AND BOLD is here to stay!

Q. What is one thing you should never do/try when holding an event?

A. Everything yourself! Hiring an event planner is the best idea, no matter how big or small of an event it is.

Q. What is one thing every event needs to have?

A. A parting gift as a thank you to the attendees.

Q. How do you persuade clients to do what you know is best, as opposed to what they “think” is best?

A. One reason we’ve remained in demand is that we don’t ever tell clients what to do - we always have made it a point to showcase our ideas but allow the client to make the final decision.

Q. What are some tips to using social media to your advantage?

A. One of the best tips we learned was from Beachwaver at one of our events. Capture as much content as possible and use it throughout the summer. Also, use a hashtag like we do for this event #jzluxlunch. Social media is also a great avenue to find new brands, companies and celebs.

Q. We are honored and excited, here at Hamptons Storyboard, to cover and be a part of this glorious event. Why do you believe print media is still an important avenue to advertise, as well as be seen and printed in?

A. Print media will always be an important avenue not just in advertising but in all aspects of message delivery. For all of our events we make sure to have printed materials with information for everyone to read at check-in or during the event in case they need it to help direct their day. We’re excited to be able to share our events through printed materials like Hamptons Storyboard because they are “Where the stories come Alive!”

Q. At the end of the day what makes you both smile?

A. Our French Bulldog Ravioli K, @creamyravioli - he’s the best dog in the world and such a blessing to be around. Follow on IG at @officialbriankelly @seankoskii and on their business page @ticket2events

The Summer of Outside

It is a victorious feeling making it to Summer. The warmer weather, the longer days - I live for this season. Once the days are brighter and sunnier, I make a concerted effort to embrace the outdoors as much as possible. As an Interior Designer and Stylist, I pause on interior home projects and focus on exterior updates. I find that I do not need to do a complete design overhaul. By simply injecting a few new pieces, this will excite me about enjoying my outdoor space and make me want to host an outdoor gathering. I’d like to share some current finds that can help you also get excited about enjoying the outdoor space of your home.

5Protect yourself from the sun with a stylish parasol. This one from Soho Home has a great fringe detail.

Celebrate Independence by Finding Your Voice and Speaking Your Truth

While July is a time of celebrating independence with festivities and fireworks, we can also choose it to be a time of quiet introspection; a time to reflect on what it truly means to be free. This Independence Day, connect with your inner voice, and discover new strength and the courage to express the wisdom of your soul. The act of simply being with crystals and Earth stones can raise your vibration, lift your energy, and connect you to a higher frequency.

All crystals and stones correspond with chakras—the energy centers within the body—and these beautiful blue stones harmonize with the throat chakra. According to Gemma Petherbridge, author of The Crystal Apothecary, when energy surrounding the throat chakra is blocked, there is difficulty expressing ideas. When that energy is balanced, communication is confident, expressive, and clear.

For inspired self-expression Blue Calcite is an excellent choice. It’s a stone that soothes and protects the emotional body, helping to diffuse anger, promotes inner peace, and leads to a calmer, more heart centered communication. Chrysocolla is known as a stone of wisdom that supports communicating from the heart. Celebrated for its connection to both the Earth and goddess energy, this stone offers a soulful combination of gentleness and power. Chrysocolla harmonizes beautifully with aquamarine and lapis lazuli.

Clear Quartz is a multi-purpose stone that amplifies your intentions, supports cleansing of energy, and enhances clarity. It is a stone you can personalize to whatever you wish to manifest by simply speaking

your intention into it. Clear quartz harmonizes with all other stones. Turquoise, a stone that inspires you to communicate from a space of truth, compassion, and forgiveness. It is said to increase the life force in the body and puts you in tune with the sacredness in everyday life. Amazonite supports truth, communication, and harmony. Amazonite is a magnifier of intentions, therefore speak your intentions out loud while holding this stone. Aquamarine is a stone with a soothing energy that promotes self awareness and accurate communication. It helps you speak your truth with integrity and love. Lapis Lazuli awakens us to deeper insight and promotes increased truth and integrity in communication. Choose any combination of these stones, embrace their vibration and speak your truth with love. Cheers to the independence of your soul!

Summer Health Myths

As we enjoy the summer months, it’s a great time to disprove some common health myths that often circulate this time of year.

1. Don’t swim until 30 minutes after you eat: There is no solid evidence to support this. While it’s true that digestion can divert some blood flow from your muscles causing muscle cramps, it’s generally safe to swim after a meal.

2. You can get poison ivy from someone who has it: No, you can only get it if you come into contact with the plant’s oil, not the person who has it.

3. Air conditioning itself does not cause illness. However, it can circulate germs and allergens if the filters are not cleaned regularly.

4. You can’t get a sunburn on a cloudy day: You can get a sunburn anytime you are outside, even on cloudy days, because your skin is still being exposed to ultraviolet rays. It is important to apply sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of 30 or more if you’re spending time outdoors.

5. Any drink can rehydrate you on a hot day: Drinks high in sugar or alcoholic beverages will further dehydrate you. Drinking cool water is your best bet to rehydrate.

6. Mosquitoes are attracted to light: Mosquitoes are drawn to body heat, carbon dioxide and certain body odors. It does not matter if you are sitting under a bright porch light or in the dark. Be sure to use insect repellent that contains DEET and wear protective clothing to help keep those annoying mosquitoes at bay.

7. To remove a tick, reach for matches or nail polish: If a tick is embedded in your skin, trying to burn it or suffocate it is not the answer. Instead, use a fine-tipped tweezer to grab onto the tick as close to the skin as possible, pulling it out with even pressure.

8. Saltwater is good for cuts and wounds: Seawater contains bacteria and contaminants that may cause skin infections on open cuts and wounds. Cleansing a wound with soap and clean water is a better option.

9. Urinating on a jellyfish sting will help: Urine has not been proven to help the pain caused by a jellyfish sting. A paper towel soaked in white vinegar and applied to the wound for 30 minutes seems to help inactivate the stingers and diminish the pain.

10. Watermelon seeds will grow in your stomach if swallowed: Thankfully no, due to your stomach’s improper environment.

In A Minute IG handle, Evan is also on YouTube, TikTok and Facebook. Now, the drink MOSCOW MULE is not from Moscow - it’s not even from Russia. It was created in Los Angeles, as a pure marketing scheme in 1941. John Martin, a spirits distributor, and Jack Morgan, owner of the Cock’n Bull pub in Hollywood, decided to combine Morgan’s excess ginger beer with Martin’s newly acquired Smirnoff brand. Reportedly, Martin had bartenders take photos with the cocktail and show the snaps to neighboring bars to prove his selfmanufactured point, that the Moscow Mule was trending. It’s also rumored that Morgan’s girlfriend owned a company that made copper products — hence the iconic copper mug. With that, Smirnoff Vodka sales tripled, and the Moscow Mule became one of the most popular drinks in the world. And that’s no Bull!

Lastly, the SMOOTHIE .

Of course it’s from Los Angeles! The phenomenon began in the early 1920’s with a man named Julius Freed, who settled into Downtown Los Angeles from Montana and set up a stand selling fresh squeezed orange juice. Freed’s friend, Bill Hamlin, had a sensitive stomach and wanted to find a way to drink this fresh juice without the acidity bothering his stomach. Accordingly, Freed experimented with adding a few other ingredients to make the juice less acidic and frothier. He concocted the final formula and began making these drinks for friends. His friends loved them so much that when they would request the drink they would say, “Give me an orange, Julius!” And that is how his store, Orange Julius, was born.

The COBB SALAD was invented in Los Angeles. One night in 1937, Bob Cobb, the owner of the former Brown Derby restaurant in Hollywood realized he hadn’t eaten all day - he was ravenous. He marched into the kitchen and found avocado, lettuce, tomatoes, bacon and celery, put them together and topped them with bleu cheese dressing. He took the salad out to a table he shared with Sid Grauman (of Grauman’s Chinese Theatre). Grauman tried the salad, loved it, then asked for it again the following day and the famous salad was born. It is worth noting that Cobb later perfected the salad by adding chicken, a hard-boiled egg, chives, watercress and Roquefort cheese.

Also concocted in an L.A. kitchen was the CALIFORNIA ROLL . Ichiro Mashita, a sushi chef from the former Little Tokyo restaurant-Tokyo Kaikan, developed a handroll along with his assistant, Teruo Imaizumi, in 1964. This roll utilized cubed avocado, king crab, cucumber and ginger, this replicated a handroll they were already serving with similar, more expensive, ingredients, namely toro (fatty tuna) instead of avocado. Mashita noted that avocado shared the same mouthfeel characteristics as tuna - so out went the tuna, in went the avocado. This early California Roll was wrapped with seaweed on the outside but, American customers peeled it off so they put the seaweed on the inside, and sliced it into a cut roll, both of which made the roll more appealing for the American consumer. On the original version, cucumber, mayonnaise, and sesame seed were originally missing, but they were added later by Mashita & Imaizumi thus, completing the familiar version of the California Roll.

Growing Better: The Power of Turning Mistakes into Milestones-Sophia Loren, the renowned Italianborn actress, once remarked, “Mistakes are part of the dues one pays for a full life.”

Today, I view mistakes as invaluable learning opportunities. Each misstep has shaped me into the person I am. Four years ago, I became a mother and marveled at my infant’s transformation into a toddler and now a little girl. This experience inspired me to guide her toward confidence and security, to prepare her for the world’s inevitable negativity and challenges. Watching her development rekindled memories of my own childhood. This realization led me to start a blog, sharing my mistakes and lessons.

The blog, Growing Better, invites women of all ages and

backgrounds to share their stories of turning mistakes into meaningful life lessons.

As Michelle Obama stated, “I am an example of what is possible when girls from the very beginning of their lives are loved and nurtured by people around them...”

The Final Word

Rosé All Day Jesse Bongiovi With

Summer in the Hamptons is all about the sun, sea, celebs and everyone’s favorite rosé-Hampton Water. We sat down with the face and tastemaker of Hampton Water, Jesse Bongiovi, and dove into that majestic mixture of grenache, cinsault, mourvedre and syrah grapes that make this truly one of the best rosé wines out there.

Jesse, welcome back to the pages of Hamptons Storyboard. We’re excited to speak with you and find out all that you’ve been doing and how Hampton Water has taken over the rosé market.

Q. What’s new?

A. Hi Joe! It’s great to be back. Much has been going on and Hampton Water is rockin’ and rollin’ along.

Q. How did Hampton Water come to be?

A. Long story short, my dad always enjoyed rosé wine and called it ‘pink juice’. Myself and the rest of my family enjoyed it as well and one thing led to another and the idea of developing a rosé came to be and here we are.

Q. Why the name Hampton Water?

A. We love the Hamptons. It’s a way of life, so Hampton Water it is.

Q. Why should everyone be drinking Hampton Water?

A. It’s delicious, easy to open, it brings friends and good times together and it has four 90-point ratings from Wine Spectator.

Q. What is the appeal of Hampton Water rosé?

A. The appeal is that you don’t need to know how to enjoy it. It’s not complicated. It’s approachable and it’s great to experiment with by incorporating it into different cocktails.

Q. We love your label. What inspired it?

A. It is inspired by the Hamptons. The sun, the blue ocean water, the waves, it can work as either a sunrise or sunset, depending on when you are drinking it.

Q. As this venture progressed, what is the best business advice your dad gave you?

A. Once it’s out, you can’t take it back.

Q. Where do you see the brand going from here?

A. We’re the #3 selling French rosé in the U.S. It’s really gaining momentum. The rosé wave is hitting the mid-west and the south at the moment. I see it flowing from coast to coast and city to city.

Q. What’s the first drink you had that your dad knows about?

A. It was a rum punch at Foxy’s in the Caribbean.

Q. You’re at the pool, sipping Hampton Water, which song of your dad’s is playing?

A. Bed Of Roses.

Q. Favorite Hamptons memory?

A. Getting engaged.

Q. What makes a day in the Hamptons perfect for you?

A. Of course, drinking Hampton Water. Going to the beach with friends, having a BBQ, eating some clams, oysters and mussels straight off of the “Q”, just living life and having fun.

Q. If you and your dad could be superheroes, who would you two be?

A. He’d be Superman and I’d be Spiderman.
