I progetti BioDesign

The Custodians Plastic Race è uno degli importanti progetti lanciati dalla BioDesign Foundation, tra i quali si annoverano il progetto V Vox Maris, per la raccolta e lo smaltimento delle reti da pesca dismesse e della plastica che finisce nelle reti dei pescatori e il progetto L Life Save Project, che prevede l’installazione di vasche salvavita per la salvaguardia della pesca indesiderata (bycatch) sui pescherecci.

The Custodians Plastic Race è una gara contro il tempo per ripulire il pianeta dalla plastica e dai rifiuti a cui dobbiamo partecipare tutti per assicurare un futuro migliore al pianeta e all’umanità: un importante gioco di squadra aperto a cittadini, scuole, aziende, associazioni, enti e istituzioni che hanno la possibilità di vestire i panni del custode del futuro, diventando protagonisti in prima persona del cambiamento.

Organizzata in diverse t tappe che coprono quasi tutta la nostra penisola e alcune mete europee, questa pulizia coordinata, simultanea e capillare dei luoghi in cui è necessario rimuovere i rifiuti traccia la strada per il futuro, da percorrere tutti insieme, passo dopo passo. Ogni volta che The Custodians Plastic Race approda in una nuova città segna il raggiungimento di un piccolo traguardo all’interno dell’ambizioso e più ampio progetto promosso da BioDesign Foundation.

Nel 2024 The Custodians Plastic Race ha implementato il proprio programma di attività di clean-up, scendendo in campo al fianco di importanti federazioni ed associazioni, collaborando con EUROSAF (European Sailing Federation) in occasione del Campionato Europeo di Formula Kite 2024, svoltosi dal 15 al 24 marzo a Los Alcázares, nella provincia di Murcia, in Spagna e con i C Campionati Europei di Atletica Roma 2024, in programma dal 7 al 12 giugno.

Successivamente, The Custodians Plastic Race affiancherà per il secondo anno consecutivo il M Marina Militare Nastro Rosa Tour, che toccherà tra giugno e luglio le città di Genova, Sanremo, La Maddalena, Gaeta, Catanzaro, Durres, Vieste, San Benedetto del Tronto, Chioggia e Venezia. Impegnarsi a pulire il pianeta e dedicarsi allo sport sono due attività che, pur operando in ambiti diversi, condividono molte analogie: entrambi richiedono costanza, dedizione collaborazione e una visione a lungo termine

La segnalazione si trasforma in un punto rosso sulla mappa, a cui si assegna un valore compreso tra 1 e 5 a seconda della gravità del problema, per trasformare i problemi del mondo in sfide, soluzioni e azioni. Una volta ripulita la zona segnalata, il punto rosso nella mappa diventa verde (sfida vinta). Il monitoraggio delle zone di intervento è di fondamentale importanza per poter redigere una mappa dei siti da coprire e per organizzare le squadre di riferimento.

Dopo un briefing sulle modalità di raccolta, vengono consegnati ai partecipanti i materiali necessari per la pulizia e l’attività entra nel vivo fino al momento dello smistamento, pesa e registrazione dei rifiuti raccolti. I partecipanti, che contribuiscono alla realizzazione di un’iniziativa ambientale di questo tipo, si uniscono per una giusta causa, seguendo il motto ALL TOGETHER NOW! WE CLAN THE PLANET. In seguito ad un’accurata bonifica ambientale accompagnata da una necessaria sensibilizzazione della popolazione, la bellezza di un ambiente pulito conduce ad una cultura della pulizia e del rispetto della natura sempre maggiori.

Other must-visit museums include the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum and the Reina Sofia Art Center, all within walking distance of each other.

After a day of culture, it’s time to discover Madrid’s nightlife. The city offers a variety of bars and pubs where you can taste the delights of Spanish cuisine and have fun until the early hours of the morning. The La Latina neighborhood is famous for its bars and restaurants where you can try the typical bocadillo de calamares accompanied by a fresh sangria. The Chueca neighborhood, on the other hand, is the heart of the city’s LGBTQ+ community and offers a wide selection of gay-friendly venues.

In occasione della quinta edizione del Luxury Architecture Summit al Four Seasons Hotel di Milano, architetti, designer, brand ed esperti durante la Design Week che si è svolta dal 13 al 15 aprile scorso, si sono dati appuntamento ad un evento promosso da Urm Education-Silicon Valley, che fa parte di un progetto nato nel 2015 che si focalizza sugli scenari, le tendenze e prospettive dell’architettura di lusso attraverso lezioni esclusive e tavole rotonde. Tantissimi i relatori che si sono incontrati per questo confronto, tra questi citiamo: Massimiliano e Doriana Fuksas, Karim Rashid, Wiebke Ståhl (direttrice generale di Bugatti International), Monique Zappalà (direttrice creativa di Luxury Living Group, che per Bugatti realizza la Home Collection), Elke Palmaers di CB Maison (che collabora con il brand di alta moda femminile Elie Saab) e Piergiorgio Dal Santo, docente, esperto di gestione dei marchi di moda e lusso e fondatore nel 2021 di LP Attitude, società specializzata in digital transformation, marketing e comunicazione internazionale.

Wiebke Ståhl ha focalizzato il proprio intervento sulle strategie del brand Bugatti, che per quanto riguarda la Home Collection si è affidato a Luxury Living, mettendo al centro di questo progetto il proprio DNA. Oltre a Bugatti Home, per quanto riguarda la griffe parigina Elie Saab invece hanno puntato l’attenzione sulla nuova collezione di home interiors che è stata realizzata insieme a CB Maison e all’architetto Carlo Colombo, co-fondatore di A++ Group e della divisione Corporate Brand che tra i suoi tanti progetti ha anche affiancato brand come Versace, Armani, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Missoni e molti altri.

On the occasion of the fifth edition of the Luxury Architecture Summit at the Four Seasons Hotel in Milan, architects, designers, brands, and experts gathered during Design Week, which took place from April 13 to 15, for an event organized by Urm Education-Silicon Valley. This initiative, part of a project started in 2015, focuses on the scenarios, trends, and perspectives of luxury architecture through exclusive lectures and roundtable discussions. Wiebke Ståhl focused her speech on the strategies of the Bugatti brand, which entrusted Luxury Living with its Home Collection, centering the project on its DNA. As for Bugatti Home, regarding the Parisian label Elie Saab, the focus was on the new collection of home interiors realized together with CB Maison and architect Carlo Colombo, co-founder of A++ Group and the Corporate Brand division. Among his many projects, Colombo has collaborated with brands such as Versace, Armani, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Missoni, and many others.

Vitra ha introdotto una serie di sedute ergonomiche che utilizzano materiali naturali e sostenibili, mentre Herman Miller ha lanciato una linea di mobili per ufficio che integrano tecnologia smart e sostenibilità. What led you to launch a fashion brand with a football champion like Luis Figo?

What are the features of the Autumn/Winter 2024-25 collection?

La palette colori si differenzia nei temi della collezione che sono clear sand e route dal bianco a colori caldi come il pearl e il beige che rimandano alla sabbia fino a tonalità come il navi il blu, ma anche militare, lavanda e il rosa.

Pensate in futuro di creare anche una collezione prettamente dedicata al mondo del calcio?

Sicuramente ci saranno collaborazioni importanti di co-marketing e capsule per il mondo del calcio, come quelle per lo sci, il golf ed il tennis.

Il vostro prodotto e’ Made in Italy?

Si totalmente Made in Italy, massima attenzione alla produzione e ai materiali per garantire la qualità alta che ricerchiamo.

Who designs your collections?

We are a team of creatives where everyone brings their own value and know-how, mainly based on Luis’s tastes. We have deliberately chosen not to have a single designer to best represent our style and that of our target customers.

What is your color for this season?

The color palette differs in the themes of the collection, which are clear sand and route from white to warm colors like pearl and beige reminiscent of sand to shades like navy blue, military, lavender, and pink.

Do you plan to create a collection specifically dedicated to the world of football in the future?

Certainly, there will be important co-marketing collaborations and capsules for the world of football, as well as for skiing, golf, and tennis.

Nel 1980 Milano è un luogo a parte rispetto alla metropoli di oggi e viaggia ancora anni luce distante dal ruolo centrale che attualmente ha sulla scena internazionale. Le opportunità di lavorare nel mondo della moda sono poche e rare, e i mostri sacri del settore – prevalentemente figli dell’haute couture - osservano sospettosi la galassia nascente dello streetwear. In quell’anno, che traghetta gli sfavillanti seventies verso “la Milano da bere”, nasce Francesco Ragazzi. Uno scenario del genere avrebbe scoraggiato i più, ma è proprio il suo spirito appassionato e combattivo che spinge questo giovane astro nascente del fashion design a non accontentarsi e a voler imporre la propria visione estetica anche al di fuori dell’Italia.

A Milano, Francesco non si è mai sentito a casa. È per questo che inizia a viaggiare, fin da giovanissimo, in ogni luogo d’Europa e del Nord America, dove ritrova – soprattutto in città come Los Angeles – una fonte di ispirazione e di nutrimento alla propria creatività. Anche se oggi Ragazzi è decisamente uno dei gladiatori più popolari nell’arena dello streetwear, in passato ha dovuto affrontare diverse sfide, professionali e personali. La sua prima ambizione era quella di trovare lavoro come assistente fotografo, ma in quel periodo non vi erano grandi opportunità concrete. Così inizia uno stage nell’ufficio stampa di Moncler, inserendosi in un contesto che finirà per cambiargli la vita per sempre. Si trovava nel posto giusto al momento giusto: Moncler infatti stava vivendo in quegli anni un periodo di grande ascesa, una crescita che si è mossa di pari passo con la carriera di Francesco e gli ha permesso di fare un salto grande, quasi irripetibile, passando in pochi anni dal ruolo di stagista a quello di direttore creativo.

Nonostante questo enorme risultato, il vero anno di svolta per lui è il 2014, quando guidato dalla sua immortale passione per la fotografia, compie un passo determinante nella formazione di un’estetica più personale e di quello che sarebbe diventato il proprio progetto imprenditoriale più grande e ambizioso: pubblicare un libro di fotografie che documentavano la cultura skate della città di Los Angeles. Questo lavoro, nato da anni e anni di scrupolosa documentazione della scena skater della “Città degli angeli”, cattura un ritratto vibrante e suggestivo della sua vita urbana, delle sue sottoculture e delle profonde contraddizioni di questo agglome-

The opportunities to work in the world of fashion are few and far between, and the sacred monsters of the sector - predominantly sons of the haute couture - are suspicious about the emerging galaxy of the streetwear. In that year, which leads the sparkling seventies towards the “Milano da bere”, Francesco Ragazzi was born. A scenario like this would have discouraged the most, but it is precisely his passionate and combative spirit that pushes

In Milan, Francesco never felt at home. This is why he began to travel, from an early age, to every place in Europe and North America, where he found - especially in cities like Los Angeles - a source of inspiration to his creativity. Although Ragazzi is now one of the most popular gladiators in the streetwear arena, he has faced many challenges in the past, both professional and personal. His first ambition was to find work as an assistant photographer, but at that time there were no great concrete opportunities. So he began an internship in the Moncler press office, entering a context that will end up changing his life forever. He was in the right place at the right time: Moncler was in fact experiencing in those years a period of great rise, a growth that has moved hand in hand with the career of Francesco and allowed him

to make a big jump, almost unrepeatable, passing in a few years from the role of intern to that of creative director.

Despite this huge achievement, the real turning point for him is 2014, when driven by his immortal passion for photography, takes a decisive step in the formation of a more personal aesthetic and what would become its biggest and most ambitious business project: publishing a book of photographs documenting the skate culture of the city of Los Angeles. This work, born from years and years of scrupulous documentation of the skater scene of the “City of Angels”, captures a vibrant and evocative portrait of its urban life, its subcultures and the deep contradictions of this agglomeration. The lens of Ragazzi’s camera immortalizes, with great poetic realism, moments of extreme freedom that have become a collection of black and white images still of cult for fans around the world. The success of this book - entitled “Palm Angels” - convin-

Dopo il suo lancio, avvenuto durante la Fashion Week di Milano, Palm Angles ha rapidamente guadagnato riconoscibilità, facendo il suo debutto in passerella durante la Settimana della Moda di New York nel 2017. Questo primo show non ha solo mostrato a tutti la visione creativa di Ragazzi, ma ha iniziato a consolidare le radici di Palm Angels nel competitivo settore della moda.

Le collaborazioni hanno giocato un ruolo fondamentale per la crescita del marchio, in particolare quella del 2017 con Moncler. Sempre nel 2019 apre Pole Dance Aosta, il primo studio dedicato interamente alla pole dance. Dal 2020 la carriera di Simona si espande anche a livello social, collezionando video virali che hanno fatto il giro del mondo e vantando collaborazioni con brand e artisti come Sony, Universal, Sam Smith, Lil Nas X , Thierry Mugler e Buscofen.

Tocca i 2 milioni di followers su Tik tok e 125 mila su Instagram. Ad oggi Simona conduce una carriera itinerante che la porta ad insegnare in tantissime scuole italiane attraverso i suoi workshops e anche nel mondo con Polescape, un servizio di pole retreat creato da lei e i suoi due soci nel 2023.

Assolutamente da non perdere il Padiglione della Repubblica di San Marino alla “ 60. Esposizione Internazionale d’Arte – La Biennale di Venezia” con la mostra dell’artista americano Eddie Martinez con il progetto Nomader a cura di Alison M. Gingeras ospitato presso La Fucina del Futuro, il Padiglione di San Marino è progettato e realizzato da FR Istituto d’Arte Contemporanea S.p.a. , che si conferma nel ruolo di organizzatore, l’esposizione è ufficialmente visitabile dal pubblico fino al 24 novembre 2024. Il titolo Nomader sintetizza il rapporto di Martinez con le forme e le idee, passando dal disegno alla scultura e alla pittura, dalla figurazione all’astrazione e viceversa. Ecco un itinerario turistico per andare alla scoperta della regione Veneto in modo slow, fra natura, cultura, enogastronomia e tradizioni. Si tratta di un percorso cicloturistico ad anello di 7 tappe per 330 km, pensato per essere percorso in 5/7 o più giorni. Partendo da Nord da Treviso, da Est da Venezia, da Sud da Padova o da Ovest da Vicenza. Ogni tappa, della durata media di 3 o 4 ore (dipende dalle vostre gambe!) è l’occasione di fermarsi ad esplorare i dintorni, anche seguendo i consigli che trovate sul sito italiaslowtour.it (anche tradotti in inglese e in tedesco)!

La prima tappa è di 52 km, da Treviso a Jesolo. Attraversa anse verdi, antichi cimiteri di barche e borghi suggestivi, seguendo il precorso del Sile. È tutto un susseguirsi di vedute panoramiche fino a Musestre di Roncade. A Quarto d’Altino si può anche caricare la bici sul treno e raggiungere Venezia. Il percorso arriva fino al mare, a Jesolo, con possibili deviazioni interessanti ad esempio ad Altino, antica città romana nota per il suo patrimonio archeologico. Poi c’è una tappa nella Laguna Veneta: la pedalata inizia a Jesolo, seguendo il Sile fino alla penisola del Cavallino e poi ci si imbarca verso il Lido e Pellestrina. Meta finale Chioggia, la “Piccola Venezia”, dove fermarsi per visitare la città e il litorale di Sottomarina. A Chioggia andate a scoprire l’orologio della Torre di Sant’Andrea, l’orologio di origine medievale funzionante più antico del mondo. Attribuito al Dondi, si fa risalire al 1300. La Torre stessa è un museo verticale dove ogni piano ha un tema, fino a raggiungere il belvedere in cima per un bellissimo panorama sulla città. La terza tappa prende il via dal mare Adriatico di Chioggia e Sottomarina, seguendo il corso del fiume Bacchiglione. Conosciuto come “La Via del Sale e dello Zucchero”, questo percorso pianeggiante segue l’antica via fluviale delle barche di legno che trasportavano le merci. Possibili deviazioni lungo la strada includono i Colli Euganei o Monselice. Per una tappa enogastronomica originale, raggiungete il borgo medievale di Arquà Petrarca, uno dei borghi più belli d’Italia, e assaggiate il brodo di giuggiole, una vera primizia locale!

La quarta tappa è più breve, da Rovigo si dirige verso la Pedemontana veneta fino ad Asolo, la “città dai cento orizzonti”, dove vale la pena visitare il Castello della Regina

EN. Here is a tourist itinerary to explore the Veneto region in a slow, leisurely way, through nature, culture, gastronomy, and traditions. It’s a 330 km cycling loop route with 7 stages, designed to be completed in 5/7 or more days. You can start from the north in Treviso, the east in Venice, the south in Padua, or the west in Vicenza. The 52-kilometer opening stage travels from Treviso to Jesolo. It follows the Sile River through lush meanders, historic boat cemetery, and charming villages. A succession of sweeping vistas ascend to Musestre in Roncade. You may even put your bike on a train in Quarto d’Altino to go to Venice. The journey continues all the way to Jesolo, by the sea, with a few potentially worthwhile side trips, such as to Altino, an ancient Roman city renowned for its rich archeological legacy. The second stage goes through the Venetian Lagoon: the cycling starts in Jesolo, following the Sile to the Cavallino Peninsula, then you board a boat to the Lido and Pellestrina. The final destination is Chioggia, known as “Little Venice”, where you can stop to visit the town and the Sottomarina seaside. While in Chioggia, check out the clock on the Tower of Sant’Andrea, the oldest functioning medieval clock in the world, attributed to Dondi and dating back to 1300. The tower itself is a vertical museum, with each floor showcasing a theme, leading up to the top for a beautiful panoramic view of the city.

The third stage follows the path of the Bacchiglione River, beginning at the Adriatic Sea in Chioggia and Sottomarina. Known as “The Salt and Sugar Way,” this level road traces the historic river that was once used by wooden boats carrying cargo. Monselice and the Euganean Hills are two potential side trips along the route. Get to the historic village of Arquà Petrarca, one of the most picturesque places in Italy, and sample the specialty of the area, “brodo di giuggiole,” for a unique dining and wine experience!

The fourth stage is shorter, starting from Rovigo and heading towards the Veneto foothills, reaching Asolo, the “city of a hundred horizons,” where it’s worth visiting the Castle of

The following day, you can take the AIDA cycle route (which stands for “Alta Italia da Attraversare”), an intriguing cycling route that stretches across northern Italy, from France to Trieste. The Veneto section is about 300 km; in our itinerary, we complete the stage connecting Vicenza and Padova, two art cities with multiple UNESCO World Heritage Sites. For example, in Vicenza, you should see the Teatro Olimpico and Palladio’s Basilica (though it’s not a church). Palladio came to Vicenza in 1520, starting as an apprentice and being supported to become a great architect; the U.S. Congress has named him the father of American architecture... Just look at the White House!

The penultimate stage is lengthier, covering roughly 80 kilometers, and it travels through Vicenza province, going through scenic landscapes and art cities. The route mostly follows secondary roads after leaving Vicenza. You pass through the province of Treviso after leaving Marostica, where the intriguing medieval recreation of the Living Chess Game takes place every two years in September, and after Bassano del Grappa, before arriving in Volpago. Cyclists who love a little uphill cycling with a stunning perspective find the Montello promontory, with its rolling hills and wooded areas, to be a great place for outdoor sports. It is also a historically significant location connected to World War I events.

The seventh and final stage is 17 km, crossing the Treviso region along the Venice-Munich route, where the signage is complete and suitable even for less experienced cyclists. This is in the territory of the Conegliano and Valdobbiadene Prosecco Hills, also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The journey begins in Treviso and ends in the historic center of Serravalle, where you can discover the Cathedral of the Assumption and the Castle of San Martino. On the Ostiglia-Treviso cycle path, there’s also the Cervara Oasis, the last major swamp surviving along the Sile River. It’s a protected natural area where you can get closer to nature and the history of this riverine area. A great opportunity to park your bike and enjoy a walk, some birdwatching, natural photography, or some educational workshops organized by the park’s staff.

La settima e ultima tappa è di 17 km, attraverso la Marca trevigiana sul tracciato della Venezia-Monaco dove la segnaletica è completa e adatta anche a ciclisti meno esperti. Siamo nel territorio delle Colline del Prosecco di Conegliano e Valdobbiadene, a sua volta Patrimonio dell’UNESCO. Il viaggio inizia a Treviso e termina nel centro storico di Serravalle, dove scoprire la Cattedrale dell’Assunta e il Castello di San Martino. Sulla ciclabile Ostiglia-Treviso si incontra anche l’Oasi di Cervara, l’ultima grande palude sopravvissuta lungo il Sile. Un ambiente naturale protetto in cui avvicinarsi alla natura e alla storia di questa area fluviale. Una buona occasione per parcheggiare la bici e godersi una passeggiata, un po’ di birdwatching, fotografia naturalistica o qualche laboratorio didattico organizzato dallo staff del parco.

Di recente, Charleston, nella Carolina del Sud, è entrata e piedi pari in diverse classifiche mondiali per alcuni incredibili aspetti della città che colpiscono i turisti che la visitano. La strada principale, King Street, è stata definita una delle vie più pittoresche d’America. Incarna alla perfezione l’anima di questa storica cittadina del Sud, con le case color pastello, i portici, i balconcini di ferro battuto e le insegne storiche. Oggi, la maggior parte di questi edifici ospita boutique, gallerie d’arte e deliziosi ristorantini e tutto il quartiere storico è frequentato soprattutto la sera quando l’atmosfera, alla luce dei lampioni di una volta, diventa molto vivace. È anche considerata una delle città più romantiche degli Stati Uniti e non stentiamo a crederlo. Qui si respira un’atmosfera rilassata, tipica degli Stati del Sud, e sono tanti gli scorci che fanno sognare.

Questa città che oggi conta poco più 150mila abitanti – più o meno come la nostra Reggio-Emilia – quando fu fondata alla fine del 1600 rivestiva una grandissima importanza socioculturale per il Paese che stava nascendo. Colonizzata dai britannici, deve il suo nome a Re Carlo II d’Inghilterra e, grazie al suo porto, era il centro di smistamento principale nella rotta degli schiavi che venivano poi mandati a lavorare nelle tante piantagioni che ancora oggi si possono visitare intorno alla città. Da non perdere è una visita all’African American Museum che ne ripercorre la storia. When we find ourselves in this condition, the more we try to sleep, sometimes following advice on the internet (like drinking camomile tea, reading a boring book), the more our anxiety grows.

Often what we consider to be the fastest solution pushes us towards the use of psychotropic drugs, risking addiction. Simply attempting to forget the problem without facing it, can cause an inability to handle the situation.

Are there alternative solutions?

Can mindfulness help us deal with this problem?

Here are some tips from the Mindfulness practice that you can easily put into practice:

1. The Beginner’s Mind

Having a beginner’s mindset means being open and curious to new ways of sleep, such as discovering different activities and changing routines. Consider every night a new night.

2. Non-effort

Putting in effort and forcing yourself to fall asleep most of the time is counterproductive. Sleep is a natural process.

Il caldo afoso di Roma lo conoscono bene sia i romani che i turisti, e per quanto sia meraviglioso godersi le serate al centro, quando finalmente la temperatura diventa accettabile, durante il giorno potrebbe essere un’ottima idea spingersi sulla vicina costa tirrenica, dove ci sono diverse spiagge, alcune molto famose, altre meno conosciute, e alcuni inaspettati gioielli dove il mare è sorprendentemente limpido e permette di godersi una giornata piacevole ad appena un’ora di macchina dalla Capitale. Ecco dunque una piccola classifica delle spiagge più belle e imperdibili intorno a Roma, assolutamente da visitare.

SANTA MARINELLA

A circa un’ora a nord di Roma, facilmente raggiungibile dalla Via Aurelia, questa piccola località che basa la sua esistenza quasi esclusivamente sulle attività turistiche legate al mare è davvero deliziosa, con un elegante lungomare e un porticciolo romantico.

Ma l’attrazione principale è la lunga spiaggia sabbiosa (l’unica, visto che qui per il resto la costa è principalmente rocciosa e frastagliata) perfetta per tutti, comprese le famiglie con i bambini. Santa Marinella viene definita “Perla del Mediterraneo”, e non a caso: rispetto alle altre spiagge che troverete nei dintorni di Roma, qui sarete sorprendentemente accolti da un mare limpido e cristallino, che vi farà venire voglia di stare a mollo per tutto il giorno. Attenzione, però: non esiste spiaggia libera, quindi si dovrà usufruire del posto con ombrellone e sdraio, ovviamente a pagamento, di uno degli stabilimenti lungo la piccola baia sabbiosa. I prezzi, tuttavia, sono abbordabili per una giornata al mare o anche per chi volesse passare qualche tempo in villeggiatura.

GAETA

In questo caso, si scende a sud della Capitale, ed essendo a circa 120 km di distanza, conviene visitare questa parte della costa laziale almeno per un weekend. Anche qui, la bellezza di spiagge e calette non troppo frequentate (se non magari in agosto) vi farà innamorare, in particolare la caletta denominata Le Scissure, perfetta per chi vuole evitare le orde di turisti e gli stabilimenti balneari e cerca un po’ di relax in tranquillità, oltre che un bellissimo mare. SANTA MARINELLA

Una delle più famose, assolutamente da visitare, è la spiaggia delle Grotte di Nerone, situata tra scogliere frastagliate e dove si possono vedere i resti dell’antica dimora del famigerato imperatore romano. Troverete anche diversi tratti di spiaggia libera, come Lido delle Sirene, Anzio Colonia e Cincinnato, nonché molti stabilimenti balneari attrezzati per le famiglie e per l’accoglienza dei più piccoli.

LADISPOLI

Ad appena 40 km a sud della Capitale troviamo Ladispoli, che si situa alla foce di due piccoli fiumi: il Sanguinara e il Vaccina. LADISPOLI

Tutti lo conoscono almeno di nome, tutti sanno che è uno dei monumenti che qualsiasi turista di passaggio nella Capitale dovrebbe andare a visitare. Stiamo parlando ovviamente del Pantheon, che racchiude in sé una storia lunga e variegata, anche perché la sua funzione è cambiata nel corso dei secoli, a partire dalle sue origini, raccontate anche dal suo nome: un tempio di età romana, che era dedicato a tutti gli dèi (dalle parole greche pas, tutto, e theos, dio). Ecco allora tutto quello che c’è da sapere su questo meraviglioso monumento, davvero imperdibile se vi trovate a passare nel cuore del centro storico di Roma.

COME TUTTO È INIZIATO

Oggi il Pantheon si trova in pieno centro storico, nell’antico rione Pigna, ma quando venne fondato era il 27 a.C., e fu il genero di Augusto, Marco Vespasiano Agrippa, a voler dedicare un tempio a tutte le divinità, affidando l’incarico della costruzione a Lucio Cocceio Aucto. Il tempio originale fu danneggiato però da due successivi incendi, perciò l’imperatore Adriano lo fece restaurare, tra il 120 e il 124 d.C. E se, dai resti rinvenuti dagli scavi archeologici della fine del 1800 sappiamo che l’edificio originario di età augustea era a pianta rettangolare, fatto di blocchi di travertino rivestiti di lastre di marmo, con capitelli di bronzo e cariatidi e statue sul frontone, la struttura della ricostruzione effettuata nell’epoca di Adriano è invece di forma circolare, quella che conosciamo e ammiriamo ancora oggi, insieme a un portico di colonne corinzie che sorreggono il frontone triangolare. L’iscrizione che ancora oggi leggiamo è quella originaria dell’edificio: “M. AGRIPPA L. F. COS. TERTIUM FECIT”, ovvero “Marco Agrippa, figlio di Lucio, console per la terza volta, edificò”. Una delle particolarità più interessanti della struttura è la grande cella circolare, detta “rotonda”, che conta otto grandi piloni che devono sostenere la grande cupola emisferica, che rappresenta la volta celeste, casa di tutti gli dèi a cui il tempio era dedicato.

Al centro della cupola c’è la famosa apertura circolare (il cosiddetto “oculo”) che permette di illuminare l’interno. Ancora oggi, e nonostante i quasi duemila anni che conta, questa è una delle cupole più grandi del mondo, soprattutto contando che è costruita in calcestruzzo non armato. Una delle curiosità più famose del monumento è il fatto che la pioggia sembri non entrare dal foro sul soffitto: questo accade perché all’interno dell’oculo si forma una corrente ascensionale che disgrega le

We are talking about the Pantheon, which embodies a long and varied history, mostly because its function has changed over the centuries starting from its origins, and also told by its name: a temple from the Roman age, which was dedicated to all the gods (from the Greek words pas, all, and theos, god). So here’s everything you need to know about this wonderful monument, a truly not to be missed if you

HOW IT ALL STARTED

Today the Pantheon is located in the historic center, in the ancient Pigna district, but when it was founded it was 27 BC, and it was Augustus’ son-in-law, Marco Vespasiano Agrippa, who wanted to dedicate a temple to all the deities, entrusting the task of the construction to Lucio Cocceio Aucto. However, the original temple was damaged by two successive fires, so the emperor Hadrian had it restored, between 120 and 124 AD. From the remains found during archaeological excavations at the end of the 1800s, we know that the original building from the Augustan age had a rectangular plan, made of travertine blocks covered with marble slabs, with bronze capitals and caryatids and statues on the pediment.

The structure of the reconstruction carried out in Hadrian’s time is instead circular in shape, the one we still know and admire today, together with a portico of Corinthian columns that support the triangular pediment. The inscription that we can still read today is the original one of the building: “M. AGRIPPA L.F. COS. TERTIUM FECIT”, or “Marcus Agrippa, son of Lucius, consul for the third time, built”. One of the most interesting features of the structure is the large circular cell, called “rotunda”, which has eight large pylons that must support the large hemispherical dome, which represents the celestial vault, home to all the gods to whom the temple was dedicated. At the center of the dome is the famous circular opening (the so-called “oculus”) which allows the interior to be illuminated. Even today, and despite the almost two thousand years that counts, this is one of the largest domes in the world, especially counting that it is built in non-reinforced concrete.

LE FUNZIONI SUCCESSIVE

Per sua fortuna, il Pantheon si è salvato dalle distruzioni dei monumenti romani avvenute nel corso del Medioevo, perché nel 609 fu trasformato da Papa Bonifacio IV in chiesa cristiana, con il nome di Sancta Maria ad Martyres, nome che proviene dalla presenza delle reliquie di diversi martiri cristiani che furono portate nei sotterranei dell’antico tempio romano. Fu il primo tempio pagano diventato una chiesa cristiana. Per questo motivo, è l’unico edificio romano rimasto intatto e che ha continuato ad avere una funzione religiosa dalla sua fondazione a oggi.

A partire dal Rinascimento, tra l’altro, all’interno del Pantheon furono sepolti diversi artisti importanti, tra cui Raffaello Sanzio e Annibale Carracci. Inoltre, vi riposano diversi reali, ad esempio Vittorio Emanuele II, suo figlio Umberto I e la Regina Margherita.

One of the most famous curiosities of the monument is the fact that the rain does not seem to enter through the hole in the ceiling: this happens because an updraft forms inside the oculus which disrupts the raindrops before they fall inside the temple. Thus, even when it is pouring outside, inside the Pantheon one has the impression of being dry, despite the hole in the ceiling.

ITS NEXT PURPOSE

Fortunately, the Pantheon was saved from the destruction of Roman monuments during the Middle Ages, because in 609 it was transformed by Pope Boniface IV into a Christian church, with the name of Sancta Maria ad Martyres, a name that comes from the presence of the relics of several Christian martyrs who were taken to the basement of the ancient Roman temple. It was the first pagan temple to become a Christian church. For this reason, it is the only Roman building which has remained intact and which has continued to have a religious function from its foundation to today. Starting from the Renaissance, among other things, several important artists were buried inside the Pantheon, including Raffaello Sanzio and Annibale Carracci. In addition, several royals rest there, for example Vittorio Emanuele II, his son Umberto I and Queen Margherita.

CURIOSITÀ E SORPRESE

Il Pantheon, come unico monumento della romanità rimasto intatto, ha influenzato moltissimi altri monumenti in ogni epoca. In particolare, un architetto che è stato particolarmente colpito dalla struttura del Pantheon è stato Andrea Palladio. Ad oggi, tanti monumenti in Italia e all’estero riecheggiano l’architettura di questo antico tempio. Basti pensare alla Basilica di San Francesco di Paola a Napoli, al Cisternone di Livorno, o al Mausoleo della Bela Rosin a Torino. Ma anche alla famosa rotonda di Thomas Jefferson dell’Università della Virginia, o alla biblioteca della Columbia University a New York. Non è un caso che la piazza in cui si trova si chiami “Piazza della Rotonda”; infatti, la Rotonda, o Rotonna, in dialetto romanesco, è proprio il nome con cui gli abitanti di Roma hanno sempre chiamato il Pantheon. L’ingresso è gratuito e si può visitare ogni giorno dalle 9.00 alle 19.00, con l’ultimo ingresso alle 18.30. Attenzione, perché di sabato e nei giorni festivi però è necessaria la prenotazione.
