UNA STAGIONE PERFETTA PER VIAGGIARE

Non fa troppo freddo, non fa ancora troppo caldo. I prezzi sono sicuramente più accessibili. Insomma, Aprile è senza dubbio un mese perfetto per partire, organizzare un weekend che con la luce solare consente di allungare le giornate. In questo numero vi proponiamo alcune mete interessanti. A cominciare dalla penisola sorrentina, terra che con la sua bellezza ha saputo conquistare scrittori, poeti, pittori e artisti: tratto di costa campana caratterizzata da una storia antica, da un mare cristallino e da una lunga tradizione gastronomica. Per un long-weekend da vip, la proposta è quella del Principato di Monaco. Non è solo un appuntamento sportivo, quello del GP di Formula 1 di maggio, ma un piccolo gioiello da scoprire. Montecarlo è una delle mete più suggestive in Europa recentemente insignito anche del titolo di migliore destinazione europea 2024 dal sito European Best Destinations. Situato tra la Francia e l’Italia, qui convergono arte, cultura, eccellenza e patrimonio storico. Gli itinerari slow tour ci portano invece alla scoperta delle terre di Matilde di Canossa, da vivere come al solito con calma. Tra le mete più lontane Si Viaggia ci propone Scottsdale,in Arizona, una delle città più cool e in forte tendenza degli Stati Uniti. Specie da quando molti sportivi e celeb hanno deciso di lasciare la patinata California per trasferirsi a vivere in uno dei luoghi più rilassanti, meno affollati e con il maggior numero di giornate soleggiate (ben 330) del Paese.

La Milano Design week 2024 torna protagonista nel calendario del design: dal 16 al 21 Aprile il più importante appuntamento internazionale per la design industry si svolgerà negli spazi di Rho Fiera, a Milano. La Manifestazione propone un ampio ventaglio merceologico di arredi che si distinguono per forza espressiva e innovazione funzionale, tecnologica, materica, pensati per valorizzare lo scenario domestico. Ingegno, visione, innovazione, eccellenza sostenibile ed emozione rappresentano il lessico familiare delle aziende e dei brand che espongono al International Design week che, oggi, si conferma sempre più globale, inclusivo. Ogni anno vengono presentati prototipi e novità in fatto di arredo, spazi domestici e stili di vita: camere da letto, zone pranzo e living, corridoi d’ingresso e ambienti di servizio, spazi outdoor con i loro mobili e guardaroba, gli imbotti, i tavoli e le sedute diventano teatro di una narrazione che parte dalla stanza per esplorare come cambia il modo di vivere e di, conseguenza, l’abitare e l’arredare.

Quattro giorni di gara all’insegna di glamour, stile, motori e paesaggi mozzafiato lungo un percorso di oltre 1000 chilometri che porterà gli equipaggi da Milano a Sanremo per fare ritorno nel capoluogo lombardo la domenica, dopo la sosta del terzo giorno a Montecarlo. Dal 14 al 17 marzo 2024 gli equipaggi italiani e stranieri, maschili e femminili avranno l’occasione di cimentarsi in un percorso reso ancora più tecnico da un aumento delle prove speciali, che ora superano le 100, comprese quelle di media. Più di 140 comuni attraversati nell’ottica di creare un format di gara ancor più avvincente ed esclusivo che nelle passate edizioni, senza dimenticare la tradizione.

Il progetto. Vigevano si prepara ad ospitare, all’interno del maestoso Castello Sforzesco, un evento straordinario che promette di unire passato e futuro, tradizione e innovazione, esaltando la creatività in tutte le sue forme.

La Biennale d’arte di Vigevano si propone di trasformare la città in un palcoscenico dove artisti provenienti da tutto il mondo convergono per esprimere la propria visione e interpretazione della contemporaneità.

Mission. La missione è quella di creare una connessione tra culture, stili e linguaggi artistici, offrendo al pubblico un’esperienza di condivisione e interazione. La Biennale non è solo un’esperienza per gli appassionati d’arte, ma un’opportunità per partecipare a eventi dal taglio educational, workshop, concerti, spettacoli ed eventi speciali coordinati da un direttore artistico d’eccezione come Andrea Fumagalli, co-founder dei Bluvertigo. Presentata da AF-MetaStrategy, GATE Magazine ha incontrato Arianna Forni per scoprire di più sulla manifestazione.

Arianna, qual è stata la fonte di ispirazione e la visione che ha guidato la creazione della Biennale?

La Biennale di Vigevano è nata dalla visione di coniugare la ricca eredità artistica di Vigevano con l’arte contemporanea, creando un evento che esplora e celebra diverse forme artistiche in un contesto storico unico e che possa valorizzare ulteriormente la comunicazione dell’arte grazie alla fusione con la straordinarietà della storia in cui siamo contestualizzati. La nostra mission è anche la ridistribuzione della cultura e solo un

grande evento come una vera Biennale d’Arte può darci la possibilità di trasmettere messaggi importanti, pregni di significato e di bellezza come l’innovazione, la diversità, l’accessibilità, l’inclusività e la creazione di una community forte che sostenga e partecipi alle nostre attività.

Quali sfide principali hanno caratterizzato la realizzazione della Biennale e quali strategie sono state adottate per affrontarle con successo?

Organizzare un evento complesso di questa portata ha presentato sfide logistiche e creative, ma grazie alla dedizione e alla grande passione del team, e al supporto della comunità e di molti partner, stiamo creando un momento di condivisione artisticoculturale con caratteristiche uniche a partire dalla sua prima edizione.

Quali artisti o lavori artistici saranno prominenti e quali criteri hanno determinato la loro selezione?

Abbiamo un’eclettica selezione di artisti che vanno da talenti emergenti a nomi affermati, tutti scelti per la loro capacità di ispirare e stimolare il pensiero critico attraverso le loro opere. Per dare un’ulteriore spinta internazionale al progetto, abbiamo instaurato uno stretto rapporto di collaborazione con la Biennale di Larnaca. Ci saranno opere di grandi maestri quali William Turner, Paul Cézanne, Juan Gris, Guercino, Fantin-Latour. Questi capolavori rappresentano la quintessenza di un’esposizione senza confini, dove il passato dialoga col presente e il futuro si rivela di fronte ai nostri occhi. Il cuore pulsante della Biennale batte con la riscoperta e la valorizzazione di opere di grande valore culturale a rischio di oblio, che trovano nuova vita e significato. In questo modo, non solo si preserva il patrimonio artistico, ma si dà anche nuova vita a opere che altrimenti sarebbero state perdute per sempre e invece vengono restaurate, catalogate e rese accessibili al pubblico.

Quali risultati culturali e sociali auspica di ottenere mediante l’organizzazione di questa edizione della Biennale?

L’obiettivo è quello di creare un impatto culturale duraturo, la continuità è fondamentale, non siamo “di passaggio”, siamo qui per restare e continuare a crescere insieme a tutta la grande famiglia dell’arte che abbiamo costruito e continueremo ad ampliare. Invitiamo tutti a partecipare alla Biennale e ai suoi eventi per esplorare come l’arte può essere accattivante, empatica, immersiva, educativa, colorata e tenue, delicata e impattante,

l’arte è un dialogo costante con la propria personale introspezione.

Come possiamo definire la Biennale d’Arte di Vigevano?

La Biennale d’Arte di Vigevano non è definibile solo come un evento artistico, ma un crocevia di interazioni tra artisti, collezionisti, appassionati, istituzioni ed industria. È uno spazio in cui le idee prendono forma, dove le passioni si intrecciano e le visioni si concretizzano. La Biennale si distingue per essere uno strumento di amplificazione delle connessioni e delle collaborazioni, un vero e proprio laboratorio di creatività e innovazione. Noi la interpretiamo come un faro culturale, che illumina percorso dell’arte attraverso di storia, proiettandolo verso il futuro. In questa straordinaria cornice, unisce i maestri del passato con gli innovatori del presente, offrendo un’esperienza unica di connessione e scoperta.

LA CROCIERA, UN’ESPERIENZA DIVERSA

Le crociere sono modalità di viaggio e di turismo sempre più frequentate .Un vero fenomeno di massa in continua crescita. In aperta concorrenza con spiagge, alberghi e villaggi. Chi le frequenta ,ad ogni età, può elencare le ragioni evidenti di un gradimento in espansione.

Pochi direbbero che il vero motivo per cui scelgono di muoversi su navi sempre più grandi ed ospitali è perché in realtà sono anche vere e proprie macchine del tempo Pensateci. A bordo gli orari sono avulsi dai fusi orari e ancor più dai ritmi dei paesi di provenienza. In pratica ,come sa chi ha già vissuto questa esperienza, si entra in uno spazio/tempo del tutto autonomo dal resto del mondo. Immediato ne deriva il beneficio in termini di relax mentale ed emotivo, rispetto alla routine quotidiana convulsa o piatta, a seconda dei casi e delle condizioni individuali, della vita contemporanea.

Poi di solito si naviga di notte senza cognizione precisa delle distanze e dei tempi di percorrenza consumati durante il sonno o il divertimento. E la visita delle mete a terra durante il giorno, si manifesta come una occasione vagamente virtuale, in condizione di assoluto riposo fisico, contrariamente ad altri tipi di spostamento a breve o lungo raggio. E senza lo stress che per alcuni comporta il confronto con genti e mondi nuovi. Perché il bastimento/ astronave è lì che attende il ritorno a bordo di tutti in sicurezza e comfort. Grazie a capolavori di gigantismo tecnologico e automatizzato che azzera gli impatti cronologici e culturali con testimonianze di altre e spesso antichissime civiltà o avveniristiche società. In un continuo mix fra passato e futuro. Che la crociera accoglie nel suo tempo ,che è quello di un eterno presente.

Thanks to masterpieces of technological and automated gigantism that eliminate the chronological and cultural impacts with testimonies of other and often very ancient civilizations or futuristic societies. «Nel tour torno a raccontarmi dal vivo, con la stessa passione degli inizi: guardando il pubblico negli occhi in un’atmosfera più intima». Mario Venuti, cantastorie siciliano, celebra un triplo traguardo: i suoi primi 60 anni di vita, 40 anni di carriera e un nuovo album “Tra la carne e il cielo” uscito il 19 aprile.

« É ricco di sonorità varie e ricercate contaminazioni», conferma l’interprete di brani come Crudele, Fortuna, Veramente, Mai come ieri e Un altro posto nel mondo.

Nel live propone il suo nuovo undicesimo album in studio, che arriva dopo “Tropitalia” un disco di canzoni italiane rivisitate in chiave “bossanova”, nato nel mito di grandi come Caetano Veloso e Gilberto Gil.

«Suoniamo un repertorio di canzoni mie classiche, un (bel) po’ del Brasile che piace a me, e adesso anche i nuovi brani. Ritrovo un’affinità elettiva nella cultura brasiliana, terra del samba e della bossanova. Quel misto di allegria e leggera malinconia che chiamano saudade mi appartengono, sia nell’aspetto musicale sia nei temi della vita che metto nei testi. È un universo dove mi specchio perfettamente. Mi sono divertito a vestire le canzoni italiane di armonie brasiliane, un tappeto di percussioni: cantare in portoghese Nel blu dipinto di blu, in una versione bahiana con i ritmi del candomblé e riferimenti alle divinità africane. È stato un incontro di culture».

Dal punto di vista del sound, “Tra la carne e il cielo”, si presenta come un’evoluzione elettrificata del precedente “Tropitalia”. Che temi affronta?

“I rediscovered I have the same passion now as I did at the beginning” says Mario Venuti who celebrates a career spanning 40 years with a new album and a new tour.

EN. “On tour I go back to telling my story live, with the same passion now as I did at the beginning: looking the audience in the eyes in a more intimate atmosphere.” Mario Venuti, Sicilian storyteller, celebrates a triple milestone: his first 60 years of life, 40 years of career and a new album “Tra la Carne e il Cielo” released on April 19th. “It is rich with various sounds and refined contaminations”, confirms the interpreter of songs such as Crudele, Fortuna, Veramente, Mai Come Ieri and Un Altro Posto nel Mondo.

In the live show he introduces his new eleventh studio album, which comes after “Tropitalia”, an album of Italian songs revisited in a bossanova style born from the greats such as Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil. “We play a repertoire of my classic songs, a (quite) bit of Brazil that I like, and now also the new songs. I find an elective affinity in Brazilian culture, the land of samba and bossanova. That mixture of joy and light melancholy that they call saudade belongs to me, both in a musical aspect and in the themes of life that I put into the lyrics. It’s a universe where I mirror myself perfectly. «Da tutta una vita sperimento la ricerca di un equilibrio tra la mia natura sensuale, terrena, e una certa tensione spirituale, come una sorta di redenzione dall’inferno del mondo che ci circonda. Le canzoni di questo disco, senza che lo avessi previsto, abbracciano questo tema. E in fin dei conti mi sembra di aver trovato il giusto bilanciamento. I due aspetti, quello della carne e quello del cielo, non si escludono l’un l’altro. Possono perfettamente convivere esaltando la nostra natura umana».

«In questo scatto ritrovo tutta la gioia di due bambini immersi nel gioco divertente e pericoloso della vita. Forse è proprio il bambino che rappresenta in maniera inconsapevole il ponte tra la sensualità del mondo e la purezza del cuore, l’equilibrio tra la carne e il cielo».

Nel singolo “Degrado” canta “la vita qui è sempre tutto un mettere una toppa qui, una toppa lì”. C’è speranza nel futuro?

«Ragioni economiche alle quali sono seguite lo sfaldamento di certi presìdi istituzionali, in aggiunta ad un lassismo morale generale, hanno portato molte nostre città, soprattutto al sud, ad un livello di incuria e abbandono mai visto. La situazione ha raggiunto vette tragiche che ovviamente possono sfociare nel comico. La canzone prova a dipingere, sarcasticamente, alcuni quadretti di degrado quotidiano. Nonostante tutto, però, il legame affettivo che abbiamo con i nostri luoghi, ci fa comunque rimanere».

Sente di essere cambiato rispetto ai suoi inizi?

«Non credo. La mia natura è sempre la stessa. L’entusia-

From a sound point of view, “Tra la Carne e il Cielo” presents itself as an electrified evolution of your previous album “Tropitalia”. What themes does it address?

“All my life I have been searching for a balance between my sensual, earthly side and a certain spiritual tension, as a sort of a redemption from the hell in the world around us. The songs in this album, without having foreseen it, embrace this theme. And in the end I seem to have found the right balance. The two aspects, that of flesh and that of sky, are not mutually exclusive. They can perfectly coexist, exalting our human nature.”

The album cover is a photo of you with your sister as children smiling together.

“In this shot I find all the joy of two children immersed in a fun and dangerous game of life. Perhaps it is precisely the child who unconsciously represents the bridge between the sensuality of the world and the purity of the heart, and the balance between flesh and sky.”

In the single Degrado you sing “life here is always all about putting a patch here, a patch there”. Is there hope for the future?

“Economic reasons which were followed by the disintegration of certain institutional structures, in addition to a general moral laxity, have brought many of our cities, especially in the south, to a level of neglect and abandonment we’ve never seen before. The situation has reached tragic heights which obviously can lead to comedy. The song tries to paint, sarcastically, some pictures of daily degradation. Despite

smo non è cambiato, diciamo che è più direzionato. Ero un ragazzino appassionato di musica pop, e da allora ho sempre inseguito lo stesso ideale estetico: creare una canzone, con un’armonia elegante e un contenuto. L’esperienza ha aggiunto colori sempre nuovi, suoni, ritmi e sperimentazioni. Realizzando album diversi, più emozionali, altri più razionali o ironicamente intellettuali come Il tramonto dell’Occidente».

Il segreto?

«Non annoiare mai se stessi e il pubblico. Sono un trasformista. Uno Zelig. Mi piace cambiare i costumi, poi sotto ci sono sempre io».

In quarant’anni di carriera, qual è il suo più grande rammarico?

«Nessuno. Ho sempre inseguito la verità del momento. Già prima di fare un disco ho in testa un’idea di suono e di scrittura per le canzoni. Posso cambiare registro, dal

The experience has added new colors, sounds, rhythms and experiments. By making different albums, some more emotional, others more rational or ironically intellectual, like The Sunset of the West.”

What’s your secret?

“Never bore yourself or the public. I’m a quick-change artist. A Zelig. I like changing costumes, but it’s always me underneath.”

Sono stato mainstream di tanto in tanto e poi sono ritornato nella mia dimensione primaria. di libertà. Mai condizionato dall’industria discografica, né dallo streaming. Oggi sono indipendente. Non ho etichette. Le ultime esperienze non sono state felici. Preferisco l’autarchia, investo io. Suono io, decido io. Spero di cantare sul palco fino a 100 anni».

Nel tempo libero come si distrae?

«Coltivo, poto le mie piante di olivi e mandorle. Faccio il contadino. Il richiamo alle radici, alla fine ha avuto il sopravvento. Ho comprato un terreno in campagna, a Noto, che sarà il mio buon ritiro. Quest’anno ho già consumato il mio buonissimo olio. In famiglia avevamo la terra e mio padre provava anche a spiegarmi le differenze tra le erbe, a riconoscere la borragine dal tarassaco, ma allora non lo ascoltavo. Oggi che non c’è più, me ne pento. Per me, allora, esisteva solo la musica, dalla mattina alla sera. Mi guardo allo specchio e con l’età gli somiglio sempre di più».

In your forty-year career, what is your biggest regret?

“None. I have always chased the truth of the moment. Even before making a record I have an idea of sound and songwriting in my head. I can change tone, from the sentimental to the most crude of current affairs, according to what I want to achieve. Music is Heaven and Hell. It creates a suffering that somehow sacralizes what you achieve.”

You never turned into a music employee.

“I’ve never been a best seller, but I’ve been making records for 40 years. I have been mainstream from time to time and then returned to my primary dimension. That of freedom. Never conditioned by the recording industry, nor by streaming. Today I am independent. I have no labels. The latest experiences have not been happy. I prefer autarky, I invest. I play. I decide. I hope to sing on stage until I’m 100.”

How do you entertain yourself in your free time?

“I grow and prune my olive and almond trees. I’m a farmer. This reference to my roots ultimately prevailed. I bought land in the countryside, in Noto, which will be a good retirement for me. This year I have already consumed my own delicious oil. In my family we had land and my father even tried to explain to me the differences between herbs, such a show to recognize borage from dandelion.

But I didn’t listen to him then. Now that he is no longer here, I regret it. For me at that time, only music existed from morning until night. I look at myself in the mirror and as I get older I look more and more like him.”

Una storia musicale di oltre cinquant’anni, intrecciando parole e melodie. Rosalino Cellamare, diventato Ron, grazie a un guizzo di Lucio Dalla ai tempi di Banana Republic, continua a regalare emozioni. «Una carriera così era il sogno che avevo da bambino», confessa l’artista, nato 70 anni fa a Dorno, (Pavia).

Sempre pronto a mettere tutto se stesso «Al centro esatto della Musica», come il titolo del suo nuovo tour (parafrasando uno dei suoi primi album). Un manifesto della passione e dedizione per le note, che ha fatto di lui uno dei più profondi interpreti della canzone italiana.

Che tipo di live porta in scena?

«Uno spettacolo particolare, lo definirei teatrale e intimo. Con una sala prove sul palcoscenico aperta al pubblico. Suono brani che non cantavo da tanto tempo, come Cambio stagione che Carmen Consoli scrisse per me. E poi i classici da “Una città per cantare” a “Il gigante e la bambina” fino a “Cosa sarà” e “Vorrei incontrarti tra 100 anni”. Note ed emozioni al centro. Vivo per la musica, non potrei mai farne a meno».

Regala al pubblico anche la sua versione di “Lontano Lontano” di Luigi Tenco. Con questo brano ha aperto l’ultima edizione del “Premio Tenco”, quando lo scorso ottobre ha ricevuto il “Premio alla Carriera”. Cosa vi accomuna?

«Avevo solo 13 anni, quando l’ascoltai per la prima volta alla radio. Rimasi senza fiato, trovai nella voce

And then the classics from “Una Città per Cantare” to “Il Gigante e la Bambina” up to “Cosa Sarà” and “Vorrei Incontrarti tra 100 Anni”. di Tenco e nelle sue parole una straordinaria intensità e sensibilità. Mi assomiglia: la sua malinconia e la sua tenerezza. E’ un brano senza tempo che parla di un amore ormai troppo lontano, e che mai avrebbe potuto cancellare. Quando la interpreto, mi appoggio a questi sentimenti. Ogni volta mi commuovo».

Il cantautorato continua a resistere rispetto al popolare mainstream?

«Negli anni ’70 , l’epoca dell’impegno, e poi dopo negli ‘80 i cantautori presero strade nuove, cambiando tutto e tutti. Oggi ci sono giovanissimi che mi piacciono molto, come Mahmood, che ho apprezzato a Sanremo quando ha cantato, Come è profondo il mare di Lucio Dalla, Ghali, interprete originale e i Santi Francesi. C’è una continuazione».

In scena omaggia anche il suo grande amico Lucio Dalla.

«Lucio mi ha incoraggiato a essere un artista libero senza maschere, a non avere schemi. A osare con le canzoni, con l’interpretazione. A far uscire tutta l’anima, quello che hai dentro. E’ stato il suo primo insegnamento. Lucio era così, libero e vero. Mi ha indicato la strada giusta, manca molto

“I was only 13 years old when I heard it for the first time on the radio. I gasped. I found an extraordinary intensity and sensitivity in Tenco’s voice and in his words. «E’ successo soprattutto agli esordi, venivo da Garlasco in provincia di Pavia. Non c’erano i talent come Amici o X Factor. Io mi buttavo nei concorsi di voci nuove, tormentando i miei genitori. Ero un fan di Gianni Morandi. Poi quando ho iniziato, mi sono reso conto che dovevo fare sul serio. Che bisogna aver coraggio. E il mio tempo è diventato più interessante e pieno di meraviglie».

C’è stato uno più speciale?

«Quello con David Bowie. Eravamo nello stesso ascensore, a New York. Solo noi due. Io sudavo freddo, ammutolito di fronte al mio idolo assoluto. Era bellissimo, elegante. Vestito come un lord inglese. La prima cosa che pensai con un sussulto di gioia? Era più basso di me. Sono riuscito a trovargli almeno un difetto. Per fortuna che con Lou Reed andò meglio».

Gli ha parlato?

«Nel 1982 la Rca mi mandò tre mesi in America a “studiare”. Dovevamo registrare un’intervista. Lui era in ritardo perché la sera prima aveva spaccato una bottiglia in testa a un tizio. Gli feci tante domande sulla musica americana. E’ stata una scoperta, un incontro sorprendente. Lou aveva quel senso assoluto della musica che travolge ogni cosa».

“Lucio encouraged me to be a free artist without masks, in order to have no patterns. To dare with songs and with the interpretation. To let your whole soul out. Whatever you have inside. It was his first teaching. Lucio was like that; free and true. He showed me the right path, everyone misses him a lot.”

A life of lucky encounters and opportunities: Lucio Dalla, on tour with him and De Gregori, or on tour with Pino Daniele, Fiorella Mannoia.

“It happened especially at the beginning. I came from Garlasco in the province of Pavia. There were no talent shows like Amici or X Factor. I threw myself into competitions for new voices, tormenting my parents. I was a fan of Gianni Morandi. Then when I started, I realized I had to get serious. That you need to have courage. And so my time has become more interesting and full of wonders.”

Was there anyone more special?

“The tour with David Bowie. We were in the same elevator, in New York. Just the two of us. I was in a cold sweat, speechless in front of my absolute idol. It was beautiful, elegant. Dressed like an English lord. The first thing I thought with a leap of joy? He was shorter than me. I managed to find at least one flaw in him. Luckily the encounter went better with Lou Reed.”

Did you talk to him?

«Perché fuori da qui non riesco a scrivere. La città mi distrae. Ho bisogno di avere intorno i miei posti, i miei colori e la mia famiglia. Sono un campagnolo. Non smetto mai di scrivere. Nella creazione di un pezzo, do priorità all’ingrediente artistico. Butto giù cose, nel mio studio sacro: un ritornello appena accennato, delle note o strofe sparse. Cerco le migliori soluzioni. Non mi annoio. Vivo di musica che mi ha sempre dato lezioni di vita. Non potrei mai abbandonarla, né immaginare un’esistenza senza concerti».

“In 1982 RCA sent me to America for three months to “study”. We had to record an interview. He was late because he had smashed a bottle over some guy’s head the night before. Then he introduced himself, saying ‘I’m sorry’ a thousand times. I was struck by his simplicity and tenderness, behind the expression of challenge perpetually printed on his face. I asked him many questions about American music. It was a discovery, and a surprising encounter. Lou had that absolute sense of music that overwhelms everything.”

You has never moved from Garlasco, where you grew up. Do you always return to your roots so as to not lose inspiration?

“I can’t write anywere else. The city distracts me. I need to have my places, my colors and my family around me. I’m a country boy. I never stop writing. When creating a piece, I give priority to the artistic ingredient. I write things down in my sacred study: a barely mentioned refrain, scattered notes or verses. I look for the best solutions. I do not get bored. I live off music which has always given me life lessons. I could never abandon it, nor imagine an existence without concerts.”

Hai viaggiato in tutto il mondo. Che cosa ti hanno portato questi viaggi?

Grazie al mio lavoro, ho avuto la possibilità di viaggiare estesamente, arricchendomi culturalmente e professionalmente. Il viaggio è fondamentale per un fotografo, permettendo di esplorare influenze stilistiche e culturali diverse.

Siamo passati al digitale da molto tempo. Quali importanti cambiamenti hai notato?

Con l’avvento del digitale, la fotografia ha subito notevoli cambiamenti in termini di immediatezza, costi e tecniche di post-produzione. Tuttavia, l’analogico conserva un fascino e una magia unici.

Dove hai vissuto principalmente?

Nella mia carriera, ho vissuto nelle grandi capitali della moda come New York, Parigi, Milano, Londra e Los Angeles, apprezzando ogni città per le sue peculiarità.

Per una rivista, in genere, un servizio fotografico consiste in 8/10 foto o pagine. Come lo costruisci?

Un servizio fotografico editoriale richiede una pianificazione accurata, tenendo conto delle esigenze e del concept della rivista.

Cosa significa moda per te? Segui qualche stilista?

Chi sono i tuoi stilisti preferiti?

Nel corso degli anni, ho apprezzato vari stilisti per motivi diversi, scegliendo in base al concetto del progetto editoriale e alle esigenze.

EN. You have traveled all over the world. What have these travels brought you?

Thanks to my job, I’ve had the opportunity to travel extensively, enriching myself both culturally and professionally. Travel is fundamental for a photographer, as it allows exploring diverse stylistic and cultural influences.

We have moved to digital a long time ago. What significant changes have you observed?

With the advent of digital technology, photography has undergone significant changes in terms of immediacy, cost, and post-production techniques. However, analog photography retains a unique charm and magic.

Where have you primarily lived?

Throughout my career, I have lived in major fashion capitals such as New York, Paris, Milan, London, and Los Angeles, appreciating each city for its unique characteristics.

For a magazine, a photo shoot generally consists of 8 to 10 photos or pages. How do you construct it?

An editorial photo shoot requires meticulous planning, taking into consideration the magazine’s needs and concept.

Quale consiglio daresti a un giovane che vorrebbe diventare fotografo?

Il mio consiglio principale per chi aspira a questa carriera è di studiare, sperimentare e costruire una propria identità artistica. Storia dell’arte, storia della moda e anche del cinema: è fondamentale cercare di assistere qualche grande fotografo, non limitandosi a vivere in una sola città. Prova varie esperienze e, soprattutto, cerca di sviluppare subito un proprio stile, evitando di seguire o copiare gli altri. Evita compromessi e punta sempre sulla tua visione e idee personali. La moda è un lavoro di squadra; quindi, è essenziale formare un team coeso e allineato con la stessa visione.

What does fashion mean to you? Do you follow any designers? Who are your favorite designers?

Over the years, I have admired various designers for different reasons, making selections based on the concept of the editorial project and its requirements.

What advice would you give to a young person who wants to become a photographer?

My primary advice for those aspiring to this career is to study, experiment, and build their own artistic identity. It’s crucial to have a background in art history, fashion history, and even cinema. Attempting to assist a great photographer, not limiting oneself to a single city, trying

Your projects: what are you working on?

I am currently developing several personal projects: a film and short films aiming to blend the urban environment with art and fashion. These are ambitious projects that I always approach with great enthusiasm.

Il cantiere A.Mostes fonda le proprie radici nel lontano 1913 quando Alessandro Mostes, bisnonno degli attuali proprietari, certo della propria passione e abilità acquisita nella lavorazione del legno, apre a Lezzeno, sul lago di Como, il suo cantiere nautico. Nel cantiere viene da subito disposto uno scivolo di metri 30x10 per costruire con più facilità i famosi comballi per il trasporto di merci e di persone, le gondole lariane (la cui misura varia da 15 ai 18 mt) manufatti interamente a mano, in legno di castagno, per la costruzione dei Dinghi (12 piedi a vela), e per la realizzazione delle ancora più famose “Lucie”, che tanto sono state nominate nei “Promessi Sposi” di Alessandro Manzoni, Il cantiere realizza inoltre il primo traghetto, costruito interamente in legno, motorizzato con un motore Balilla, per il trasporto di automobili, che copre il percorso da Bellagio sul lago di Como a Cadenabbia e ritorno.

Grazie a queste intuizioni e la loro autentica passione per le barche, il cantiere A. Mostes inizia a progettare e a costruire i primi motoscafi in legno di mogano a fondo piatto, utilizzando motori fuoribordo da 15/25 HP. The A.Mostes shipyard dates back to 1913 when Alessandro Mostes, great-grandfather of the current owners, certain of his passion and skill acquired in woodworking, opened his nautical shipyard in Lezzeno, on Lake Como. A 30x10 meter slide was immediately placed on the construction site to more easily build the famous comballi for the transport of goods and people including the entirely handmade in chestnut Larian gondolas (whose sizes vary from 15 to 18 metres), the construction of the Dinghi (12 foot sailboats), and the construction of the even more famous “Lucie”, which were mentioned in Alessandro Manzoni’s “The Betrothed”. The shipyard also built the first ferry, entirely wooden and powered by a Balilla engine for the transport of cars, which covers the route from Bellagio on Lake Como to Cadenabbia and back.

una nuova esperienza circa i nuovi materiali da usare, portando l’azienda all’adeguamento nelle nuove lavorazioni per ottenere un miglioramento tecnologico delle proprie creazioni, oltre che per aumentare la produzione e far fronte alle nuove esigenze di mercato.

Grazie alla passione di Sandro (terza generazione della famiglia) per la velocità e per i motoscafi da corsa, la produzione vira nella direzione sportiva, in considerazione della notevole specializzazione acquisita iniziano in azienda a progettare scafi da competizione a carena V profonda, gli scafi vengono motorizzati con motori di circa 400 HP, che risulteranno essere molto competitivi anche a livello internazionale.

Nello stesso periodo si apre un nuovo capitolo della storia del cantiere A.Mostes con l’ingresso in azienda dei figli di Sandro, Massimo e Stefano (la quarta generazione), con più 100 anni di esperienza artigianale si arriva fino ai giorni nostri con un rinnovo totale del cantiere attraverso la costruzione di nuovi capannoni e la scelta di privilegiare una sempre più specializzata e innovativa produzione di scafi da mt 6,50 a mt 10,10 le cui caratteristiche di velocità, eleganza e cura per il dettaglio sono molto apprezzate dalla loro fidelizzata clientela, avendo acquisito nel corso del tempo una notevole esperienza e capacità di lavorare, tutti questi elementi gli hanno permesso di essere apprezzati non solo a livello nazionale ma anche internazionale.

Thanks to Sandro’s (third generation of the family) passion for speed and racing motorboats, the production veered into sporting, by designing deep V hull racing hulls in the company. È il 2008 e allo Staples Center di Los Angeles c’è grande attesa per l’inizio della premiazione dei Grammy, che quell’anno registrano la loro edizione numero 50. L’esibizione più attesa è senza dubbio quella di Kanye West assieme ai Daft Punk, il duo mascherato e chiacchieratissimo che per la prima volta si mostra agli Oscar della musica. Durante la performance, Kanye emette delle vibrazioni color neon, che seguono il suono e lo rendono ancor più tangibile.

La giacca di Kanye, che desta una grandissima attenzione e ancora oggi viene ricordata come una delle apparizioni più iconiche del rapper, era stata creata per lui da un designer autodidatta di soli 21 anni, di nome Matthew Williams. Del resto, per la vita di questo giovane creativo cresciuto a Pismo Beach negli anni ‘90, la musica aveva sempre avuto un ruolo fondamentale, di comunità e di trasformazione: aveva passato intere notti guidando per le coste della California in cerca di spettacoli hip-hop e ancor prima, appena adolescente, aveva trascorso le sue estati allenandosi con squadre di calcio professionistiche in Europa, dove era venuto in contatto con la musica techno. Sono proprio questi due generi musicali ad aver in qualche modo forgiato l’estetica di Matthew Williams, che si è mossa da sempre sul binario rigoroso dell’industrial fashion, senza però mai perdere di vista l’istinto creativo, che gli ha sempre permesso di “sentire che qualcosa che sto realizzando sia desiderabile, eccitante o stimolante”, come ha lui stesso affermato. “L’idea che le cose siano personali è eccitante. Perché la vita di ognuno è interessante, ognuno ha una storia da raccontare e può essere una costante fonte di ispirazione”.

Mosso da questa necessità, Matthew Williams abbandona dopo un solo semestre l’Università della California. Era più interessato a trascorrere le sue estati a Los Angeles, aiutando un amico di nome Keith A. Richardson a supervisionare i capi del suo brand, Corpus. È stato proprio nell’affascinante subbuglio di questa città che, un anno dopo, incontra casualmente in un ristorante di sushi la regina del pop Lady Gaga, con la quale avrebbe poi fatto una conoscenza più approfondita in alcuni

Kanye’s jacket, which attracts great attention and is still remembered as one of the most iconic appea-

rances of the rapper, was created for him by a self-taught designer of only 21 years, named Matthew Williams. After all, for the life of this young creative who grew up in Pismo Beach in the 90s, music had always played a fundamental role, of community and transformation: he had spent whole nights driving around the coast of California in search of hip-hip shows. Even earlier, as a teenager, he had spent his summers training with professional football teams in Europe, where he discovered techno music.

It is these two musical genres that have somehow forged the aesthetics of Matthew Williams, who has always moved on the strict track of industrial fashion, but never lose sight of the creative instinct, which has always allowed him to “to feel that something I am achieving is desirable, exciting or challenging,” as he himself said. “The idea that things are personal is exciting. Because everyone’s life is interesting,

everyone has a story to tell and can be a constant source of inspiration”.

Motivated by this need, Matthew Williams left the University of California after only one semester. He was more interested in spending his summers in Los Angeles, helping a friend named Keith A. Richardson oversee the clothing of his brand, Corpus. Una volta liberato, il diavolo avrebbe dato una zampata alla roccia su aveva eretto la Rocca, creando così i calanchi: formazioni di argille azzurre con poca vegetazione, che si presentano come solchi profondi sul fianco di una collina o montagna. Dei fenomeni di dissesto idrogeologico, impossibili da risalire a cavallo o a piedi. Lucifero credeva di farle un dispetto, ma furono proprio i calanchi a rendere invincibile la Rocca di Canossa! Il percorso nei luoghi matildici non può che iniziare, dunque, dalla Rocca di Canossa. Fatta costruire dal bisnonno di Matilde, fu lei a decretarne il successo nel 1077 con la famosa “umiliazione di Canossa”: suo cugino Enrico IV, imperatore del Sacro Romano Impero che cercava da tempo di limitare il potere del Papa, dovette recarsi qui per chiedere perdono e ottenere il ritiro della scomunica che lo aveva colpito. Alla Rocca, oggi un incantevole rudere, si accede con una sinuosa scalinata con un bellissimo paesaggio verso valle. In cima, fra le rovine, c’è il Museo Nazionale Naborre Campanili. Poco distante, attraverso un sentiero suggestivo nella Riserva Naturale Orientata della Rupe di Campotrera, si arriva all’imponente Torre di Rossenella, avamposto segnaletico e parte del sistema fortificato matildico della valle dell’Elsa. Su una roccia vulcanica rossastra nella collina di fronte, c’è il Castello di Rossena che al suo interno ha un ostello dove si può dormire. Se si è fortunati (o sfortunati, dipende dai punti di vista) si può incontrare il fantasma di Evelina: una giovane che si sarebbe gettata nel dirupo sottostante per evitare di finire sposata con un uomo che evidentemente non amava.

I visitatori possono imbattersi in storie di fantasmi anche nel Castello di Bianello, nel comune di Quattro Castella, dove fin dagli anni ‘50 si moltiplicano contatti più o meno ravvicinati. Rimaneggiato più volte nei secoli, conserva un dipinto di Matilde con in mano un melograno e nell’altra il bastone, simbolo del potere temporale. È qui che probabilmente soggiornò Enrico IV in attesa che il Papa gli conce-

The journey through Matilda’s places must start from the Rocca di Canossa. Built by Matilda’s great-grandfather, it was she who decreed its success in 1077 with the famous “Walk to Canossa”: her cousin Henry IV, Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire who had long sought to limit the power of the Pope, had to come here to beg for pardon and obtain the withdrawal of the excommunication that had struck him.

The Rocca, now a charming ruin, is accessed via a winding staircase with a beautiful view of the valley. At the top, among the ruins, is the National Museum Naborre Campanili. Nearby, through a suggestive path in the Natural Reserve of the Rupe di Campotrera, you arrive at the imposing Torre di Rossenella, a landmark outpost and part of the Matildic fortified system of the Elsa valley.

On a reddish volcanic rock on the opposite hill, stands the Castello di Rossena, which houses a hostel where you can spend the night. If you are lucky (or unlucky, it depends), you may encounter the ghost of Evelina: a young woman who allegedly threw herself into the ravine below to avoid marrying a man she evidently did not love. Visitors may also come across ghost stories at the Castello di Bianello, at Quattro Castella, where since the 1950s there have been multiple, more or less close encounters. Remodeled several times over the centuries, it houses a painting of Matilda holding a pomegranate in one hand and a scepter in the other, symbolizing temporal power. It is here that Henry IV probably stayed while awaiting the Pope’s forgiveness. It was also here, in 1111, that the newly crowned Emperor Henry V

Da qui si può godere di un paesaggio mozzafiato sulle valli del Secchia e del Tresinaro. Ma di rocche, pievi e chiesette matildiche è disseminato l’intero territorio dell’appennino tosco-emiliano, fino in pianura. Negli ultimi anni della sua vita Matilde si stabilì a Bondeno di Roncore, vicino all’amata San Benedetto Po, provincia di Mantova. A due passi dal Po si può ammirare in tutta la sua imponenza l’abbazia fondata dal nonno di Matilde e il monastero. Importante centro culturale dell’epoca, fu uno dei principali luoghi della diffusione della riforma gregoriana. Quando Matilde morì nel 1115, venne sepolta nella Chiesa di Santa Maria. Ma nel 1632, Papa Urbano VIII acquistò i suoi resti dai monaci, provati dagli stenti della peste, e li portò a Roma. Il mausoleo della Beata Matilde di Canossa, opera di Lorenzo Bernini, conosciuto come “Onore e Gloria d’Italia”, troneggia a fianco della Porta Santa di San Pietro. Perché rievocare l’umiliazione di Canossa ricorda a tutti la vittoria del potere spirituale della Chiesa su quello temporale.

Una delle città più cool e in forte tendenza degli Stati Uniti è Scottsdale, in Arizona. Specie da quando molti sportivi e celeb hanno deciso di lasciare la patinata California per trasferirsi a vivere in uno dei luoghi più rilassanti, meno affollati e con il maggior numero di giornate soleggiate (ben 330) del Paese.

Circondata dal deserto di Sonora, con un’infinita varietà di cactus (tra cui il gigantesco saguaro, che può raggiungere anche i 15 metri d’altezza, e il famoso “cuscino della suocera”), agave, aloe e tante altre specie autoctone e da riserve indiane, Scottsdale si trova a mezz’ora da Phoenix, ma a differenza della capitale dello Stato, è la regina culturale, della movida e del divertimento. Non a caso è stata eletta miglior destinazione dove festeggiare l’addio al nubilato. Ogni weekend, orde di ragazze si danno appuntamento negli hotel, a bordo piscina e nei saloon storici della città per fare festa. Ma non solo: ogni anno a primavera qui si allenano le squadre di baseball nazionali per lo Spring Training che attira milioni di americani che vengono ad assistere agli incontri prima dell’inizio della stagione della Major League.

La Old Town, dove resistono alcuni storici edifici di legno con le insegne in stile western, è il quartiere più caratteristico della città, con locali, ristoranti, negozi di artigianato dei nativi americani, di capi in pelle e boots e di souvenir. È qui che si respira ancora l’atmosfera del vecchio west. Ma è anche il quartiere dove sono sorte gallerie d’arte e atelier di arredamento e di design.

The Leonardo da Vinci international airport is the best in Europe for the seventh consecutive year, retraces its first half century of history.

Per il settimo anno di seguito, l’aeroporto internazionale Leonardo Da Vinci di Fiumicino è stato giudicato il migliore d’Europa, nella categoria degli aeroporti con oltre 40 milioni di passeggeri, affiancato, per la prima volta, dal “Giovan Battista Pastine” di Ciampino, premiato come miglior aeroporto del continente nella categoria da 5 a 15 milioni di passeggeri.

A condurre il sondaggio “Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Award” è stata l’associazione internazionale di categoria degli aeroporti di tutto il mondo, Airport Council International (ACI) World, in collaborazione con Amadeus, azienda leader nel settore delle tecnologie per il settore travel. ACI World ha analizzato le preferenze di circa seicentomila passeggeri in oltre 400 aeroporti in tutto il mondo su oltre 30 indicatori relativi all’esperienza aeroportuale alle partenze e agli arrivi e, oltre al “Best Airport” award, ha premiato l’eccellenza di Roma Fiumicino in tutte le categorie considerate, ovvero: “Airport with the Most Dedicated Staff in Europe” (aeroporto con lo staff migliore d’Europa), “Easiest Airport Journey in Europe” (viaggio più semplice per raggiungere l’aeroporto in Europa), “Most Enjoyable Airport in Europe” (aeroporto più godibile d’Europa) e “Cleanest Airport in Europe” (aeroporto più pulito d’Europa). Ad oggi solo nove scali, nelle rispettive aree geografiche, hanno raggiunto livelli di eccellenza in tutte le sezioni considerate dall’ASQ Award, ma si tratta di scali con traffico inferiore ai 15 milioni di passeggeri/anno. Il Leonardo Da Vinci è l’unico aeroporto con oltre 40 milioni di passeggeri all’anno a livello globale ad aver ottenuto questo risultato. Il premio assegnato al “Leonardo da Vinci” non è l’unico per il sistema aeroportuale romano gestito da ADR. Per la prima volta, come dicevamo, il premio “Best Airport” è stato assegnato anche al “Giovan Battista Pastine” di Ciampino, decretato “miglior aeroporto in Europa tra i 5 ai 15 milioni di passeggeri”. “Quella di oggi è, per ADR, una giornata storica: per la prima volta gli scali di Fiumicino e Ciampino vengono premiati insieme a livello internazionale per la qualità e i servizi offerti ai passeggeri” ha dichiarato Marco Troncone, amministratore delegato di Aeroporti di Roma, proseguendo: “È un risultato straordinario quello del ‘Leonardo da Vinci’ come miglior aeroporto d’Europa e unico grande hub al mondo a vincere in tutte le categorie considerate dall’Airport Service Quality 2023. For the seventh year in a row, the Leonardo Da Vinci international airport Fiumicino was awarded the best in Europe in the category of airports with over 40 million passengers, being joined for the first time, by the “Giovan Battista Pastine” Ciampino which was awarded as the best in the 5 to 15 million passenger category. The “Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Award” survey was conducted by the international trade association of airports around the world, Airport Council International (ACI) World, in collaboration with Amadeus, a leading company in the sector of technologies for the travel industry. ACI World analyzed the preferences of approximately six hundred thousand passengers in over 400

airports around the world on over 30 indicators relating to the airport experience at departures and arrivals and, in addition to the “Best Airport” award, recognized the excellence of Rome Fiumicino in all the categories considered, namely: “Airport with the Most Dedicated Staff in Europe” (airport with the best staff in Europe), “Easiest Airport Journey in Europe” (easiest journey to reach the airport in Europe), “ Most Enjoyable Airport in Europe” and “Cleanest Airport in Europe” (cleanest airport in Europe). To date, only nine airports in their respective geographical areas have achieved levels of excellence in all the sections considered by the ASQ Award, but these are airports with traffic of less than 15 million passengers/year. Leonardo Da Vinci is the only airport with over 40 million passengers per year globally to have achieved this result.

A claim reflecting the airport management company’s attention to people and a new logo which, visually symbolizes the company’s constant commitment to outlining the airport of the future, a place attentive to the well-being of all, and to maintain and raise the levels of excellence of the services offered to passengers, by combining development with sustainability, innovation, quality, art and culture. È infine intervenuto alla cerimonia il Ministro dell’Interno Matteo Piantedosi che, insieme ai vertici ADR, ha svelato, in collegamento in diretta con la giornalista Federica Gentile dalla Piazza del Terminal 1, tre vetrate attribuite a Giotto concesse in prestito dal Fondo Edifici di Culto del Ministero dell’Interno provenienti dalla Basilica di Santa Croce a Firenze che, da oggi, potranno essere ammirate dai passeggeri. Gli interventi degli speaker hanno ripercorso le tappe che hanno caratterizzato i primi cinquant’anni di attività di ADR. Dalla costituzione della società, il 12 febbraio 1974, gli aeroporti della Capitale sono cresciuti al punto che nel corso del 2023 hanno visto transitare 44,4 milioni di passeggeri, con una programmazione che ha coinvolto circa 100 compagnie aeree in volo attraverso 230 rotte in oltre 70 Paesi, collegando così la città di Roma con tutti i continenti, caratterizzandosi per la loro costante e progressiva trasformazione. In particolare, l’infrastruttura del “Leonardo da Vinci” è stata gradualmente integrata per fronteggiare le nuove esigenze legate all’incremento del traffico passeggeri.

Gli anni più recenti sono stati contraddistinti dall’impegno dell’azienda nell’elevare ulteriormente la qualità dei servizi offerti al passeggero, dalla spinta all’innovazione, allo sviluppo sostenibile e alla digitalizzazione. Ne sono esempio alcuni importanti interventi infrastrutturali e inaugurazioni che hanno decretato uno spartiacque tra il passato e il futuro ed hanno contribuito a proiettare il Leonardo da Vinci verso livelli di eccellenza riconosciuti internazionalmente. Tra questi si ricordano: l’apertura, nel 2016, dell’area di imbarco internazionale E, un gioiello architettonico totalmente Made in Italy; l’apertura dell’area di imbarco A, inaugurata alla presenza del Presidente della Repubblica Sergio Mattarella, che rappresenta la prima grande infrastruttura realizzata in Italia dopo la pandemia, con 23 nuovi gate; la nuova galleria commerciale di 6.000 metri quadri e 21 punti vendita, che rappresentano l’eccellenza

The speakers’ presentations retraced the stages that characterized ADR’s first fifty years of activity. Since the company was founded on 12 February 1974, the capital’s airports have grown to the point that during 2023 they saw 44.4 million passengers pass through, with a schedule of around 100 airlines flying across 230 routes in addition to 70 countries, thus connecting the city of Rome with all the continents, characterized by their constant and progressive transformation. In the most recent years the company’s commitment to further raising the quality of services offered to passengers was realized by the push for innovation, sustainable development and digitalisation. Examples of this include some important infrastructural interventions and inaugurations which have created a watershed between the past and the future and have contributed to projecting Leonardo da Vinci towards internationally recognized levels of excellence. Among these are: the 2016 opening of the international boarding area E, an

Motore di questo percorso è la forte spinta di ADR verso la sostenibilità e l’innovazione tecnologica, rappresentata da alcuni importanti avvenimenti come l’apertura dell’Innovation Hub all’interno del Terminal 1, uno spazio unico per un aeroporto che, ad ottobre del 2023, ha festeggiato un anno di attività e nel quale sono già state accolte oltre 50 startup provenienti da tutto il mondo per implementare con Aeroporti di Roma nuove soluzioni negli ambiti di predictive maintenance, airside operations, terminal processes, sostenibilità, customer experience, digitalizzazione dell’offerta commerciale e disruptive solutions. In questo contesto vanno sottolineate anche la costituzione di ADR Ventures, società di Corporate Venture Capital che ha fatto i suoi primi investimenti in Ottonomy e Assaia; la nascita di UrbanV, con l’avvio dei primi collegamenti dei velivoli elettrici a decollo verticale tra l’aeroporto e Roma previsti in occasione del Giubileo e che proietta l’aeroporto romano nel futuro della mobilità aerea urbana. Va inoltre ricordato come nel 2023 per gli scali di Fiumicino e Ciampino sia stata riconfermata la certificazione Airport Carbon Accreditation 4+ “Transition” di ACI Europe sulla riduzione delle emissioni dirette e indirette di CO2, oltre all’impegno dell’azienda nel ridurre progressivamente l’impronta ambientale dei propri aeroporti con il target del Net Zero Emission nel 2030, con venti anni di anticipo rispetto a quanto prefissato a livello di settore aeroportuale europeo. The driving force behind this path is ADR’s strong push towards sustainability and technological innovation, represented by some important events such as the opening of the Innovation Hub inside Terminal 1, a unique space for an airport celebrated one year of activity in October 2023, and in which over 50 startups from all over the world have already been welcomed to implement new solutions with Aeroporti di Roma in the areas of predictive maintenance, airside operations, terminal processes, sustainability, customer experience, digitalisation of commercial offer and disruptive solutions. In this context, the establishment of ADR Ventures, a Corporate Venture Capital company which made its first investments in Ottonomy and Assaia, should also be highlighted; the birth of UrbanV, with the launch of the first connections of electric vertical take-off aircraft between the airport and Rome scheduled for the Jubilee and which propels the Roman airport into the future of urban air mobility. It should also be mentioned that in 2023 the Airport Carbon Accreditation 4+ “Transition” certification by ACI Eu was reconfirmed for the Fiumicino and Ciampino airports on the reduction of direct and indirect CO2 emissions, in addition to the company’s commitment to progressively reduce the environmental footprint of its airports with the target of Net Zero Emission in 2030, twenty years ahead of

questo percorso l’arte e la cultura sono stati gli altri grandi interpreti: oggi il Leonardo da Vinci si posiziona come un “Museo diffuso”, valorizzando l’immenso patrimonio culturale e artistico italiano in tutte le sue declinazioni. Si orientano esattamente in questa direzione le nuove opere d’arte presentate nel corso della cerimonia odierna: le tre vetrate istoriate attribuite a Giotto che, esposte oggi per la prima volta al pubblico, raffigurano rispettivamente il profeta Aronne, sacerdote per eccellenza del Vecchio Testamento, e due diaconi. Queste vetrate, di proprietà del Fondo Edifici di Culto del Ministero dell’Interno - Ente che assicura la tutela, la valorizzazione, la conservazione e il restauro del nostro prezioso patrimonio artistico - costituivano la parte alta di una vetrata databile intorno al 1310 posizionata in origine al termine della navata destra della Basilica di Santa Croce a Firenze. Grazie alla nuova collocazione nella cornice della nuova Pazza del Terminal 1 potranno essere ammirate nei prossimi mesi da milioni di passeggeri in partenza e in arrivo per destinazioni nazionali, europee e intercontinentali.

Un altro momento particolarmente emozionante è stata la performance dell’Associazione Teatro Patologico Onlus, compagnia teatrale che da oltre trent’anni coinvolge sul palcoscenico attori e attrici con disabilità psichiche, tornati ad esibirsi in aeroporto a distanza di qualche mese con “Commedia Divina”. Ispirata alla Divina Commedia di Dante Alighieri, si tratta di un’opera di Dario D’Ambrosi, direttore e fondatore artistico del Teatro Patologico, che nasce dall’idea di avvicinarsi all’esperienza interiore del sommo Poeta per cogliere, al di là del “velo” delle parole, il suo messaggio più intimo e spirituale. Located in the Trastevere district and absolutely worth visiting, Freni e Frizioni is a “street cocktail bar” born in 2005 in place of a mechanical workshop with the intention of bringing the aperitivo ritual to the capital which is more traditionally consumed in the regions of northern Italy. The aperitivo is available every day from 6.30pm to 9.30pm. During its over 18 years of activity, thanks to continuous research and studies of new products and new techniques, it has developed an increasingly rich variety in terms of drinks, but also of “ready to drink” cocktails, bitters, liqueurs and cocktails on tap. Credereste di potervi immergere nelle atmosfere della campagna romana, quella attuale ma soprattutto quella storica e archeologica, ad appena un chilometro dal centro di Roma e dal Colosseo? Ebbene, è quello che potete fare inoltrandovi, a piedi, in bicicletta o perfino a cavallo, nel Parco Regionale dell’Appia Antica, che, con i suoi 4.580 ettari, è l’area protetta urbana più vasta dell’intera Europa. Da Roma, si estende senza soluzione di continuità verso i Castelli Romani. Al suo centro, troverete appunto l’Appia Antica, la strada che i Romani definivano “Regina Viarum”, cioè “regina delle strade”: oltre sedici chilometri sempre percorribili, lungo i quali sarà come procedere attraverso uno spettacolare museo all’aperto, tra resti archeologici di ville imperiali e antichi acquedotti, ovviamente immersi nella natura, e senza dimenticare le tenute agricole storiche che ancora si trovano lungo il percorso. Mai come in questo periodo, quando la primavera mostra tutte le sue meravigliose fioriture e il caldo afoso non ha ancora afferrato nella sua morsa la Capitale, è il momento di avviarsi per questa formidabile avventura.

UN MUSEO A CIELO APERTO

Il Parco Regionale dell’Appia Antica è un luogo unico al mondo, dove la storia si fonde con la natura e la biodiversità vive a stretto contatto con i resti di un antico passato, tanto da poter essere definito un vero e proprio museo a cielo aperto. Questo cuneo verde comprende ben 4.580 ettari, anche a seguito dell’ultimo ampliamento dell’ottobre 2018, ed è così vasto da interessare non soltanto il comune di Roma, ma anche quelli di Ciampino e Marino. Le aree d’interesse sono tante: a partire dalla Via Appia Antica e dalle sue adiacenze, si possono visitare la Valle della Caffarella, l’area archeologica della Via Latina e degli Acquedotti, la Tenuta di Tormarancia, la Tenuta Farnesiana e poi le aree del Divino Amore, Falcognana e Mugilla. Da non perdere, sicuramente, la famosa Villa dei Quintili, ma anche le Catacombe di San Callisto, tra le più grandi di tutta Roma.

MOVIMENTO LENTO

Il Parco è sempre aperto e non c’è alcun costo d’ingresso. Ci si può arrivare facilmente sia con i mezzi pubblici (bus e metro) che con i mezzi privati, ma, una volta raggiunta l’area d’interesse che volete visitare (si può infatti entrare da diversi punti, essendo così vasto), è d’obbligo muoversi a piedi o in bicicletta al fine di rispettare l’area protetta. Well, that’s what you can do, on foot, by bicycle or even on horseback, at the Appia Antica Regional Park, which, with its 4,580 hectares, is the largest urban protected area in the whole of Europe. It extends seamlessly from Rome towards the Castelli Romani. At its centre, you will find the Appia Antica, the road the Romans called “Regina Viarum”, that is “queen of

AN OPEN-AIR MUSEUM

The Appia Antica Regional Park is a unique place in the world where history blends with nature and biodiversity lives in close contact with the remains of an ancient past. So much so that it can be defined as a true open-air museum . This green wedge includes 4,580 hectares, including the latest expansion in October 2018, and is so vast that it affects not only the municipality of Rome, but also those

of Ciampino and Marino. There are many areas of interest: starting from the Via Appia Antica and its surroundings, you can visit the Valle della Caffarella, the archaeological area of the Via Latina and the Aqueducts, the Tenuta di Tormarancio, the Tenuta Farnesiana and the areas of Divine Love, Falcognana and Mugilla. SLOW MOVEMENT

The Park is always open and there is no entrance fee. You can get there easily both by public transport (bus and metro) and by private transport, but once you reach the area of interest you want to visit (you can in fact enter from different points, being so vast), it is mandatory to move on foot or by bicycle in order to respect the protected area. Bicycles can be rented directly in the Park, as there are several rental

È possibile visitare e scoprire anche gli angoli più segreti del Parco in maniera autonoma oppure richiedendo una visita guidata, ma anche partecipando al ricco programma di eventi organizzati direttamente dal Parco. Ogni primavera e autunno, infatti, il Parco organizza, in collaborazione con associazioni e altre realtà che da sempre lavorano per la difesa e la valorizzazione del territorio, un programma di visite guidate ed eventi, disponibile on-line e presso la rete di accoglienza (v. box). Inoltre, si può anche richiedere una visita guidata privata, per singoli o per gruppi, e anche in inglese. Le visite possono essere effettuate a piedi, in bicicletta o con minicar elettrica. Alla visita si possono inoltre aggiungere anche attività specifiche su misura.

It is located a few steps from the historic monument of the Tomb of Cecilia Metella and the most important catacombs, and organizes horseback riding on the Regina Viarum, for both beginners and experts, with an equestrian guide and customized routes upon request.

ALONE OR WITH A GUIDE

You can visit and explore even the most secretive corners of the Park, both independently or by guided tour, or also by taking part in the rich program of events organized directly by the Park. In fact, every Spring and Autumn the Park organizes, in collaboration with associations and other entities that have always worked for the defense and valorization of the territory, a program of guided tours and events available both online and at the reception (see box).

Furthermore, you can also request a private guided tour, for individuals or groups, also in English. Visits can be made on foot, by bicycle or by electric minicar. Specific tailor-made activities can also be added to the visit.

On the official website of the Appia Antica Park, at www.parcoappiaantica.it, you will find the detailed program this spring for the openings of the archaeological sites (normally not accessible) within the public and private properties of the Park, with visits and exclusive guided tours. Visits must be booked at eventbrite. parcoappiaantica.it, and participation requires signing up for the Friends of the Park Membership Card which costs 5 euros for adults, is free up to 14 years of age and lasts for one year. It comes with a free guide and park map, and the first archaeological visit which is included in the price. In addition to allowing guided tours, the Card includes free or discounted entrance to numerous events and activities promoted by the Park, including the Spring and Autumn programs.

LA “REGINA VIARUM”

La Via Appia, denominata dal poeta latino Publio Papinio Stazio “Regina Viarum”, è una delle strade più antiche e importanti di Roma. Costruita nel 312 a.C., inizialmente per collegare Roma a Capua, fu una delle prime grandi strade romane a non prendere il nome dalla funzione che aveva (come per esempio la Salaria, la “via del sale”) o dal luogo in cui arrivava, bensì dal magistrato che ne aveva supervisionato la costruzione, in questo caso il censore Appio Claudio Cieco. Più avanti, la via proseguì fino al porto di Brindisi, per avere un collegamento diretto con la Grecia, l’Egitto e l’Oriente e garantire viaggi, commerci e spostamenti militari fondamentali. Non è un caso che fosse considerata la “regina delle strade”!

THE “VIARUM QUEEN”

The Appian Way, called “Regina Viarum” by the Latin poet Publius Papinius Statius, is one of the oldest and most important streets in Rome. Built in 312 BC, initially to connect Rome to Capua, it was one of first major Roman roads not to take its name from the function it had (such as the Salaria, the “salt road”) or from the place where it arrived, but instead from the magistrate who had it supervised the construction, and in this case the censor Appio Claudio Cieco. Further on, the route continued to the port of Brindisi to have a direct connection with Greece, Egypt and the East and guaranteed essential travel, trade and military movements. It is no coincidence that she was considered the “queen of the streets”!
