Welcome to the 2023 Bay Building Industries Association (BBIA) Great American Parade of Homes. This is our 44th year to bring this premier event to Bay County.
The Parade is exclusive to BBIA builder members. This year, we have 14 homes by 11 professional builders and 1 luxury pool & spa entry. Starting off the parade route again this year will be the BBIA Showcase Scholarship Home. All the homes in the Parade offer the newest and most innovative products in energy efficiencies and technologies, showcasing unique and cutting edge features now trending in the construction industry.
The Great American Parade of Homes serves as the leading resource for consumers shopping for a new home and/or ideas for renovation of an existing home. The Parade provides reliable sources when looking for a builder or associate. When touring the homes in the Parade, patrons have the opportunity to visit with professional builders and industry associates that are experienced representatives of the building industry.
We are proud to announce Entry # 1 on the Parade route is the BBIA Showcase Scholarship Home located at 1825 White Western Lake Lane in Pinebrook Subdivision in Southport, FL. The home is a consummation of the experienced BBIA Builders and Associates. Their state-of-the-art innovative ideas and dedication have made this home possible and because of the generosity of our talented membership providing skilled labor, discounted materials, and donations, we are able, from the sale of the Scholarship Home, to award scholarships to students pursuing a career in the construction industry field. Since our inception of the scholarship home we have been able to provide $147,900 in scholarships to 170 students. Additionally, BBIA has an endowed scholarship at Gulf Coast State College and has awarded many scholarships to students throughout the years.

Welcome to the 44th Annual Great American Parade of Homes which runs June 9th, 10th, 11th.
I would like to thank all the sponsors, participants, donors, and the BBIA members who have dedicated their time to make the Parade of Homes possible. Every year the builder members of the BBIA put their homes on display for your viewing pleasure. This year’s Parade will include 14 unique and innovative homes, built by 11 different builders for you to tour and admire. We also have a beautiful pool & spa entry! These homes will demonstrate the professional quality representation of your BBIA Builders. There will be homes on display that will appeal to the first-time homebuyer, someone looking for a luxury upgrade and everything in between.
We have 2 special homes on the Parade this year. The first home is the BBIA Scholarship Home being built at 1825 White Western Lake Lane in the Pinebrook Subdivision in Southport, FL. This home is being built by BBIA members, their co-workers, vendors and suppliers. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this home will be used to fund our scholarship program. We are excited to announce that over the last 8 years we have awarded over 170 scholarships to local students who are enrolling in programs associated with the construction industry. Proceeds are also used to help the Construction Academy programs at Rutherford and Arnold High Schools. Please take time to tour this home. It will be the first stop on the Parade and will showcase many unique features usually not seen in homes in its price range.
The second home is the Habitat for Humanity of Bay County Fundraiser Home. This home is being built at 1129 So. Comet Ave in Callaway Fl. Many of our BBIA members have contributed to the construction of this home as well. The proceeds from the sales of this home will help fund up to 2 future Habitat homes. BBIA is proud to work with Habitat for Humanity as they strive to provide affordable housing in Bay County.
I am proud to serve on the BBIA Executive Committee and the Board of Directors, the FHBA (Florida Home Builders Association) State Builder Director, your 2023 Parade of Homes Chairman and 2021 Scholarship Home Builder.

Curt Hartog 2023 Parade of Homes ChairmanThe past year at the Bay Building Industries Association (BBIA) has been quite eventful! I am absolutely thrilled we are once again hosting the Great American Parade of Homes for our amazing community and we look forward to seeing you all! Moving the dates off of Mother’s Day allows our builders and associates to spend Mother’s Day with their families, helps them have a little more time into the year to prepare, and gives others who may travel into our area an opportunity to explore these beautiful homes as well as a first ever luxury pool and spa entry!
We are excited to be building another gorgeous Scholarship Home this year under the direction of Intellichoice Builders. We have recently awarded 34 new students with scholarships for the 2023/2024 school year in addition to our endowed scholarship at Gulf Coast State College! This is one of the most rewarding programs we are able to do with our members and friends. Almost all of the scholarship recipients are pursuing their careers in the trades and we could not be prouder of the hard work they are putting in to make this happen. We are grateful to all of our donors who donate to this program year after year. Without them, this would not be possible!
Stacy Watson Executive OfficerOur Education & Workforce Taskforce has been busy working with our Construction Academies at Arnold & Rutherford High Schools building two 1BR/1BA, 600SqFt small homes. Teaching the students how to build a home from the ground up has been an inspiring program and an experience they will never forget! We continue to partner with the Boys & Girls Club of Bay County and will be building a shed with them soon for a hands-on introduction into building. The Woman in Construction committee is joining forces with Girls Inc to expand our student mentorship. Our members are donating their time, TALENT, and materials to make this possible. We are extremely grateful to them for taking the time to teach our youth!
Our Great American Home & Garden Expo in March was a wonderful chance for our members to get to visit with you. We host many events during the year that you are welcome to participate in, including our Fishing Charter, Golf Tournament and Clay Shoot to name a few! Bringing awareness to what the BBIA does in the community is so important to us and we love spending time with you.
The BBIA turns 50 this year! We are proud to have a strong, united association that has spent 50 years advocating for our industry and for our community. Our membership has grown significantly, which means you have a larger voice of hardworking, licensed professionals you can count on. We have also updated our BBIA mission statement to reflect what is most important to us:

Intellichoice Builders was honored to be selected as the builder of the 2023 BBIA Scholarship Home for the Parade of Homes. This honor was immediately preceded by the Better Business Bureau awarding us the 2022 Torch Award for Ethics and the Owner, Robert Yanchis, earning his certification as a State of Florida Master Builder. We have been members of the BBIA since before our inception mainly due to the focus on education for the future of our industry at all levels including the Boys and Girls Club, local high schools and the local trade school/university. It’s also a great group of like-minded, professionally focused individuals to network with.
Robert and Juan (JC) Gonzalez started the business in 2017 after working together for several years prior and just celebrated their 5-year anniversary. Intellichoice is a Florida State Certified General Contractor (CGC1526169). We provide all types of custom construction services (new, remodels, additions) for both residential and commercial. Our specialty is water intrusion and builder defect repairs. Our company has grown and changed over the years to meet the demands and the ever-changing local community growth. It is the care and pride that our team puts into everything they do that makes us so successful.
This part of Florida is known for the “emerald” beaches but the real gem for this area are the people that work and live here. Habitat for Humanity of Bay County is addressing the biggest need in Bay County, which is affordable housing! Thanks to our giving community this fundraiser home will allow us to start our 106th home. Habitat needs to pull together all sorts of resources to build a home and make homeownership a reality for those that never thought they could own a home. Small Home Project 2023
Students at JR Arnold High School and Rutherford High School Construction Academy’s are in the finishing stages in completing our Small Home Project on each of the respective school campuses. This project involved over 60 students physically working on these homes, nailing the foundation structure, installing electrical wiring and my favorite, cleaning the jobsite. These activities have provided life skills they have never had the chance to learn all while earning class credits for their graduation.
Our goal in the BBIA is to support the Construction Academy by providing hands on, real life knowledge of how things work in the Construction Industry. The Small Home project has taken these students through the entire home build process, from design to the finishing of a home that someone will eventually live in.
