welcome Stacey Noble Global Entertainment Production Welcome to the next edition of the Global Entertainment Production Digital newsletter. With the difficult challenges from COVID continuing around the world, this newsletter highlights all the amazing unique digital content that has been happening across our territories during and after lockdown.

Thank you very much to all the digital teams who have been vital in providing these creative ideas for us to share at the beginning of this newsletter and to Tom Hoffman and Sandy Reyes in the DBE team who have provided the Platform Update.

We also have exciting news of an upcoming event. GEP & DBE will be hosting a Remote Casting Workshop to be held in November. More news on this event at the end of newsletter.

Stay safe all, I’m still at my kitchen table and will definitely need new dining chairs, but hopefully 2021 will bring us back to our offices in some way.

GOT TALENT

In the UK, BGT kicked off a campaign to get the public designing their own BGT buzzers. This could be done via Insta stories or by downloading and printing off the colouring-in template.

The aim was to encourage young and old alike to get creative and get involved with the BGT brand while the whole country was staying at home.

In the USA, with less in-person access to the acts and less mobility on set, the digital team had to come up with creative solutions. The digital and social team tapped into the equipment production sent to the acts to create unique content which was uploaded to the AGT YouTube page. These included reactions to their performances on the show, judges reactions and discussing their time on the shows and the difference that it had made to their lives:

GOT TALENT In Italy, the digital team created a unique promo for series 11 of IGT for their social media platforms. The promos were used to announce the judges creating a mock WhatApp’s Group for Instagram CLICK TO VIEW

They also created an Instagram story using the judges faces on masterpieces to highlight that they were in the search for art and talent!

In France , La France a un Incroyable Talent launched the LFAUIT challenge on both TikTok and Instagram. They created the LFauit Cover Song (which was made with both judges and contestants): CLICK TO VIEW The team also created a clip on Instagram which featured the Top 25 most memorable moments from the last series: CLICK TO VIEW

BATTLE OF THE JUDGES Talent La Bataille Du Jury. France launched Battle of the Judges on 23rd June. The team created some fantastic content to keep viewers interested before the show launched. These included

A highlight of the stories are available below: CLICK TO VIEW Continuing with France, the team created unique backstage content for Instagram of the contestants having a debrief after their performance and to discuss the judges comments.

In Portugal the team also lunched A Batalha does Jurados in the Spring. The digital team created playlist for the shows dedicated YouTube Channel so that you could review the performances from any of the Gala’s as well as the final:

IDOLS American Idol launched its Idol Across America live virtual tours. Using an online registration form and unique Zoom tools, the team replicated the in-person audition experience online with over 20 audition days allowing for hopefuls to represent their state! Former Idols even stopped by the auditions to encourage singers! Digital and social content from Ryan and judges were used to drive awareness to the virtual auditions: CLICK TO VIEW

Idols in Czech/Slovak have been very creative with their social media creating exclusive content including: • The backstage view, which hasn’t been seen within the show • Posting Q and A – short interviews with contestants and judges • Quizzes, vote and “Did you know?” format in stories, where they informed the fans with facts about the show.

• Superstar Xtra - a backstage programme shown exclusively on the broadcaster websites – including a gogglebox style segment of celebrities commenting on what they had been watching

MASKED SINGER

The Finnish team created fun Instagram filters, when you opened the link the ‘Mask’ moves with you. Below is a link that viewers uploaded to show their faces with the ‘Masks’: CLICK TO VIEW

In Spain the team used Instagram to play a game called “Who Am I” The aim of the game is to find out the ‘Mask’ behind the screen CLICK TO VIEW

Continuing in Spain, the team used the shows social media accounts to keep audience keen before the show launched. On Instagram they created a promo using material from the programme to show how they have managed to keep the celebrities details secret … = CLICK TO VIEW

GAMESHOWS Family Feud has had a revival during these COVID times, with the UK being one of the many countries to bring the show back after 6 years! The UK digital team used their host (Gina D’Campo) to record a call to action plus they also used the social media accounts to highlight the best bits of the series so far. Such as “What would you do on a first date?”

And “She Said What?”

In the US, Family Feud launched a TikTok handle. Using show sound clips from gameshows, which is not only fun content, but it offers opportunities for users to make their own content with that sound. Fun, light interactions are what resonated the best.

The team also created stories on Instagram which encouraged the viewers to watch the show. They asked a question “Name someone who might tell you to put your hands in the air?”

GAMESHOWS For the second series of Supermarket Sweep in the UK, the team uploaded content onto the shows official FB, Instagram and YouTube accounts. Before the show launched the digital team created an access all areas video to have a look at the nations favourite supermarket.

Supermarket Sweep was also relaunched in the USA in 2020, after many years away. The Supermarket Sweep production team produced a time-lapse video of their set build. It was revealed on social media to support the new US version on ABC. A timelapse like this delights the audience, exposes the production’s process and shows off the massive new set.

Card-turner Jerry Wolf picked up the phone and captured content for the shows social media accounts CLICK TO VIEW The team also used Instagram to give fun set images / photos that you could save to your computer or phone and set as the background for your next video call

YouTube Shorts is a new video experience that lets users create short videos right from the YouTube mobile app (Think TikTok). Users can create 15 second videos that are easily discoverable on the YouTube homepage (in the new Shorts shelf), as well as across other parts of the app. This feature rolled out in India first, and it will expand to more countries in the coming months.

Paid Online Events for Creators & Businesses This feature allows Page owners to create online events that users can pay to attend. Creators can promote the event, collect payments, and host the event itself through live video all on the platform.

They’re also currently testing paid events with Messenger Rooms for an added layer of interaction.

Instagram/ Facebook Shop — Shops enable you to create a unique shopping experience on Facebook and Instagram and are free to use.

When you create a shop, your customers can browse, explore and purchase your products directly from this virtual storefront on your Facebook business Page or Instagram business account. As a seller, you can easily customize your shop to reflect your brand and update your product catalog based on inventory. You can also manage all aspects of your shop across both Facebook and Instagram. Only works with O&O shops or Shopify.

New on TikTok: Introducing Stitch Stitch allows users the ability to clip and integrate scenes from another user's video into their own. Like Duet, Stitch is a way to reinterpret and add to another user's content, building on their stories, tutorials, recipes, math lessons, and more.

Before you Tweet, you can now choose who can reply with three options: 1) everyone (standard Twitter, and the default setting), 2) only people you follow, or 3) only people you mention. Tweets with the latter two settings will be labeled and the reply icon will be grayed out for people who can’t reply. People who can’t reply will still be able to view, Retweet, Retweet with Comment, share, and like these Tweets.

QR codes can now be featured on your site, in a chat, on product packaging, or instore. When users scan these QR codes, they’ll be able to immediately initiate a chat in WhatsApp with you.
