Support to Environment

In celebration of the International Coastal Clean Up day and in support of the call of the Provincial Government of Ilocos Sur to clean shoreline areas, the Rotary Club of Narvacan participated in the simultaneous coastal clean up activities last September 18, 2022, in the different coastal areas of Ilocos Sur. Through this activity, the club was able to promote the engagement of people in the community to remove trash and debris from beaches, waterways, and other water bodies, identify the sources of the litter, change behaviors that cause pollution, and raise awareness of the extent of the marine debrisproblem.

In line with the Support to Environment area of focus of Rotary, the Rotary Club of Narvacan in partnership with the Southern Ilocos Sur Medical Society and the Philippine Army conducted a Tree Planting activity dubbed "TREES for the FUTURE Project" last Sempteb 24, 2022 in Brgy. Sulvec Narvacan, Ilocos Sur. The tree planting activity aims to raise awareness in the community about the importance of planting and saving trees, express concern for the environment, and diminish the unfavorable effects of climate change. This also helps build a strong relationship and camaraderie with each other by helping hand in hand in preserving the ecology.

To gain additional knowledge on how to improve the positive public image and brand of Rotary, members of RC Narvacan attended the Public Image Seminar 2022 of District 3790 last September 17, 2022, held at Pangasinan Development and Training Center, Lingayen Pangasinan in a superhero themed gathering

This activity taught the participants to share their Rotary stories in whatever medium to motivate others to participate in the Rotary service.

Insights were also given on how to promote the service activities of Rotary Clubs through the use of social media.

The public image seminar supports Rotary's strategic goal of enhancing the public's image of Rotary and its awareness of our service and activities. The seminar was hosted by the Rotary Club of Dagupan.

Zumba is one of the most popular exercise crazesthathasfoundawaytoengagemany people worldwide and get them moving for better health and vitality. It has many benefits such as; the ability to burn calories, work out the entire body, boost mood, aid coordination, and improve confidence and social skill. Zumba dance exercise allows people of all ages, abilities, and goals to participate and improve their overall health.

Aware of these health benefits, the Rotary Club of Narvacan in partnership with the Southern Medical Society spearheaded the ZUMBA Fitness activity last September 24, 2022, at Sulvec Narvacan, Ilocos Sur. This endeavoraimstointroduceZumbadanceto the community and incorporate all levels of physical fitness to improve all participants' qualityoflife.

The Rotary Club of Narvacan in partnership with its brother club Rotary Club of Makati, Universal Leaf Phils , Inc , and the Southern Ilocos Sur Medical Society launched the Child Nutrition Program which is 120 day feeding activity for the undernourished children of Narvacan, Ilocos Sur The launching was held last September 21, 2022, at the People Court Narvacan, Ilocos Sur

The Child Nutrition Program is a pet project of Pres. Micahel Escaler of the Rotary Club of Makati. It is sponsored by Universal Leaf Philippines Inc , headed by its President Rtn Winston Uy Narvacan was chosen as amongst the beneficiary of this project through the initiative of the Rotary Club of Narvacan headed by Pres Carlos Valera, together with the Southern Ilocos Sur Medical Society through the leadership of Dr. Eileen Opena Pascua. The beneficiaries were identified by the LGU Narvacan headed by its Mayor Pablito Sanidad Sr , through the Municipal Rural Health Unit, DSWD, and Barangay Nutrition Scholars

Through this program, augmentation support will be given to a total of 159 children tobacco farmer residents from 19 barangays of Narvacan, Ilocos Sur. It also includes the provision of milk, and vitamin supplements along with meals computed accordingly to the calorie intake per child per day for a total of 120 days. The children beneficiaries initially underwent blood tests, X rays, and weighing prior to the launching date

This program aims to improve the knowledge, attitude, and practices of children, parents, and caregivers through intensified nutrition and health education

Fellowship in Rotary is an opportunity to connect with members outside the club and district. Rotarians meet people within the Rotary network with whom they already have something in common, making it easier to make new friends in the community. Fellowships serve as an incentive for attracting new members to Rotary and retaining our existing members.
