In the Rotary Club of Narvacan, while we are deprived of numbers, we are not deprived of strength. We continue with themanyprojectsalongthesevenareasoffocus

We will do more as we go a long long way to change lives It is a challenge not only to the old members but to the new ones who had been inducted entry into a group of distinguishedmenandwomeninserviceofothers.

When I was called upon to serve as President of the RotaryClub of Narvacan, Ilocos Sur, I never hesitated to accept the challenge. While cognizant of the limitations I had, the club members decided to see what I can do, instead of what I cannot. It only means that the club members had the same mindset as mine, and when such a mindset works in synchronywith the mind, there can be no stone unturned. ACCEPTING THE CHALLENGE TO LEAD WAS EASY The CHALLENGE WAS RATHERDIFFICULT.

Iwanttothankeachoneofyouforgivingmethisopportunity.

This is so because it is how we see things that determine how well we do things. You can call it a triumph of the human spirit. I would agree But triumphs such as this one, begin with fertile grounds. The focus was made by me to the service through Rotary My active role in the Rotary Club of Narvacan as an active member and officer showed how well my life has changed. While I was crippled, it did not stop me from serving in every little way, from planting trees, watering, from distributing goods to reaching out to others in the name of friendship and camaraderie I was a team player, believing that the strongest man is not he who stands most alone, but he whoreachesouttoothersinthespiritofamityandgoodwill

I have found that the President is always fully supported by the team and always volunteers for things, “upward” praise is given, and everyone is pulling in the same direction. It is just so darned satisfying, and it makes the effort very worthwhile I will really miss it, although I am looking forward to going back and supporting the causes of the team! I am looking forward to handing on the baton to my longtime friend……SBM CaloyValera and to be there for him, as a true Rotarian ready to serve Some of you thought of my countdown as “I can ’t wait to get it over with” . I considered it as my goal, my finish line, and the point at which I must hand on the baton to new leadership.

Ourthemelastyearwas “ServetoChangeLives” . PRI President Shekhar Mehta has urged members to become more involved in service projects, saying that caring for and serving others is the best way to live because it changes not only other people’ s lives but also our own There will be no excuses. There are only a few of us in the club, but there were many that we did Despite my disabilities, I had been awarded an outstanding Rotarian for the past Rotary Year. It does not bring me a bragging point, but an inspiration not only for myselftodomorebutforotherswhohavefulluseoftheirlives andlimbs. And for the first time in our Club History, we were able to receive a total of 19 plaques of recognition from the district, placingourclubintheSilverAwardCategory.Thishaschanged my life I am sure it changed yours These great services to our local community should make each one of us proud Rotarians, because we Served and Changed lives. All these greataccomplishments can ’t be the work of one, it’ s all of us All of thishappenedbecauseofyou, themembersoftheRotaryClub of Narvacan You regularly step forward and volunteer to do so much and contribute in so many ways. Thank you for demonstrating what it means to put Service Above Self, to Serve others, and Change lives. I have so many people to thank, allthecommitteechairs, ourRotarypartnersthatputup with me all year long, and all of you Rotarians that did the work. DearRotarians, year 2021222 have changed my life, and I am forever grateful to you and to Rotary for giving me this opportunity. Thankyou

District Governor Ann Lorenzana, Assistant Governor Camilo Kagaoan Jr fellow club officers and members of the different Rotary Clubs, guests, friends, ladies and gentlemen, goodafternoon.

THE VALEDICTORY IPPGILBERTCADACIO President RY 2021-2022

Years ago, I had a great battle. I survived, yet like any survivor, the battle left me with a permanent disability I was crippled, and my movements got limited. My physical appearance changed, andmyspiritbegantoquestionmyveryownabilities I have lost the full potential use of one hand, but not the other. I have become slow in my movements, but I am still movingThere had been many losses, but somehow, they did not stop me.

Many of you have commented that my year as President has gone very fast. And yes, it has, it’ s been a lot of fun and has been very rewarding and without wanting to sound too warm and fuzzy, it has been a very affirming experience. It’ s been a yearpastbutIcanstillvividlyrecallthewordsIsharedwithyou so please let me refresh you with some of the lines that inspiredmetodomybestduringmystintasyourpresident.

THEY DID NOT STOP ME, because I saw things from a different perspective Life is kaleidoscopic, and while others see the other way, I saw the opportunities, and those hopportunities lelpmerealizethefulluseoftheotherhand;thefulluseofthe imitedmovementsIhave;andmyunstoppablespirit.

First, I would like to thank you my fellow Rotarians for selecting me to lead our club as President for the next Rotary year. As I stand here before you tonight, I am indeed honored to be given the opportunity to serve in this capacity. And you have my sincere assurance that I will be dedicated and committed to the cause of Rotary in this role, the same way I have demonstrated my commitment over the past few years since I was first inducted as a member of the club. I accept the trust you have placed in me and pledge that with the strong, experienced, and competent team that we have, we will steward the club’ s resources well represent the Rotary mission and values, and the 4way test to the best of our abilities, and make this the service club that people want to get into! To sustain such momentum, we need all the love, we must achieve greater ends. Love cannot be any better than the Rotary way. And, in rotary, we build not only bridges but ladders to rise above all harsh realities of life that affects us all. This, I will say of the members of the Rotary Club of Narvacan, they all love serving above themselves, I am a living witness that they have ushered to the service of leading them, now that we begin to work together, we bring to fore that value of love that put things in its proper perspective.

Rotarians, honored guests, family, friends –

We intend to achieve these targets within the Rotary Year. We will have one major donor, three more multiple Paul Harris Fellows, and five new ones We will increase in membership under the standard of quality over quantity. We shall be represented in all District activities. We will regain our post as having the greatest number of delegates to the RYLA. We continue to serve the community in every way. Livelihood projects, education and literacy, peace and security, maternal and childcare, water and sanitation, environmental care and protection, and other activities will uplift the social condition of the people. More is expected of us as we go through a transition in these certain times. Like in love, I do not lose sight of the fact that with our able hands, our pooled resources, and our continuous spirit, we will achieve our ends. In my novitiate as a Rotarian, there is one thing I observed in the way we served. Everything is done with love, and no matter how small a deed is, it is done with love, it is great!

The club may be deprived in numbers, but we are not deprived in strength. We draw inspiration from my predecessor IPP Gilbert Cadacio in his “ I may be crippled but not limping stance” that brought the club to a higher level in the district. We will try to approximate or equal or even do more in our term with the help of the team.

THE INAUGURAL PRES.CARLOSVALERA

I hope that everyone enjoyed a wonderful night of fellowship, as we mark the beginning of the new rotary year, with our annual Induction ceremony.

LET US START ROLLING OUR IMAGINATION. LET US SPREAD THAT GREAT LOVE AND LET IT FLOURISH, THE ROTARY WAY. Good night and God Bless!

President RY 2022-2023

We begin the work of reconstructing our lives and redirecting the future We can only change the future through love. When I said earlier that there is one love I keep holding on to and worth keeping, I was right. There can be no other love worth holding on to and worth keeping than that one great love………………. It is the love for service Fellow Rotarians: As we have been doing for so many years, this is what we will seek to achieve together in whatever programs and projects that we will undertake. Remember, our theme for this year is IMAGINE ROTARY.
