Letter from the Publisher

I always look forward to this time of year when the rhythm of life slows just enough to savor the simple joys around me. Farmers markets are in full swing, fresh greens growing rapidly, and patios invite long conversations with neighbors and friends. I love how this season takes shape through small rituals, familiar comforts, and the company of people who nurture our well-being inside and out. I hope you’ll find that same spirit woven throughout these pages.

Fit City Magazine is Oklahoma City’s go-to wellness and lifestyle publication, proudly serving OKC, Edmond and Norman metro. Our mission is to empower the community to live well through expert guidance, inspiring local stories, and thoughtful recommendations across fitness, nutrition, beauty, mental wellness, family health, and more. We shine light on expert voices and standout businesses such as fitness classes, spas, medical facilities, and healthy local eats. Through a dynamic mix of print and digital storytelling, we connect readers with the people and places shaping a healthier, happier Oklahoma.

This issue offers fresh perspective and local insight. We talk with medical experts addressing ADHD, OCD, and generalized anxiety, opening up conversations that are both timely and deeply relevant. Alongside this, we highlight leading-edge laser treatments and current advancements in women’s health, offering insight into options that support healing and enhanced approaches to care. You’ll find events that uplift our community, local causes worth showing up for, and ideas for fall fun, including a visit to the new OKANA Resort and the family friendly atmosphere at Boombox Beach Club.

We hope this issue becomes a small part of your fall rhythm—something to flip through between errands, workouts, and moments that bring you back to yourself.

Training for HYROX in Oklahoma City

Looking for a new fitness challenge that pushes both your strength and endurance? HYROX is one of the fastest-growing competitive fitness races in the world, and F45 Oklahoma is helping everyday athletes prepare to take it on.

HYROX is designed as an entry-level competition, but it’s intense and pushes you out of your comfort zone from start to finish. The event combines functional strength movements with endurance running, and every competitor completes the same course regardless of age or experience. For many, the thrill comes not just from completing the competition but from training with intention in the months leading up to race day.

STORY BY FIT CITY MAG

Tamra Gould, General Manager at F45 Oklahoma, says the key to success is a focused plan. “We recommend pairing one to two HYROX-focused classes each week with a strength day and our F45 Run Club,” she shares. “I love that you can train alongside people who are going to the HYROX competition. The energy is contagious.”

F45’s programming naturally builds a foundation for HYROX preparation. Members are already used to functional strength movements, interval work, and cardio bursts. What the HYROX-specific classes offer is more tailored training to simulate competition day. Participants work through sled pushes, wall balls, rowing, farmer’s carries, and more — all essential components of the event.

Most participants train for 8 to 12 weeks prior to competition. In that time, members get familiar with the structure of the race and gradually increase their stamina and performance on each station. F45 coaches provide modifications and pacing strategies, so whether someone is a seasoned athlete or new to fitness competitions, they feel ready to go.

The next big event for F45 Oklahoma athletes is HYROX Dallas, taking place November 21–23. Several members from local studios are already signed up and in the middle of their training cycle.

“I

started F45 classes about 1.5 years ago. I really like the variety of the classes and training equipment that is used daily. The erg machines are used for cardiovascular development that is not found at other gyms. Within a few months of training I was introduced to Hyrox by my daughter. My first competition was in Hong Kong where I placed 1st. That gave me the opportunity to attend the World Championships in Chicago in June. I proudly placed 13th in my age group. I could not have competed so strongly without the support of my Coaches and the training that was provided by F45.“

ADHD, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and OCD:

Quiet Struggles with Real Impact

What if something as fundamental as your mood quietly shapes the way you experience everything else—your patience, your clarity, your productivity, your ability to connect?

Imagine more ease. Stronger relationships. A longer lifespan. Being a more present parent, partner, or friend. The answer is likely yes to all of that. But how? And why?

Because our perception is our reality, and perception is powerfully shaped by mood. And yet, many people live with a quiet question running in the background: “Is this just how life is?”

You’re grateful for what you have. On paper, everything looks fine. But still, it feels like you’re running just to stay in place. You tell yourself it’s just stress, or your personality, or the pace of life. But what if it isn’t?

What if the exhaustion you feel at the end of the day isn’t from doing too much, but from managing an invisible tension you can’t quite name? What if the low-grade frustration, the mental clutter, the flickering motivation aren’t personal shortcomings, but quiet signals that something deeper is going on?

We’re taught to try harder. Get organized. Stay grateful. But sometimes the issue isn’t effort, it’s how your brain is wired to move through the world.

These are common conversations we have with clients who describe being grateful for their life, yet struggle privately. These are not personality flaws or lapses in willpower. These symptoms could point to ADHD, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, or ObsessiveCompulsive Disorder. They share overlapping symptoms but have very different underlying causes and treatments. Misdiagnosis is common. Without accurate insight, people may pursue the wrong solutions, wasting time and silently sacrificing their quality of life.

At Resilient Psychotherapy and Psychiatric Services, PLLC, we help adults uncover the real reason behind their mental exhaustion. Because misdiagnosis doesn’t just delay healing, it undermines confidence. The good news is that with the right support, lasting change is likely.

UNDERSTANDING THE KEY DIFFERENCES

ADHD often shows up in adults as difficulty focusing, impulsivity, emotional swings, and forgetfulness. It’s tied to disrupted dopamine and norepinephrine activity, especially in areas that regulate executive function.

GAD (Generalized Anxiety Disorder) centers on excessive, persistent worry. It can lead to muscle tension, poor sleep, irritability, and mental loops of “what if” thinking. This reflects an overactive amygdala and HPA axis.

OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder) is marked by intrusive thoughts and compulsive actions. These rituals are meant to ease distress but often lead to shame, guilt, and avoidance. OCD involves overactivity in brain circuits tied to fear and control, along with serotonin imbalance.

WHY THESE CONDITIONS GET OVERLOOKED

All three can look similar on the surface — distractibility, restlessness, mental fatigue. High-functioning adults often mask symptoms with rigid routines (OCD), hyperfocus (ADHD), or overachievement (GAD). Social expectations and gender bias can further cloud the picture. For example, anxiety in women is often minimized or mistaken for personality quirks.

WHEN TO SEEK HELP

You don’t need to wait until things fall apart. Many people benefit from support long before symptoms become disruptive. Even subtle patterns like chronic overthinking, emotional fatigue, or difficulty focusing are valid reasons to reach out.

OUR APPROACH

At Resilient Psychotherapy and Psychiatric Services, we specialize in untangling complex diagnoses with expertise and compassion. Our private-pay model gives you direct access to your provider, with no red tape and no surprise bills.

We offer:

• Comprehensive psychiatric evaluations

• Therapy informed by neuroscience and evidence-based practices

• Over 20 years of provider experience

• Medication management when appropriate

• On-time refills and appointment access

• Private, quiet spaces for care

Mental health concerns don’t have to be extreme to matter. If your mind feels chaotic or stuck in survival mode, you are not alone. The clarity you deserve is possible and closer than you think.

We take time to understand the full picture so you can find real clarity.

Bringing the Beach Indoors

When temperatures start to dip in OKC, finding a space that fuels both fitness and fun can be a challenge. BoomBox Beach Club offers a unique solution in the 70,000+ square foot indoor and outdoor sand facility located in the Adventure District. With eight climate-controlled indoor courts and six outdoor courts shielded from wind and sun, BoomBox delivers year-round fitness in a lively, tropical-style setting. BoomBox is much more than courts and matches. The club attracts families by offering junior leagues, open-play hours, youth clinics, and weekend tournaments that give kids and adults alike an accessible way to stay active. During open-play times, typically late afternoons and early evenings, families converge for spontaneous games, laughter, and quality time on the courts.

Playing in sand delivers real fitness value. The textured surface is kinder on joints than hard courts and invites deeper engagement from muscles, improving balance, strength, mobility, and flexibility. Even casual sessions provide a greater workout and encourage more mindful movement.

But BoomBox doesn’t stop at sport. The sand transforms into a peaceful canvas for wellness with yoga sessions and conditioning classes right in the courts. These sessions use the softer surface for grounding, balance work, and breath-centered movement, all in a vibrant, community setting.

When your workout winds down, the café and bar open up. Their menu includes performance-focused smoothies, açaí bowls, wraps, and recover-friendly flatbreads. Self-serve taps and a casual atmosphere make this the perfect spot for families to refuel, connect, and relax together.

What brings people back isn’t just the physical benefits, it’s the culture. BoomBox built its space to encourage connection. Directional sound systems at each court let groups play their own music, lounges invite socializing, and event nights keep things fresh. It feels like a community hub, not just a fitness center.

With fall settling in, BoomBox is rolling out sand-based classes, family-friendly events, and junior camps to keep routines moving strong. Picture early-evening family leagues, kids’ sand yoga, and parents joining evening conditioning sessions. It’s a way to swap screens for sand, deepen family ties, and set up routines that last all season.Supporting facilities like outdoor showers, ping-pong, cornhole, a pro shop, and an observation deck ensure every visit is an experience. It’s easy to forget you’re in the heart of Oklahoma City.

Fall at BoomBox offers the perfect mix: more fitness without the joint strain, family connection off the screens, and moments of calm in an active, social space. It’s wellness built around play, recovery, and togetherness, and is an inviting hub as the weather cools down.

For active families, fitness newcomers, weekend warriors, and anyone curious about sand-centered movement, BoomBox offers a stand-out experience. The club taps into OKC’s need for accessible, engaging activities that keep bodies moving and communities connected all year long.

To explore league schedules, book open-play sessions, or sign up for fall yoga or junior leagues, visit boomboxokc.com.

Get ready to dig into a season of sand-fueled fun with the whole family.

Donnybrook Boxing Club Redefines the Modern Workout

Boxing is back, but this time, it’s not just for fighters. At Donnybrook Boxing Club, CEO & Founder Reza Koranki and President & Head Coach Joe Garcia are bringing boxing to the modern fitness world in a way that’s technical, empowering, and surprisingly welcoming. Their signature boxing method mixes authentic boxing with functional training, building both physical power and mental resilience.

We sat down with Reza and Joe to talk about the philosophy behind Donnybrook, what sets their approach apart, and why boxing might just be the workout people didn’t know they needed.

STORY BY FIT CITY MAG
Reza Koranki and Joe Garcia bring a new level of fitness and function to the boxing gym experience.

Q: Let’s start with the big picture. What is Donnybrook Boxing Club, and what makes it different from other fitness spaces?

Reza: Donnybrook is a boxing gym, but not in the traditional sense. We took the best of old-school boxing training and reimagined it for today’s fitness community. You’ll learn real boxing technique, but you don’t need to be a fighter to belong here. We’ve created an environment that’s high-energy, challenging, and completely accessible to all fitness levels.

Joe: Most people come in thinking they’re going to get a good workout, and they do. But what keeps them coming back is how they feel after. It’s not just sweat and soreness. It’s confidence. It’s community. It’s that feeling of doing something hard and walking out better for it.

Q: Tell us about the Box and Burn method. Why has it resonated so much with your members?

Joe: We offer Donnybrook curated curriculum as well as 1-on-1 sessions, however we are also the only licensed Box and Burn facility in Oklahoma City. Box and Burn is a full-body fitness experience rooted in boxing fundamentals. You’re hitting pads, working footwork and combos, but you’re also doing strength circuits, mobility drills, and high-intensity intervals. It’s fast-paced, fun, and incredibly effective. The method itself was created by Tony Jeffries, an Olympic Boxing medalist, so it’s grounded in elite-level training that’s been made approachable for everyday athletes.

Reza: What makes it different is that we’re not faking the boxing part. You’re learning real skills from real world-class coaches, but in a format that’s built for general fitness. That said, Box and Burn is only part of our training offering. Some members come in expecting a standard circuit or HIIT class, but we also have boxing-only sessions that focus heavily on technique and movement. So no matter what kind of workout you’re looking for, from Box and Burn, technique and sparring, or 1-on-1 training you’ll find it here. Every round demands your full attention, mentally and physically and is massively rewarding.

Q: Boxing has a reputation for being intimidating. How do you make first-timers feel at home?

Reza: We’ve been intentional about creating a culture where people feel supported the minute they walk in. There’s no ego here. Whether it’s your first day or your hundredth, we meet you where you are. Our coaches break down the technique clearly, adjust for all fitness levels, and make sure everyone feels seen.

Joe: And the community plays a huge role. Our members cheer each other on. They know what it’s like to be new, and they help others through it. That camaraderie makes a big difference.

Q: What kind of results do people typically see, and what keeps them coming back?

Joe: Physically, boxing builds lean muscle, boosts endurance, and melts fat. But the bigger transformation is mental. We’ve had

people tell us they sleep better, handle stress differently, and feel more in control of their lives. It’s not just a workout. It’s a mindset shift.

Reza: When you throw punches, you tap into something primal. It challenges your body, yes, but it also sharpens your focus and builds real self-trust. People come back because it’s one of the few workouts that trains your body and mind at the same time.

Q: What’s next for Donnybrook?

Reza: We’re growing the community, expanding our classes, and exploring programs for teens and athletes. Long-term, we plan to continue to invest into the community through hosting and sponsoring events, challenges, and even other locations, but only when we are sure we can maintain our culture and focus on the member.

Joe: We’re building something that lasts because boxing isn’t a trend. It’s a lifelong tool for strength, growth, and resilience.

NEWBORN CLASS (0-3 MONTHS)

In the newborn class, moms learn to navigate early parenthood with confidence. Topics include infant feeding, sleep strategies, postpartum recovery, soothing techniques, and how to tune into a baby’s cues. The environment is warm and open, encouraging questions, community support, and open discussion.

INFANT CLASS (3-6 MONTHS)

As babies grow, this class helps moms understand milestones like introducing solids, teething, sensory development, and routinebuilding. Moms are encouraged to share their experience and learn from each other while gaining insight from trusted professionals. The emphasis is on supporting both mom and baby during a season of rapid change.

RISING TODDLER CLASS (6-12 MONTHS) - COMING SOON!

Here, the focus shifts to early communication, movement, curiosity, and fostering independence. Moms receive guidance on safe exploration, behavior cues, language development, and how to navigate the shift from baby to toddler. It’s also a chance to reflect on how far both mom and baby have come.

SECOND-TIME MOM CLASS

This class is designed for moms with a newborn and at least one older child. The group offers practical tools and emotional support for balancing the needs of multiple children, managing guilt, resetting expectations, and rediscovering joy in the chaos of multi-child motherhood.

BREASTFEEDING SUPPORT GROUP (FREE TO ATTEND)

Moms at any stage can participate in this peer-led support group, designed to help navigate milk supply, latch issues, pumping routines, and feeding transitions. It’s a safe space for encouragement and honest conversation.

One of the most powerful parts of the New Mom School Edmond experience is the community it creates. Ashten Child, who participates in the infant class with her son Hendrix, called it “the biggest blessing of people over perfectionism.” Surrounded by other moms in the same stage of life, she formed friendships that quickly extended beyond the classroom. Daily group chats and late-night support during pump sessions created a bond she could truly rely on.

“The teachers are a breath of fresh air and always so helpful. The first time I showed up to class with my baby carrier and diaper bag overflowing, our teacher, Yasmin, offered to hold things and help me get all set up in our classroom. I just about cried. You expect to do this alone. This big, hard journey of getting a tiny human out of the house for the first time. And there’s New Mom School to the rescue, coming alongside to make even getting to class a blissful and calm experience.”

Barbara Cochran, another mom at the school, shared how much the program has meant to her: “After moving to Oklahoma and facing a difficult pregnancy far from family, I found myself overwhelmed and isolated. New Mom School became a place to breathe, to connect, and to heal. I’m so grateful for the community I found here and the hope it helped me rediscover. It’s been a reminder that even in the hardest seasons, there’s always hope. I’m incredibly thankful to be here, and because of New Moms School, I’m looking forward to building friendships with other moms who are walking their own beautiful, messy, and brave journeys too.”

In addition to their class offerings, New Mom School Edmond is active in the community, sponsoring upcoming events like Nurture Fest 2025, Bump Fest 2025, and the 405 Mama Mixer this October. These events further their mission to create real spaces where moms feel seen, supported, and celebrated.

Red Light Therapy is the Glow-Up Your Body Deserves

Red light therapy isn’t just a trend. It’s a science-backed treatment delivering full-body benefits that go well beyond the surface. At Red Light Recovery in Norman, Oklahoma, this non-invasive therapy is helping clients feel better, recover faster, and glow from the inside out.

Also known as photobiomodulation, red light therapy involves exposing the body to low wavelengths of red or near-infrared light. Unlike ultraviolet light, which can damage the skin, red light works at the cellular level to activate the body’s natural healing processes and reduce inflammation.

Here’s how it works and why it continues to grow in popularity.

INCREASES COLLAGEN PRODUCTION FOR FIRMER, SMOOTHER SKIN

Collagen is the protein responsible for strong, elastic, youthfullooking skin. As collagen production declines with age, fine lines, sagging, and dullness become more noticeable. Red light therapy helps reactivate fibroblasts, the cells that produce collagen and elastin. With regular sessions, many clients report firmer, brighter skin and a noticeable improvement in tone and texture.

This skin-supporting benefit is one of the most popular at Red Light Recovery, where many notice a refreshed glow within just a few weeks.

CALMS INFLAMMATION

AT THE CELLULAR LEVEL

From joint stiffness to muscle soreness, inflammation plays a role in many types of discomfort. Red light therapy targets inflammation by energizing mitochondria, increasing ATP production, and supporting the body’s ability to repair damaged tissue. With improved circulation and cellular energy, recovery happens more efficiently and with fewer setbacks.

This makes red light therapy a valuable option for those managing daily stress, autoimmune flare-ups, or high levels of physical activity.

SUPPORTS NERVE HEALTH AND NEUROPATHY RELIEF

Red light therapy has shown promising results for those living with neuropathy and nerve-related discomfort. By improving blood flow and cellular oxygenation, it can help reduce tingling, numbness,

and nerve pain. For many, this gentle and non-invasive option offers much-needed relief and supports long-term nerve regeneration.

At Red Light Recovery, this has become an important part of care for clients managing chronic conditions.

RESTORES SKIN CLARITY AND TONE

In addition to anti-aging benefits, red light therapy promotes overall skin renewal. By boosting circulation and encouraging faster cell turnover, it helps calm inflammation and reduce concerns like acne, uneven texture, and dullness. Many clients report healthierlooking skin with fewer flare-ups and a more balanced complexion.

STIMULATES CELL GROWTH AND ACCELERATES RECOVERY

One of the most exciting benefits of red light therapy is its ability to enhance overall cellular performance. Healthier cells mean faster healing, improved immunity, and better day-to-day energy. Whether recovering from a recent injury or simply trying to stay ahead of daily wear and tear, red light therapy helps the body recover more efficiently.

This full-body benefit is what makes red light therapy such a valuable wellness tool. It helps maintain momentum, improve how you feel daily, and support the body as it adapts to life’s demands.

At Red Light Recovery in Norman, clients experience these benefits in a clean, comfortable setting, guided by a knowledgeable team. From first-time sessions to regular recovery routines, the team is dedicated to making the experience effective, approachable, and restorative. To learn more about red light therapy or to schedule a session, visit redlightrecovery.com. This wellness investment could be the key to feeling and functioning your best—inside and out.

Chronic Pelvic Pain Relief through Pudendal Nerve Stimulation

Pudendal Nerve Stimulator (PNS) is an emerging and highly promising therapy for individuals suffering from chronic pelvic pain and pudendal neuralgia. The pudendal nerve, which stems from the sacral nerve roots (S2–S4), controls movement and sensation in key pelvic areas. When this nerve becomes damaged or entrapped, patients often experience persistent pain while sitting, genital burning, genital tingling, genital numbness, and even bladder, bowel, or sexual dysfunction.

STORY BY FIT CITY MAG
Pudendal nerve stimulation offers a transformative solution for individuals living with chronic pelvic pain.

HOW PERIPHERAL NERVE STIMULATION WORKS

Peripheral Nerve Stimulation (PNS), also known as pudendal nerve stimulation, involves placing a small electrode adjacent to the pudendal nerve—typically accessed using real time xray guidance in the deep pelvis. Once implanted, a wearable device delivers gentle, pulsed electrical signals that modulate nerve activity and block pain transmission to the brain. Clinical trials support its effectiveness, with many patients reporting significant pain reduction, decreased reliance on pain medications, and improved quality of life.

WHERE IT FITS IN CARE

Pudendal nerve stimulation is typically reserved for patients who have not found relief through conservative methods such as medication, physical therapy, nerve blocks, or surgery. It is especially valuable when a nerve block provides temporary relief, indicating that neuromodulation may offer long-term benefits.

PATIENT SELECTION AND PROCEDURE

Ideal candidates for this treatment include individuals who:

• Have been diagnosed with pudendal neuralgia

• Experienced temporary relief from a pudendal nerve block

• Have not responded to traditional therapies for pelvic and genital pain

The procedure is minimally invasive and performed on an outpatient basis. The stimulator generator and lead while implanted under the skin are externally powered, which means patients do not require internal batteries.

RECOVERY, SAFETY, AND CLINICAL SUPPORT

Patients are generally able to resume normal activities shortly after implantation. However, certain movements, such as excessive bending or stretching, should be avoided during the early weeks to reduce the risk of the lead moving in the pelvis. The treatment is well tolerated, and adverse events are rare and typically mild, such as temporary discomfort or site irritation. A growing body of research supports the use of pudendal nerve stimulation for managing chronic pelvic pain, showing sustained pain relief, improved function, and enhanced emotional well-being in a high percentage of patients. The pudendal nerve stimulator system is uniquely designed to be

flexible and customizable, offering targeted stimulation of various peripheral nerves, including the pudendal nerve.

WHERE TO GO FOR TREATMENT

Dr. Benjamin Barenberg, a fellowship-trained and boardcertified urogynecologist in OKC, has incorporated pudendal PNS into his treatment approach for patients with chronic pelvic pain. With advanced training in minimally invasive pelvic surgery and pelvic floor disorders, Dr. Barenberg now offers Pudendal Nerve Stimulator (PNS) to carefully selected patients.

“The pudendal nerve stimulator offers a new minimally invasive option for those with refractory pelvic pain,” says Dr. Barenberg. “The best part is I don’t have to convince you of how well it works — the test phase lets you take the device for an effectiveness test drive prior to full implantation. It gives you the opportunity to make a clinical judgment for yourself with real-time therapy feedback.”

Individuals typically undergo this trial phase to determine if the device offers sufficient relief before committing to permanent implantation. This approach ensures that patients move forward with confidence, backed by their own experience and results.

Pudendal nerve stimulation offers a transformative solution for individuals living with chronic pelvic pain. As more providers like Dr. Barenberg bring this therapy into their practice, patients in the Oklahoma City metro have increased access to non-opioid, long-term pain relief. The partnership between expert clinical care and cutting-edge technology is changing what’s possible for those suffering from one of the most complex and debilitating forms of pelvic pain.

A Higher Standard in Women’s Health

Dr. Ronni Farris leads a private women’s health practice in Norman, Oklahoma, that offers a thoughtful and modern approach to care.

Dr. Ronni Farris leads a private women’s health practice in Norman, Oklahoma, that offers a thoughtful and modern approach to care. Her clinic is a place where patients feel seen, not rushed, and where their concerns are taken seriously even when answers have been hard to find elsewhere.

She treats a full spectrum of gynecologic needs, from preventive care and birth control to hormone management and surgery. Many patients seek her out during transitional times in life, when clarity and trust matter most. Her process is direct, thorough, and focused on long-term outcomes. Patients appreciate how quickly she follows up, how clearly she communicates, and how comfortable they feel asking questions they’ve held in for years.

Her work also extends into body confidence and aesthetic care, not as a separate offering but as a natural extension of her medical philosophy. These services are built for women who want to feel more aligned with their health goals and how they show up in the world. Treatments are discreet, medically informed, and rooted in the same care-first approach as her clinical work.

One patient recently shared, “Dr. Farris took the time to really understand what I was dealing with and never made me feel rushed. She got to the root of my issue and moved quickly to get a treatment plan in place. I finally feel like I have a doctor who actually cares.”

Many women arrive at her office after months or even years of frustration. They’ve been told their symptoms are normal, age-related, or insignificant. Dr. Farris takes a different approach. She investigates thoroughly and builds plans that reflect the full picture, not just the most obvious symptoms. She believes patients should never feel

dismissed or overlooked. Even subtle symptoms deserve thoughtful attention, and many women find relief and clarity once they receive care that actually addresses the cause — not just the surface.

She also speaks openly about eliminating shame and stigma in care, especially around weight. Her weight loss services include both prescription and cash-pay options, guided by testing and clinical expertise. She does not generalize or lecture. Instead, she meets patients where they are and helps them move toward where they want to be, with dignity.

Dr. Farris offers an efficient, patient-friendly model of care which is built for women who value straightforward, resultsoriented care delivered by someone they trust. She provides clear billing with no surprise costs, offers timely follow-ups, and ensures consistent communication between visits. For those needing surgical intervention, she works closely with hospital partners to streamline scheduling and continuity of care.

For women navigating complex health decisions or simply looking for a physician who listens, Dr. Ronni Farris provides a refreshing alternative—blending clinical excellence with authentic connection.

John F. Kennedy Community Service Awards Gala

On September 25, Oklahoma City will shine a spotlight on civic leadership and philanthropy as the Santa Fe Family Life Center hosts its annual John F. Kennedy Community Service Awards Gala. This signature event honors Oklahomans whose work has transformed lives and inspired a culture of service across the state.

Held at 7 p.m. at the Civic Center’s Meinders Hall of Mirrors, the evening celebrates individuals who embody the spirit of President Kennedy’s call to service through action, impact, and unwavering community commitment.

Among this year’s honorees are Tim and Liz McLaughlin, revered community leaders and champions for Oklahoma City’s youth. Through their nonprofit Fields & Futures, they’ve rebuilt over 50 athletic fields across OKC public schools, using sports as a powerful tool to keep students engaged in school and life. Their charitable foundation also invests more than $1.8 million annually in local nonprofits addressing family support, education, and systemic barriers. Their hands-on approach and lasting impact exemplify the heart behind the Mark Ruffin Lifetime Achievement Award.

Following that legacy of service, the John F. Kennedy Community Service Award is being presented to Joe Castiglione, Vice President and Director of Athletics at the University of Oklahoma. Since 1998, Castiglione has guided OU Athletics to 25 national championships and more than 100 conference titles. But his greatest victories go beyond sports. Under his leadership, OU student-athletes have contributed thousands of hours to outreach programs each year, and Castiglione has consistently championed character, mentorship, and lifelong service as core values of the university.

Coach Sherri Coale, another John F. Kennedy Community Service Award honoree, spent over two decades leading the University of Oklahoma’s women’s basketball team, guiding them to multiple NCAA Tournament appearances and three Final Fours. Off the court, Coale is a passionate advocate for education, women’s leadership, and giving back to the community. Her work continues to uplift future generations— through coaching, mentorship, and public service.

Why This Gala Matters for Community Impact

While the night honors remarkable individuals, it also fuels something even greater. The JFK Community Service Awards Gala directly supports the Santa Fe Family Life Center’s expanding impact across Oklahoma City, funding programs that serve individuals with disabilities, veterans, seniors, and underserved youth.

As Executive Director Josh Norman explains:

“The JFK Gala honors remarkable Oklahomans whose contributions continue to shape our state. We are thrilled to recognize this year’s inspiring recipients. Every contribution helps advance our mission at the Santa Fe Family Life Center, strengthening partnerships with organizations like Wings, the OKC Indian Clinic, and Positive Tomorrows. Your support allows us to expand services for individuals with disabilities, veterans, seniors, and underserved youth throughout Oklahoma City.”

Join us in honoring these leaders and supporting a mission that serves thousands across Oklahoma City.
