ERO si trova in strada. Un tag che si ripete, ossessivo, per tutta Firenze e a cui ho sempre fatto caso. Tre lettere che sembrano suggerire qualcosa di esatto, nella parsimonia del linguaggio. Un malinconico memento alla sostanza tossica, pensavo. O un poetico e nostalgico imperfetto dell’infinito essere. No. ERO non è un pensiero pieno ridotto a una forma breve, ma un fatto breve che ha trovato la sua forma esatta. Pur trovandosi, in maniera compulsiva, su tutte le pareti, e le cabine, i pali, in tutto il tessuto urbano della città, ERO non vuol dire nulla. È il risultato dell’accostamento di tre lettere che, tra le altre, formano il nome del writer trentenne. «Il vero writer è come una ragazza anoressica», dice, «lei dimagrisce e continua a vedersi grassa. Io scrivo e continuo a vedere troppi muri bianchi». ERO: la sua esattezza ha qualcosa di musicale. Il suo tag ha la chiarezza e il vuoto stesso di una nota. Si ripete,

ENGLISH VERSION>>>> ERO is in the streets. A repetitive, obsessive tag spread all over Florence. Even though it’s everywhere – walls, telephone boxes, lamp posts… – ERO doesn’t mean anything. It’s just three letters which form the real name of the 30-years-old writer. «The real writer is like an anorexic girl who loses weight but keeps on seeing herself fat. I write but keep on seeing too many white walls», he says about himself. ERO is a tag then, but it’s not a sign of narcissism or vanity. It’s a way of communicating something unforeseen. ERO has been tagging Florence for ten years without mentioning politics or spread protests, because his tag is his graphic way of existing. As Japanese’s koan, ERO’s graffiti don’t necessarily have to make sense or to be «solved», they just need to be «absorbed». ERO is not just on walls but on trains too. He sprays them at nights and doesn’t care if it’s hot or cold, bad or good weather. Once he made a back jump (an “assault” to a public mean of transportation) during daytime spraying carriages while the train was stopping at the station for a few minutes, then waited for hours to see his work passing again by. A week ago I was on a train going to Milan. While the carriage was leaving Florence station I looked outside and saw ERO tags everywhere. He has a naïf style that celebrates the comedy of art, creating multiple meanings for those who want to pay attention. •
