A south facing terrace stretches along the back of the house, perfect for eating outside or basking in the sun. A second, separate, double garage provides lots of storage, along with another garden shed. The paddocks are to the left of the property, about six acres in all?? which is cut for hay by a local farmer, and would make ideal grazing for horses, or as a smallholding.

The owner has lived here for over forty years, originally as a working farm whilst they brought up their family. “It’s been perfect for family life with the lovely big garden, which I now enjoy for its peace and quiet listening to birdsong and watching the wildlife. The wood is magical – I love watching the play of light in the trees, and seeing all the wildlife: deer, hares, pheasants and partridges. And the neighbours are very friendly and kind, although they’re a short distance away,” says the owner. “We have each other’s numbers in case ever in need.”

Thorney Toll on the A47 is nearby where there are two petrol stations with well-stocked convenience stores, and two restaurants with takeaway services – an Indian and an American Steakhouse. Thorney itself, just three miles away, is a pretty village with a large pub and restaurant - the Rose & Crown - a doctors’ surgery, a golf centre, and The Duke of Bedford Primary School rated Good by Ofsted. Secondary education is either at Wisbech with the highly sought after independent Wisbech Grammar School or (both Ofsted rated Good) Thomas Clarkson Academy, or Neale-Wade Academy in March, all about a fifteen minute drive, or twenty minutes into Peterborough for more excellent schools.

The market town of Whittlesey and the village of Eye are even closer for shopping and other amenities, whilst the A47 road link into Peterborough means it is an excellent location for commuting with fast trains to London taking less than an hour, and also where you can access the A1.
