Pohangina Valley "STAY IN OUR SPECTACULAR BACKYARD" Daytripping, weekender or staycation- there's something for everyone to experience.

There are two camping grounds in Tōtara Reserve, one large site, Kererū, which is adjacent to Camp Rangi Wood's accommodation blocks and hall/kitchen, and one smaller site, Kahikatea which is across the road. If you are coming from Feilding, once you reach the Tōtara Reserve turn-off (Pohangina Valley East Road), keep travelling north until you get to the Highland Christian Camp then veer off to the left. Amenities on site include toilets, showers, electric BBQs, a 'back to roots' adventure playground, powered and unpowered tent sites, and river access. Kahikatea campground is opened for camping from Labour Weekend through until the end of April. Tōtara Reserve’s Kererū campground recently saw Horizons Regional Council contract the removal of poplar trees to improve safety at the popular site and provide an opportunity to plant native species in the area. The numerous bush walks remain while these improvements were undertaken and other camp improvements, including water upgrades, increased pest control and biodiversity programmes will continue to be made. Bookings can be made during the open season by contacting the caretaker on 06 329 4737. To learn more about Totara Reserve Regional Park visit:
