Our mission is to implement proactive safety measures that protect our customers, staff, guests, and equipment while ensuring a positive experience for everyone. Management reserves the right to deny entry or remove anyone from the premises who fails to comply with the rules established by the City of Farmers Branch. All members and guests must obey staff at all times.

Code of Conduct

The following Code of Conduct applies to all who visit or participate in programs and activities. As a member, participant, or guest, you agree to the following:

• Understand that the Aquatics Center, Branch Connection and Recreation Center is a controlled-access facility. All persons entering the facility must have a membership, a day pass, participation in a fee-for-service recreation program, or guests attending a private reservation event.

• All users are obligated to conduct themselves in a courteous and respectful manner, ensuring that their behavior does not disrupt or interfere with the enjoyment of the facility by others.

• All members and guest shall comply with all applicable written rules and guidelines, as well as adhere to any verbal instructions provided by staff.

• Individuals shall refrain from engaging in any behavior, attire, or language that is abusive, threatening, or disruptive to others.

• Respect the personal belongings of others and as well as the as well as the Aquatics Center, Branch Connection, and Recreation Center’s property. Destruction or defacement of City property, including litter, is prohibited.

It is also your responsibility to notify staff in a timely manner of any address, phone number, email, credit card, or household changes

• Keep all City of Farmers Branch facilities a drug, alcohol, and tobacco-free environment (including smokeless tobacco) & promptly report all illegal drug, alcohol, and tobacco usage immediately.

• Posting, advertising, private coaching or lessons, or soliciting individuals in the Aquatics Center, Branch Connection and Recreation Center for personal businesses, services, or agencies is strictly prohibited.

• Managers on duty may eject or suspend a person from the Aquatics Center, Branch Connection, and Recreation Center for violation of rules, not following staff instruction(s), harassment of staff, or any other act deemed detrimental to the safe and orderly operation of the City of Farmers Branch facilities. In the case of serious misconduct, Police personnel will be dispatched. In cases involving children, parents will be notified, and in some cases, Police personnel will be called.

• The City of Farmers Branch does not permit or tolerate inappropriate conduct. This includes using loud, abusive, offensive, insulting, demeaning language, profanity, lewd conduct, or any conduct that harasses or bothers members or guests or staff. The staff is authorized to take all necessary steps to enforce this Code of Conduct. Failure to comply with this Code of Conduct may result in the suspension and/or revocation of your facility access and privileges and forfeiture of paid fees.

Photo/Video Policy

Photography or video recording is permitted at all City of Farmers Branch facilities and events on city-owned property, except where posted otherwise.

Cancellations by the City of Farmers Branch

If a course is canceled due to low enrollment or other reasons, participants may choose one of the following options:

• Register for another available course.

• Keep the funds on account for future use.

• Request a full refund.

Memberships

All members must have a photograph taken for security purposes. A replacement fee of $5 may apply for physical cards.

Resident Membership Definitions

• INDIVIDUAL: Individual is defined as ages 3 - 49 years of age.

• ACTIVE ADULT: An individual 50 years of age or older.

• CLASSIC: An individual 62 years of age or older.

• FAMILY: Immediate family members are defined as adult couples and their dependent children up to 22 years of age. If your family has extenuating circumstances, please see facility manager. All familymembersmustliveinthesamehousehold.

Proof of Residency

Resident rates are only available to those who live within the city limits of Farmers Branch. You must provide proof of residency the first time you register to receive the resident rate. The only acceptable forms of proof include a valid driver’s license or state identification card or a current gas, electric, water, or trash/recycle bill that shows your name and address. City of Farmers Branch residency is verified using the following: farmersbranchtx.gov/1360/City-Council-District-Look-Up website.

Cancel Your Membership

To cancel a Monthly Membership, the primary account holder must submit a Membership Cancelation Form by visiting fbparksandrec.com

Yearly Memberships may be refunded at a prorated amount, based on the number of months that have elapsed since the membership was purchased, and calculated at the monthly membership rate. No refunds will be given on expired annual memberships or for unused time passed in the membership period before the date the refund request is received.

Swim Lessons have specific registration dates, please refer to the Aquatics section for detailed information.

Register on Time

Although participants may still enroll after a class begins, families are encouraged to enroll in a timely manner. Waiting until the last minute might result in the class you want being full, or if enrollment is low, the class may be canceled. Registration can be done online, in person, or over the phone.

All class fees are based on a four-week session per month unless otherwise noted. Classes affected by holidays and other conflicts may be prorated. Holidays may affect class schedules. Check with a staff member for details. Only registered participants may enter the activity area. Pre-registration is required for all classes.

Cash, checks, American Express, Discover, Mastercard, and Visa are accepted as forms of payment.Cash refunds will not be allowed.

Financial Assistance

Financial assistance is available to qualifying Farmers Branch residents for a variety of activities at the Community Recreation Center and Aquatics Center. See staff for information on how to qualify. A maximum of $100 per child (up to age 18), per fiscal year (October - September) may be received. Financial assistance is limited to one class per session, per child. Payment of 50 percent of class fee is due at time of registration. Ask about financial assistance for supplies as well!

Kids Zone Childcare

Childcare is offered for children ages six months to nine years. Kids Zone hours are Monday - Thursday 9 - 11 a.m, Monday - Thursday 4 - 8 p.m. and Saturdays 7:45 - 10:35 a.m.

The cost of childcare is free to members. Reservations are accepted up to 2 weeks in advance. Reservations are required and are limited. Monday - Thursday afternoon time slots are two-hour limit, two different slots 4 - 6 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m.

A liability waiver and childcare form must be completed and on file for each child. Every child must be signed in and out each time the child visits Kids Zone.

Parent must remain at the Recreation Center or Aquatics Center while child is in care. Children may not attend if they are ill. Approved staff/ child ratios will be followed. Doors must remain closed when children are present. All personal items must be labeled. No peanut products allowed. Payment for childcare services is made at the Recreation Center’s front desk prior to entering the Kids Zone.

SilverSneakers, Silver & Fit, Renew Active!

Most health insurance plans offer programs to help you maintain a healthy lifestyle as an active adult through physical and social activity.

Programs like SilverSneakers, Silver & Fit, and Renew Active give you free access to wellness programs and fitness equipment to help you have a sharp mind and a fit body. Your insurance provider may cover your membership to the Branch Connection Active Adult Center, the Farmers Branch Community Recreation Center, and the Margaret Young Natatorium.

Parks and Recreation Board Meetings

The board makes recommendations in connection with the operation of the park facilities and recreation programs and other matters requested by the City Council or City Administration. The meetings are typically held on the 3rd Thursday of the month at the Community Recreation Center regarding the operation of the park facilities and recreation programs and other matters requested by the City Council or City Administration.

This year, the Farmers Branch Aquatics Center takes center stage, earning recognition for its exceptional social media efforts, particularly its innovative approach to fostering community connections. The 2024 Best of Aquatics edition celebrates the operational, management, and programming achievements that define top-tier aquatic facilities. This special 10thanniversary issue prominently features the Farmers Branch Aquatics Center's remarkable contributions over the past decade, underscoring its commitment to excellence and innovation.

The Texas Recreation and Park Society North Region (TRAPS) awarded the Aquatics Specialist, Ally Chambers, “Part-Time Employee of the Year.” The award is to recognize an exceptional part-time or seasonal employee in either parks or recreation.

The Texas Recreation and Park Society North Region (TRAPS) awarded the Parks and Recreation Department the 2024 Park Design Excellence Award for Joya. Joya now stands as a vibrant, dynamic space that redefines outdoor recreation and strengthens our community's connection to nature and one another.

The Texas Recreation and Park Society North Region (TRAPS) awarded the Historical Park the 2024 Excellence in Programming award for the Charcuterie Workshop. The Historical Park’s class helped individuals create beautiful charcuterie boards with their hands-on, step-by-step instruction and guidance.

FREE with Fitness Membership

Whether you are looking for the fun of Zumba or the challenge of Indoor Cycling, we offer a Flex Fitness class that meets your needs. Flex Fitness classes are included at no cost with your Fitness membership. Classes do not meet on holidays.

Day passes are available for purchase for non-members. Day passes are valid for any Flex Fitness class and expire at the end of the purchase day. Day passes are available for $7 for residents and $15 for non-residents.

Improve your range of motion, strength, and flexibility with this mobility focused class that incorporates mindful movement practices that you’ll recognize from Pilates, yoga, and barre. Class limited to 20 participants.

Sculpt your hips, thighs, abdomen, and upper body with a variety of aerobics, weights, floor work, and yoga-like stretching. Class limited to 25 participants.

Why just bike when you can Bike & Burn? This class is the best of both worlds. The first part builds cardiovascular strength and endurance with low-impact, highly efficient indoor cycling. The second half is carefully designed resistance training to boost the metabolism. The intensity is controlled by the individual so all fitness levels can benefit. The class is limited to 12 participants. No class on the last full week of the month.

ZUMBA

This class will focus on learning age-appropriate techniques and developing gross motor skills, balance, musicality, and performance skills. Phillips Factory Basketball Training Program

This program is an innovative approach to basketball training in that each aspect of the game is specifically broken down into a simple step by step process. Athletes will learn the rules of the game, player positions, high level skills, conditioning, and basketball I.Q. Everyone is treated with respect and patience throughout their training experience. Athletes at every level can expect to become the best player they can and be capable of competing as one of the best players on their basketball team. We build discipline, focus and mental toughness through the implementation of our structured curriculum-based approach which progresses our athletes step by step. Introducing Homeschool Open Play, an exciting open-play program where students can enjoy freedom and creativity in our spacious gym! This is a fantastic opportunity for kids to explore, socialize, and engage in various playful activities at their own pace – without any instructors guiding the play. Our gym is designed for endless fun, providing plenty of room for games, imaginative play, and group activities. Children can jump into traditional sports, create their own games, and develop friendships in a supportive environment!

Holiday Craze: Spring Break

Holiday Craze is a recreational day camp program operated by the Farmers Branch Parks and Recreation Department. Holiday Craze is open to children ages 6 - 13 years. The program meets from 7 a.m. - 6 p.m. most weekdays during C-FBISD holiday breaks at the Farmers Branch Community Recreation Center, located at 14050 Heartside Place. The program includes on-site activities, entertainment, field trips, and more! Call 972-247-4607 for additional information. Dates are based on the C-FBISD school calendar and are subject to change if the school calendar changes. Registration for the spring session is currently underway online at fbyouthcamps.com. No in-person registration.

May 23 - August 11 (excluding July 4) | 7 a.m. - 6 p.m. weekdays

Summer Funshine is a recreational day camp for children 6 - 12. The program meets weekdays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 23 - August 11 during C-FBISD's summer break at the Farmers Branch Community Recreation Center. The program takes a break on Memorial Day and Independence Day. Activities include s wimming, field trips, character development, arts and crafts, and much more. The C-FBISD’s Summer Food Service Program provides free breakfast and lunch when available. Each participant also receives a program t-shirt.

Registration Information - Dates, Prices, Payment Schedule

Registration is available online only at fbyouthcamps.com. In-person registration is not accepted. Financial assistance is available on a limited basis to qualifying Farmers Branch families. Proof of residency is required for those seeking the resident rate or financial aid. Families with outstanding fees must reconcile account balances before registering for the program.

Two Payment Options Available:

The total program cost is the same regardless of the selected payment option. Fees are based on the total number of program days. Fees may be adjusted if the summer break is shorter or longer than the C-FBISD academic calendar.

Teen Leadership Program

The Teen Leadership Program is a recreational and community service-based program for teens. The program meets at the Farmers Branch Community Recreation Center. Activities include volunteering with the Animal Adoption Center, Parks Projects, The Branch Connection, Aquatics Center, and other special projects/events. Other activities include swimming, fitness activities, and themed parties. When available, complimentary breakfast and lunch are provided through the C-FBISD’s Summer Food Service Program (check the website for updated information). Each participant receives a program t-shirt.

Swim Lessons

The Farmers Branch Aquatics Center offers a variety of swim lessons for a wide range of ages and abilities. Below is a list of session dates, times, and prices. Not all levels are offered at all times. Refer to the online schedule at farmersbranchliving.com or contact the Aquatics Center front desk at 972-919-8720 for details regarding swim lesson levels, inclement weather, refund policies, and additional information. All participants must be registered before entering the swim area. Guests not potty trained must wear a swim diaper.

Group Swim Lessons are for ages six months to 12 years, including Parent-Tot, Preschool Levels 1-3, and Youth Levels 1-4.

Swim Assessment

This assessment is for those new to the Farmers Branch Aquatics Center Learn-to-Swim program or those who have spent more than three months between classes. At no additional charge, participants may come to the Natatorium for a swim-level assessment using the Farmers Branch Aquatics Center Learn-to-Swim program criteria. Participants must be at least three years old. Participants will be in the water for approximately 5 minutes and tested on swim skills (front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, elementary backstroke, etc.). This assessment does not guarantee registration spots for participants. Aquatics Center members receive resident pricing. See the pricing information and schedule below.

Scout Swim Test

Do you need to complete your required Scout Swim Test? Enroll in this activity, and a staff member with an American Red Cross Lifeguarding or Water Safety Instructor certification will administer and fill out your Swim Classification Record form. Pre-registration is required; no walk-ins will be allowed.

Sign your kiddo up for two camps for a discounted price through our W.A.L.K. Program. Your child will go through one of the Junior Lifeguarding courses as well as the Junior Swim Instructor course. Each participant will learn the basic lifeguarding responsibilities one week and will learn the proper techniques of teaching swim lesson all through safety in and around the water the following week. Both camps will have the opportunity for participants to shadow actual lifeguards and swim instructors.

The Junior Lifeguard Program introduces participants to skills needed for entry to the American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Course. Participants will learn communication and decision-making skills, and the basic responsibilities of a lifeguard. The program does not certify participants in the American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Course. Participants must pass basic swimming skills test prior to registration. Ages 11 - 14 years old. Bring swim suit, towel, change of clothes, and lunch. Participants will have a chance to shadow guard during class. A lunch break will be provided.

All entries will be displayed in the Library during National Library Week (April 6-12) and a winner from each age group will be selected by the Farmers Branch Arts and Culture Committee.

Innovation Zone

The makerspace at the Manske Library provides patrons hands-on, engaging ways to make creative projects with a variety of tools and technology. The IZ features a 3D printer, Glowforge, Cricut, and more! An IZ library card and signed user agreement is required to use the equipment in the room. Some equipment requires safety training and a certificate of completion. Walk-ins are welcome pending equipment availability. Reservations are required for specific equipment.

Library of Things

The Library of Things collection features a variety of kits available for patrons to enjoy at home. Kits are available for checkout to all nonTexshare adult cardholders with an account in good standing and a signed Innovation Zone user agreement. Kits can be checked out for 7 days. Everything must be returned in its original condition.

Residents of Farmers Branch are eligible to obtain a full-access card at the Library free of charge with a valid photo ID and proof of residency. This card allows patrons to check out up to 50 items at a time, 10 of which can be DVDs, and provides access to all of the Library’s digital resources.

The Easter bunny is ready to hop on over to your house!

Each household will receive 20 filled eggs with small candies, a letter from the Easter Bunny (one per family), a brief outdoor meet-and-greet, and a photo opportunity (weather permitting) with the Easter Bunny. Time slots range from 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. Limited to a five-mile radius of the Farmers Branch Community Recreation Center. Reservations begin February 1. Call 972-247-4607 or come by the Recreation Center to reserve your timeslot.

Join us at Gussie Field Watterworth Park next to City Hall. Rawhide Creek will be stocked with over a ton of farm-raised catfish and bluegill! Fantastic prizes will be given to brightly tagged fish, with chances to win in our opportunity drawing! We'll provide bait, and fishing poles will be available to borrow. Kids can enjoy face painting, temporary tattoos, and much more!

Come celebrate with us our multicultural celebration Gateway to the Globe. This event showcases the rich traditions and cultures of our city's diverse residents. Enjoy a day filled with marketplace vendors, performances, and food trucks offering flavors from all around the world. Activities include face painting, a Ninja Nation course, piñata breaking and so much more you won’t want to miss it all the planned festivities.
