Home Winterization Tips

PROTECT YOUR HOME AGAINST WATER LEAKS

When temperatures are forecasted to drop below freezing, follow these tips to prepare your home.

• Insulate exposed pipes, particularly in crawl spaces and along exterior walls.

• Disconnect outdoor garden hoses from faucets and, when possible, drain outdoor faucets by turning off their water supply and draining any remaining water.

• Open cabinet doors under sinks so that warm air can circulate around the pipes.

• Allow faucets to drip slightly to keep a constant flow of water.

During Bulk Pickup Week, February 3-7, the Green Grabber will pick up bulk items such as furniture, large appliances, and other items that cannot be placed in a garbage bag. For more information, visit farmersbranchtx.gov/brushbulky.
