CITY OF FARMERS BRANCH, TEXAS

City Manager’s Contract Extended

Consistency of operations is crucial for any organization’s employees and customers. It enhances the organization’s reputation, while creating stability and building an efficient work environment; and, most importantly, consistency supports customer trust. When we know that management and operations will continue in a consistent manner, it brings a level of comfort to everyone.

With this in mind, the City Council proactively reviewed City Manager Ben Williamson’s contract during the July 11 budget retreat. Councilmembers initiated this effort to reinforce their support for the direction the City is headed and the value of retaining top talent.

Williamson attributes his success to the employees and the culture of the organization. “Being the City Manager of Farmers Branch is truly the best job in the world,” said Williamson. “We have an amazing team, with strong support from our City Council and residents who love their community. I believe the best is yet to come.”

Williamson’s contract was extended for a total of three years. He is currently serving the first year of his contract.

our road map for the Future

On August 1, the City Council adopted the City of Farmers Branch Comprehensive Plan, a 20-year road map for the future. The purpose of the plan is to establish a city-wide vision, collective goals and an implementation strategy for the development and redevelopment of property within Farmers Branch for the next two decades. City staff and the consulting firm, Stantec, have been working on an updated plan for the last year. The process involved multiple town hall meetings, pop-up events, walk shops and online surveys. In total, more than 360 citizens attended in-person events and 300 online surveys were completed, adding input to the vision and guiding principles of the plan.

National Preparedness Month

was started in 2004 and is sponsored by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The goal is to have a secure and resilient nation with the capabilities to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from the threats and hazards that pose the greatest risk to our community.

Early preparation for unexpected events is a necessity. You cannot predict when the next emergency will hit, but you can be prepared to survive. For more information, visit ready.gov; and, for weekly preparedness tips follow the Farmers Branch Fire Department on Facebook.

Rated PG | Tickets Starting at $32

This musical comedy features our favorite ghoulish American family. In the kooky, upside-down world of the Addams Family, to be sad is to be happy, to feel pain is to feel joy, and death and suffering are the stuff of their dreams. This original story embraces the wackiness in every family.
