EDITOR’S NOTE
by AnnC Editor-in-Chief
As we embark on the second quarter of 2025, time truly feels like it’s racing by! This quarter has brought us numerous exciting milestones here at Envision Magazine. We’ve taken our first steps into event sponsorship, launched giveaways and if all goes according to plan, we’re set to unveil our very first website in the next few months. It’s been an amazing journey, and we couldn’t be more grateful for our readers and supporters.
Often, we wonder about the impact we’re making in the world, and just when we start to doubt, we receive encouraging mail or a call from several people expressing their appreciation for the magazine. It reminds us that we may be small in number, but we are mighty in publishing a great magazine, and we are continuously blessed with talented writers, loyal advertisers, and an influx of submissions from the host of Envision Radio.(www.envision-radio.com)
We have some new writers with new perspectives this issue ! Please be sure to read, share & subscribe to our free publication. Thank you in advance!
On the cover is Bishop Marcus Dixon & his lovely wife Minister Linda Dixon and family. He is constantly making a difference in his community in Radcliff. Ky. Be sure to visit them online on all social media platforms and listen to their program on Envision Radio Mondays at 7pm EST at www.envision-radio.com.
This year, we’re also thrilled to have my daughter interning with us. At just 16 years old, she brings a

fresh perspective and energetic touch to the magazine that has enriched our team’s work. Recently, she won an art contest for Women’s History Month in Huntsville, Alabama, sponsored by Rosie's International Services, Inc. Her painting of Kamala Harris was not only inspiring but was also showcased at the downtown Huntsville library. She truly is a blessing to our family.

Top Ten with Bishop Marcus Dixon & Minister Linda Dixon
by ANN C. Editor-in-Chief
1. How do you view the role of the church in addressing social issues within our community?
The church plays a vital role in addressing social issues within the community. Historically, it has been a place of refuge, support, and guidance for individuals and families, often stepping in to meet immediate needs while also advocating for broader systemic change.
2. Can you share how God influences your leadership style and decision-making process?
Absolutely, faith often profoundly shapes leadership style and decision-making, providing a moral compass, a sense of purpose, and a framework for interacting with others.
3. What are some of the biggest challenges you face in your ministry today, and how do you overcome them?
Ministry, while deeply rewarding, comes with its own set of unique challenges. Here are some of the biggest challenges I imagine ministers face today, along with ways to overcome them:
● Burnout and Overwork: Ministry often requires a lot of emotional and physical energy. The constant demands—preaching, counseling,
administration, and outreach—can lead to burnout. To overcome this, it’s essential to prioritize self-care, seek support from fellow ministers, and set boundaries.
● Cultural Relevance: In a rapidly changing world, it can be difficult to connect faith with modern issues like social justice, technology, or mental health. Overcoming this requires staying informed, engaging with the community, and being open to adapting ministry practices while staying true to core values and teachings.
4. **Interfaith Relations**: How do you foster dialogue and cooperation among different faith communities in the area?
● Creating Safe Spaces for Open Dialogue: One of the most effective ways to foster interfaith cooperation is by creating safe spaces where people can engage in open and honest conversations about their beliefs. This could include organizing interfaith forums, discussion panels, or small group gatherings where individuals from various faith backgrounds share their experiences and perspectives. The goal is not to convert others but to understand and appreciate the diversity of beliefs.

● Emphasizing Common Values: While there are certainly differences in religious practices and beliefs, most faiths share common values such as compassion, justice, peace, and service to others. By focusing on these shared values, communities can unite around common goals. For example, partnering on social justice initiatives, charity work, or community service projects can help build bridges and create opportunities for collaboration.

5. Youth Involvement**: What strategies do you implement to engage young people
Engaging young people in the church is essential to building a strong, vibrant community for the future. There are several strategies that can help connect youth to the church in meaningful ways, making their faith journey relevant and impactful. Here are some effective approaches:
Create Relatable and Dynamic
Traditional services might not always resonate with young people, so incorporating elements of contemporary worship—such as modern music, multimedia, and interactive elements—can make church more engaging.
Offer Youth-Specific Programs: Providing age-appropriate activities such as Bible studies, mentorship groups, or youth-led services helps create spaces where young people can explore their faith in a setting that speaks to their unique experiences. These programs should focus not only on teaching but also on creating a sense of community where
youth feel supported and understood.
6. Sustainability and Stewardship**: In what ways is your church addressing and encouraging stewardship ?
Stewardship is a key aspect of Christian faith, as it involves responsibly managing all that God has entrusted to us—our time, talents, resources, and the environment. Encouraging stewardship in a church setting goes beyond financial giving; it’s about cultivating a mindset of generosity, responsibility, and care for God's creation.
7. Mental Health Awareness**: How do you support mental health and wellness within your congregation?
The question of personal inspiration is such a deeply personal one, and for many, it can come from a variety of sources—both people and experiences. Jesus Christ:
For any Christian in ministry, the ultimate inspiration often comes from the example set by Jesus Himself. His compassion, selflessness, commitment to justice, and unwavering love for others serve as a model for how to live and lead. His servant leadership, healing of the broken, and dedication to God’s will provide the foundation for ministry, reminding us to serve others with humility and love.
8. Community Service Initiatives**: Could you highlight some of the most impactful outreach programs your church has undertaken recently?
● The ministry with Signature Health Nursing Home in Radcliff, Kentucky, is a beautiful example of giving back to the community, especially to those who may feel isolated. It’s a great
reminder of the importance of community and fellowship, no matter where we are in life.
● Our work with Brother to Brother Academy is also deeply impactful. The focus on education, mentorship, and life skills development for young men is vital in shaping future leaders.
● And we work with Men of the Light and the emphasis on practical life skills. Teaching young men how to be resourceful and prepared for real-world challenges is invaluable.
● The Helping Hand of Hope Affordable Christmas Campaign is another standout initiative.
● Finally, The Making a Difference Conference is an excellent platform for community leaders to come together and collaborate for the greater good. I’m sure it will have a lasting impact on all those who attend, with its focus on purpose-driven work in business, education, and government.
9. Who or what has been your biggest inspiration in your ministry?
These are a powerful and profound list of influences in our ministry! It’s clear that we’ve been surrounded by an incredible group of spiritual leaders and mentors, each playing a pivotal role in shaping our faith and ministry journey. From my wife, Lady Minister Dixon, to Bishops Wagner, Brady, Franklin, McQueen, Burrell, Elliott, and my Bishop brothers, I’ve had such a rich foundation of teachings and guidance. The experiences we’ve had, especially the teachings in Germany, seem to have really made an indelible impact on our ministry. And to hear how each person contributed to our calling—from our introduction to
ministry at Hanscom Airforce Base to the current leadership we received—is inspiring. It’s a testament to the power of community, mentorship, and faith in action. Our gratitude and recognition of those who helped shape our journey are so heartwarming. It's a reminder of how important it is to honor those who pour into our lives and ministries.
10. What is your vision for the future of your church and its role within the community ?
A vision for the future of the church should be dynamic, adaptable, and deeply rooted in the core mission of the Gospel while responding to the evolving needs of the community.
Ultimately, the vision for the future of the church is about adapting to the changing needs of the world while staying true to the eternal message of the Gospel. The church should be a light in the community, reaching out with love, offering hope, and transforming lives through the power of Christ.

Divine Discernment Is for The Divinely Mature
by Bishop Marcus and First Lady & Minister Linda Dixon of House of Manna bread of life Church www.hombolchurch.com
Good morning, beloved. Today we’re going to explore an important concept that is vital for every believer: Divine Discernment. Specifically, we’ll talk about how this discernment is a gift for those who are spiritually mature. Our key focus will be understanding the Hebrew and Greek terms for discernment, the role of divine maturity in receiving it, and how it plays out in our walk with God. Let’s begin by examining the first part of our theme—Divine Discernment.
1. The Meaning of Divine Discernment
The term “discernment” in Scripture is more than simply having knowledge or awareness. In the Hebrew, we encounter the wordִּןיב) bin), which means “to understand” or “to discern.” It speaks of a deeper level of insight, a spiritual perception that goes beyond surface understanding. This is the kind of discernment that allows us to “see through” the natural world into the spiritual reality that surrounds us.
In the Greek, the word αἴσθησις (aisthēsis) further expands our understanding of discernment. It refers to “perception” and is described as the ability to recognize the truth behind appearances. In the context of Christian maturity, this is the subtlety of judgment, the ability to discern between good and evil, right and wrong, truth and deception.
When we talk about divine discernment, we’re referring to a type of perception that comes from God—supernatural wisdom that enables us to navigate life in alignment with His will. This divine discernment is a gift, something that we can’t gain through intellect alone but only through the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
2. Divine Discernment and Maturity
Let’s now move to the second part of our theme—Divine Discernment is for the Divinely Mature.
We see in Hebrews 5:13-14, the Apostle Paul speaks to the church and says:
“For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness; for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses

Photo by Peggy Anke on Unsplash
exercised to discern both good and evil.” Notice here that discernment is directly tied to spiritual maturity. In the natural world, a baby can only handle milk because it hasn’t developed the capacity to process solid food. Similarly, spiritually immature Christians can only handle the basic teachings of the faith. They are still on "milk."
But, as Paul continues, strong meat—which is a metaphor for deeper, more profound spiritual truths—belongs to those who are of full age. The Greek word for "full age" here is τέλειος (teleios), which means mature, complete, or fully developed. This maturity is not simply chronological, but spiritual. It’s the maturity that comes through experience, discipline, and growth in the Lord.
It’s important to note that spiritual maturity doesn’t just come with time; it comes with intentional growth. Hebrews 5:14 speaks of those who have their “senses exercised to discern both good and evil.” This is a process. As we grow in the knowledge of God’s Word and practice it, we develop the ability to discern the difference between good and evil.
3. Divine Discernment and the Role of the Holy Spirit
Now, I want to emphasize that divine discernment is not something we can obtain on our own. It’s a gift from God, and it requires the Holy Spirit to guide us. In fact, the Holy Spirit is the ultimate source of discernment in our lives.
We see in 1 Corinthians 12:10 that discernment is listed as one of the gifts of
the Spirit:
“To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits…”
This discerning of spirits is a special gift that allows us to perceive the presence of good or evil spirits, to understand the motivations behind actions, and to make decisions that are aligned with God’s will. The more we mature spiritually, the more attuned we become to the voice of the Holy Spirit, who reveals truth to us and helps us navigate the complexities of life.
4. Divine Discernment and Its Practical Application
How does this divine discernment practically work in our lives?
First, it allows us to make godly decisions in situations that may not be clear-cut. How often do we face circumstances where there isn’t a clear “yes” or “no” answer? It’s in these moments that divine discernment is crucial. The Holy Spirit gives us the wisdom to know how to respond.
Second, divine discernment helps us avoid deception. In a world full of false teachings, false prophets, and distractions, it’s easy to be led astray. But when we are spiritually mature and have developed our discernment, we are able to recognize the lies of the enemy and stand firm in the truth of God’s Word.
Finally, divine discernment enables us to understand the deeper things of God. As we grow in our relationship with Christ, we
begin to understand His Word on a deeper level. We are able to grasp the mysteries of the kingdom of God, not because we are smarter, but because the Holy Spirit reveals them to us.
5. The Call to Spiritual Maturity
Now, as we close, I want to encourage you to pursue spiritual maturity. As Paul wrote in Ephesians 4:13-15:
“Until we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ… but speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ.”
Maturity in Christ is a process. It requires us to continually grow, to hunger for more of Him, and to walk in the Spirit. As we do so, we will grow in our discernment, and we will be able to navigate the complexities of life with the wisdom of God.
Remember, divine discernment is for the divinely mature. It is a gift that comes to those who seek it, who press into God, and who grow in His grace and knowledge. So, let us commit today to pursue maturity in Christ, that we may be filled with His discernment and live lives that honor Him in every way.
May God bless you and give you wisdom and discernment as you seek to grow in Him. Amen.

DIABETES TYPE 1 AND 2
By Karla Jarvis, MSN, APRN, FNP-C
JFMS Medical Consultants, LLC
Host of Karla’s Korner Radio Show www.envision-radio.com
Diabetes is an umbrella term for multiple conditions that cause dysfunction in the body’s ability to metabolize glucose, secrete insulin, or both.
When you take in glucose (sugar) from the foods you eat, you need a hormone called insulin. Insulin is released by beta cells from your pancreas. When insulin reaches the cells in your body, it attaches to receptors that help the cells identify and take in glucose from your bloodstream.
● Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune condition that most commonly develops in childhood, but can occur at any age. With type 1 diabetes, the body attacks the beta cells of the pancreas, limiting their ability to produce insulin. Without enough insulin, the cells cannot take in glucose, which, in turn, causes high blood sugar levels.
● Type 2 diabetes is a type of chronic condition that often starts in adulthood, but can begin in childhood due to obesity. With type 2 diabetes, it becomes harder for your body to recognize insulin, a condition called insulin resistance. Without an adequate insulin response, it becomes
harder for your cells to take up glucose, and as a result, blood sugar levels rise.
While type 1 diabetes is solely caused by a lack of insulin, type 2 diabetes can be caused by both a sensitivity to insulin and a lack of insulin.
However, insulin deficiency in type 2 diabetes is not autoimmune. Instead, it happens because the pancreas cannot keep up with the increased demand for insulin due to insulin resistance.
If you suspect you or someone of having diabetes please contact your primary care provider for an examination and complete necessary testing.

RENEWAL
By Mia Pile Mental Health Advocate, Certified Instructor & Author Co-Founder
Pain Unwasted www.painunwasted.org
Psalm 138:8 declares,
“The Lord will perfect that which concerns me; His mercy endures forever. Oh Lord, do not forsake the works of Your hands!”
As a survivor of my own suicide attempt, I often reflect on how desperately my understanding of God—and of myself—needed renewal. I didn’t realize how many lies had taken root in my mind, waiting to be exposed, confronted, and healed. It was as if I had been walking around mid-surgery, the anesthesia wearing off, raw and reeling for change. But healing doesn’t stop at the incision—it continues with the closing, the careful stitching together of what was torn, and the patience required to fully recover.
For a long time, I lived in the sensitivity of an open wound, but now I am healing. The
pain no longer manages me; it reminds me of how far I’ve come. The putrefaction that was once unbearable to me and others, has been tended to, mended by LOVE, And though the scars remain, they tell a story—not of despair, but of restoration.
How does it happen, you may ask? I will tell you… I am made better each time I allow myself to sit in stillness and reflect on all that is good in my life. I am made better when I confront my mistakes and shortcomings, not with shame, but with a plan to grow. I am made better when I pause to hear my children’s laughter, deep and full, when I notice the delicate details of a wildflower, and even when I give myself permission to feel sadness or frustration when it comes.
Renewal isn’t a single moment—it is a process, unfolding each day in the little, sacred spaces where healing takes root, often when no one is looking. In those moments I am reminded that God is always at work, perfecting all that concerns me.

Lobster Bisque
Ingredients: Lobster tail, heavy cream, butter, olive oil, celery, carrots, onion, salt, pepper, white wine, tomato paste, micro greens, rosemary, thyme and garlic
Tools: Knife, kitchen shears, tasting spoons, small pot, serving bowl, whisk, rubber spatula and wooden spoon, small skillet
INSTRUCTIONS
Start by rinsing all of your vegetables (celery, carrots and onion), once that’s done you can rough chop them into smaller pieces. Next let’s prep the lobster. With your shears remove the tail fin and set aside (will be used later). Now let’s remove the meat from the shell. Cut down the middle of the shell as well as the bottom then use your fingers to carefully remove the meat from the shell. Do not discard any of the shell, once you have the full tail meat out take your knife and run it down the top of the tail. Try not to cut too deep, once finished you can rinse the meat removing any veins and then set in the fridge.
Place a tablespoon of butter and a drizzle of olive oil into a small pot. Add your mirepoix of vegetables and all of the shell except for the tail fin. Sauté all the ingredients until the veggies start softening. Add in a tablespoon of tomato paste and stir in with the other ingredients. Next step with two cups of white wine let’s deglaze the pan, use a rubber spatula or a wooden spoon to remove any flavors stuck to the bottom. Turn heat down to medium and add 2-3 cups of water, half teaspoon of garlic, sprig of rosemary and thyme chopped fine and let simmer on medium heat. Remove the lobster meat from the fridge and add to the pot, letting it cook for 2-4 min at a low boil after which remove the tail meat and place into an ice bath. After at least 10-12 minutes of cooking time lets strain the stock using your strainer into another pot and return to the heat. Discard the shell and
leftovers and let your stock boil until it reduces by half. By now your kitchen should have an amazing aroma and your stock should have a nice reddish color.
Now once it’s reduced down let’s add some heavy cream a little at a time. You want your bisque to be a pink color. In a separate small pan ad a teaspoon of olive oil and let heat up, once hot take your tail fin and spread it like wings with your hands. Let it cook in the oil until it has a crisp orange and red color then remove from the pan and set aside. Remove the lobster meat from the ice bath and get that heated up at low temp. Your stock should be at a simmer and starting to thicken. Now let’s add some seasonings. Salt, pepper to taste and stir, use small pieces of cold butter to add to the bisque. This makes the sauce rich in texture and also helps with thickening.
Grab your shallow bowl, remove the lobster meat and let rest. Taste your bisque one more time and now let’s plate! Gently chop your lobster tail into small chunks, using a spoon or ladle start adding the bisque to your bowl. Once the bisque is in the bowl now add the chunks of meat to whatever design you like. Add that tailpiece on the top of the bisque, using the micro greens lightly garnish your bisque and there you have it! Lobster bisque!

All Is Well: Embracing the Power of Trust and Resilience
By Lauren Muir, LPCC-S Martin and Muir Counseling, Co-Owner
Mindfest Lou , Co-Founder www.martinandmuir.com
“All is well. Everything is working out for my highest good. And out of this situation, only good will come, and I am safe.”
Recently, a friend of mine sent me this quote . There is something deeply powerful about speaking life over our circumstances, even when they feel chaotic or uncertain. Let’s be honest, nobody likes uncertain situations. These words are not just affirmations; they are declarations of faith, resilience, and trust in a greater plan... Gods plan. They remind us that even in the face of adversity, we are not lost—we are being guided.
The Power of Perspective
Life is full of unexpected turns. There are moments when things don’t go as planned—relationships end, opportunities slip away, doors close. In those moments, it’s easy to let fear and doubt take over. But what if we shifted our perspective?
What if instead of asking, “Why is this happening to me?” we asked, “How is this
happening for me?”
This mindset shift is the foundation of resilience. Resilience is what I like to call the “bounce back” phase. It allows us to see beyond the present struggle and recognize that even the hardest seasons serve a purpose. It’s about having faith that there is a purpose for the journey or hardship that you are going through. Often times, the Growth often comes wrapped in discomfort. Healing sometimes requires breaking. And redirection can be the most divine form of protection. Whew that’s a word!
Trusting the Process
One of the hardest things to do is trust when we can’t see the outcome. Yet, that is where faith is cultivated. Faith isn’t about knowing every step ahead—it’s about believing that whatever step we take, we will land exactly where we need to be. It’s faith that there’s a higher power equipping us with the people we need to get through the storm.
Surrendering to the belief that “all is
well” doesn’t mean ignoring reality. It means embracing the truth that even in the unknown, we are still held. It means affirming that every challenge carries a lesson, and every ending is also a beginning.
Speaking Life Into Your Journey
Words carry energy. What we speak over ourselves shapes how we experience life. Our thoughts fuel our actions. When we affirm that everything is working out for our highest good, we shift from a mindset of fear to one of security.
So, even in moments of doubt, speak life over your journey:
● “I am safe.” You are not abandoned in your struggles. You are supported, seen, and cared for.
● “I am growing.” Every experience—good or bad—is shaping you into who you are meant to be.
● “I am aligned.” Even when the road feels unclear, trust that the right path is unfolding before you.
Only Good Will Come
It’s easy to see setbacks as failures, but they are often the stepping stones to something greater. I don’t get scared of the mistakes or the setbacks anymore. I almost welcome them because I know it’s for the greater good of my true purpose in life. The job that didn’t work out, the relationship that ended, the opportunity that fell through—they may feel like losses, but what if they were actually setting you up for something beyond what you imagined?
When we affirm that “only good will come,” we open ourselves to receive blessings in unexpected ways. We trust that even the closed doors are leading us to something better.
Living in Alignment
To live by this affirmation is to embody peace. It means walking with confidence, even in uncertainty. It means releasing the need to control and instead choosing to trust.
So take a deep breath. Let go of the fear. Stand firm in the belief that all is well. Because even now—especially now—everything is working out for your highest good.
And out of this situation, only good will come. You are safe.

Blak in the Day
Vivianne A. Griffiths
My poetry style tends to use a “call and response” phrasing in several poems, so the reader can mentally or verbally participate in the poem. This takes the reader deeper into the thoughts of the poet. I also have attached quotations or scripture to each poem, as I searched for and reflected on the thoughts of others regarding the topic. Some poems reflect my social justice concerns, personal reflections, observations of time, place and persons, and humor. Laughter is also healing, it’s necessary to have balance. Some poems are very short and others lengthy. It’s my hope it encourages you to write a poem, just because you can! My prayer is that these poems will instill reflection and hope in your own lives. You will probably read some to which you can relate; if not, reflect about someone else’s life and share to encourage. Purchase your copy at www.ariseandgoforth.com

The reoccurring theme of this collection is light. We all make choices in life. I think we can choose to have our light shine for all the world to see, or we can choose to live in darkness. The choice will always be ours to make. In a dark place, the light will guide us. The light will open our eyes at daybreak and light our path through all the midnights. The challenge is to find that light in our lives, wherever it may be, and hold on. For in finding that light we find our true essence for living. As you read this collection, may you find your light and let it shine every day of your life. Purchase your copy at www.zenobiathepoet.com

Faith in Action: Feeding the Hungry as a Daily Ministry
“I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink...” – Matthew 25:35 (KJV)
Faith is not just a belief; it is action. As followers of Christ, we are called to care for the least among us, not just in moments of abundance, but in our daily lives. At Vitality, my business is more than food—it is a ministry. Every week, we serve those in need, not as charity, but as obedience to God’s command.
In a world driven by profit, choosing to feed the hungry may seem impractical, but the Word tells us that when we care for others, we serve Christ Himself.

“He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the Lord; and that which he hath given will he pay him again” (Proverbs
19:17,
KJV).
True success is not just measured in financial gain but in the lives we touch.
Each of us has something to give. Whether through a business, a kitchen, or a simple act of kindness, we can make faith visible. Let us not wait for opportunities but create them. When we serve with love, we preach the Gospel without speaking a word.
How will you put your faith into action today?
If you are in the Huntsville area and looking for a tangible way to bless someone in need, we invite you to participate in our Vitality Outpost Giving Wall at 2205 University Drive, Unit C, Huntsville, AL. When you purchase a meal for the homeless, it is placed on our wall for someone to redeem, no questions asked. These meals have already been paid for by generous individuals like you, ensuring that when someone hungry walks through our doors, they can pick a meal
from the wall and be fed. Our hours are Tuesday through Friday, 12 PM to 7 PM. Every meal you give is not just food—it is a message of hope, love, and faith in action.
For those outside the area who feel led to support this ministry, donations can be mailed to Vitality Outpost, 2205 University Drive, Unit C, Huntsville, AL 35816. Please make checks payable to Twisted Fork Festival. Every contribution goes directly toward feeding those in need, extending Christ’s love one meal at a time.

The Power of Sacrificial Giving: A Legacy That Transforms Generations
By Berta P. Weyenberg Host of ConBERTAciones www.envision-radio.com
A Seed of Faith
Eighty three years ago, my maternal grandmother made a decision that would shape the future in ways she never lived to see. She donated a piece of her land to establish the first chapel in a countryside village in Cuba. It was not just an act of generosity—it was a sacrifice. At the time of her giving she was heartbroken, betrayed by her family, and living a hard life; but she gave, which proves that faith has nothing to do with personal circumstances. Faith is an act of obedience!
The Heart of Sacrificial Giving
True giving is rarely convenient. It often requires surrender, trust, and a willingness to let go of something valuable. My grandmother gave the land away believing that God could use it in ways beyond her understanding.
Impacting Multiple Generations
Through Sacrifice
My grandmother’s act of faith didn’t just benefit the people of her time—it laid a foundation for future

generations. Because of her giving, a place of worship was established, lives were transformed, and faith continued to grow. Though she never lived to witness the next two generations, her gift is actively impacting lives. By being a leader in church planting and kingdom business, my eldest son is walking in the path my grandmother unknowingly set for us. My “abuela”
created a cycle of generosity and left a legacy that will last beyond our lifetime.

From Doubt to Dominance: Overcoming Impostor Syndrome as a Woman Entrepreneur PART 1
by Phyllis L. Clark, Ph.D Hey, Sis! Enterprises, LLC
Imagine standing in a room filled with accomplished business leaders, yet feeling like you don’t belong. That’s exactly how Cybele Negris, co-founder of Webnames.ca, felt when she won a prestigious award. Despite her success, she thought, “What was I doing here? Sooner or later, they’ll find out I’m not as smart as they think.” Or, imagine turning DOWN opportunities because you didn’t think you were good enough or you were afraid of what people would think about what you would say. That was me.
This is impostor syndrome—a psychological pattern where high-achievers doubt their success and fear being “exposed” as frauds. First coined by psychologists Pauline Clance and Suzanne Imes in 1978, this phenomenon disproportionately affects women entrepreneurs, even when they have a proven track record of achievements.
If you’ve ever felt this way in your business—questioning your skills, feeling like you just got lucky, or fearing that people will discover you’re not as competent as they think—you’re not alone. In fact, studies show that up to 84% of entrepreneurs have experienced impostor syndrome at some point, and new research shows that both women and men are affected by this debilitating issue but they respond to it differently.
Let’s explore how impostor syndrome impacts women in business and how we can break free from it.
First, What Is Impostor Syndrome?
Impostor syndrome is the persistent feeling that you are not as capable, intelligent, or successful as others perceive you to be. Despite evidence of success, women who experience impostor syndrome or feelings of impostor syndrome in certain situations, tend to attribute their achievements to luck, external factors, or over-preparation, rather than their own skills and abilities.
The original study, conducted in 1978, by Drs. Pauline Clance and Rosemary Imes found that high-achieving women were particularly susceptible to these thoughts and feelings. They discovered that women who excelled academically and professionally still felt undeserving of their success, fearing that they had somehow tricked others into believing they were competent.
While impostor syndrome affects both men and women, research shows that women experience it at higher rates due to social conditioning, gender biases, and the pressure to constantly prove their worth. New research now shows that men also experience impostor syndrome but it manifests in their lives differently than women.

In Your Honor

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:28
Sometimes slight changes can affect us in ways we never imagined. In 2019, my life changed. My windshield wasn’t cracked, but I suffered brain shearing. My independence and various abilities were inactive for a period of years. But God had a plan. It still amazes me that He can reposition and repurpose us at His appointed time, without our permission. Remember this.
Through His grace, He allows me to educate and offer healthy alternatives. I can see clearly that I needed a reset and redirection. God has healed me and provides platforms to allow me to help others.
One of those platforms is Stay Brylliant LLC. This small business was created to offer healthy alternatives for hair, skin, and wellness products. Our functional ingredients include premium oils, butters, flowers, and herbs. Commonly used ingredients include olive oil, grapeseed oil, castor oil, shea butter, calendula, and plantain. We include preservatives, as needed. Customers have experienced results they were looking for. Customizations are available.
Remember God will never leave you nor forsake you. He can improve any situation, whether it's family, work, or health. Is there anything too hard for God? Not at all. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD. Stay Brylliant.

Spring into Action

Now when I think of Spring Forward, I think of losing an hour of sleep. Losing anything sounds terrible to me. I don’t care who is at fault, I don’t like to lose. But let’s look at Spring Forward as not a loss but time to get more done, spring into action and make our lives better than before. We didn’t have the nice weather to clean out our closets, plan flowers and spruce up around the house but now we do. We didn’t have the nice weather to travel, explore new places and meet new people but now we do. What about those plans you made and dreams you had at the early part of the year?
It’s now to Spring Forward and more importantly Spring into Action. Get it done. No more one day or someday but start today! Write it down but put due dates beside the goal and then do it. Dreams, goals, plans and desires without action, even if not successful in your eyes is still an accomplishment. Why? You took a chance. You went for it. You started. It wasn’t for
you. The economy changed and so it didn’t work out. So… I would rather start, try and realize that it is not for me than to never try, start, offer the service, build the program, launch the business and die without knowing. That’s failure to me. Spring in Action! Don’t worry about if you fail or not but what if you Succeed and WIN? Let’s go!
