President’s column

For those of you who don’t know; HHUS is a student association for all students at the Umeå School of Business, Economics and Statistics. The purpose of HHUS is handling and supporting our members’ interests by working towards good contact between our members, our school and businesses. Everyone can engage and help our association to thrive by providing their own unique perspectives and ideas. It is an amazing opportunity to meet new people during your study time. Even if you are a rookie, a third-year student or a master student you are always welcome to join!

Life as an engaged HHUS member

As I’m writing this, I realize that it was exactly two months ago I stepped on my position as President of HHUS. In one way It feels as if time has flown by, at the same time it feels like I’ve had this position for ages. What I mean by that is that I feel very comfortable in my position and I feel passionate and excited about finding ways on how I can give my all to contribute to our association in the best way possible. I’m forever thankful for the amazing Board of 2023 that I will be working with this year. A huge praise to the heads and presidium for their innovative thinking regarding how we will work this year with bringing back previous lost events (due to the pandemic), building our brand and engaging more members in HHUS.

Now for the Management of 2023 - what an amazing team! I get amazed every day by the engagement, eagerness to learn and solutions given by everyone. Our management is built on students from different semesters and programs which is crucial when it comes to planning events for everyone and also having a voice from every program. We have also created some new Mästerist positions this year and a few project groups for more specific events. The reason for this is to relieve workload from some positions and also make it possible for more students to be engaged.

Since this is also a perfect opportunity to introduce myself I want to take the opportunity and say “Hi”! My name is Lilly Andersson and I’m studying my fourth semester at the HLP program. I’m from Stockholm but I always knew that I wanted to move up north and study here in Umeå. Last year I had a position in HHUS as the Vice head of the Social committee. I consider this a great experience and I wanted to challenge myself further by applying for President. I’m looking forward to seeing what this year has to offer me and HHUS.

Life as an engaged HHUS member is a memorable experience that will contribute with knowledge, memories and friends for a lifetime! If you have any questions regarding HHUS, how to become an engaged member or just want to get to know me or the board a bit better - Don’t hesitate to stop us in the hallway or (even more likely) we will be in the lounge enjoying some coffee during our study-break!
