Now it’s here; the first number of Ekbladet 2023. My name is Emma, and I am this year’s editor in chief. I have, together with my editorial group, shaped and created the first issue for this year in which we want to shed light on; the life as a student, the exiting and sometimes challenging period of life.

I have been studying all my life, but uni is quite different, and I think most of you can agree on that point. The pressure and responsibilities have now been multiplied since upper secondary school, and it is not always easy to handle. All my life I have been wondering of what I want to do with my life, and I have been so jealous of people around me just knowing exactly what to do. But time is passing and maybe time is what is needed after all, because I finally feel like I have some kind of idea of what is really interesting to me. The insights are landing in me with a calming sense of relief. One of the realizations is that I want to be creative, and the position as editor in chief offers that. I am very excited for this year and having the responsibility for Ekbladet.

Ekbladet is made by students, for students and our goal is to create engaging, fun, and helpful content for all of you. Take the chance to reflect, get inspired and read about your fellow students’ experiences. Challenge yourself with our games included in the paper, and take the opportunity to compete and win a special price in our E-puben competition on page 28-29.

I want to take the opportunity to say a big thank you to Klara Huzell, a student at Umeå Institute of Design, who created our wonderful front page. Klara was given the theme of this issue, the chronicle on page 15 and out of that came up with this super cool image. Furthermore, I want to give a big shoutout to the person that came with the idea of contacting Klara; my mästerist Elliot. He has been helping me a lot with the first publication and deserves all cred in the world! And of course, thanks to our master of sudokus; Jacob, that has created the games included in the paper.

I hope you enjoy this issue of Ekbladet. With that said, I want to say thanks for this time and wish you all good luck with the studies and remember to enjoy the life as a student!
