EIN HAUCH VON SERENISSIMA A TOUCH OF SERENISSIMA

Vom 11. Juli bis zum 29. August finden die 47. Innsbrucker Festwochen mit 48 Veranstaltungen an unterschiedlichen Spielstätten in Innsbruck und Umgebung statt. Dominierende Themen sind heuer starke Frauen und Venedig, die ewige Stadt. // From 11 July to 29 August, the 47th Innsbruck Festival will take place with 48 events at various venues in Innsbruck and the surrounding area. This year‘s dominant themes are strong women and Venice, the eternal city.

Antonia Padoani Bembo, geboren um 1640, war eine untypische Frau ihrer Zeit: stark, selbstbestimmt, Komponistin. Nachdem sie von ihrer Familie zur Hochzeit mit Lorenzo Bembo gezwungen worden war, entpuppte sich dieser als notorischer Lügner und insgesamt recht problematische Persönlichkeit. Antonia floh daraufhin aus Venedig nach Paris und es gelang ihr, am Hof des Sonnenkönigs Ludwig XIV. Fuß zu fassen. „Eine Venezianerin in Paris“ zeichnet das kompositorische Schaffen dieser außergewöhnlichen Frau anhand ausgewählter Stücke nach. Und auch andere kommen zu Wort: Barbara Strozzi und Élisabeth Jacquet de La Guerre, die damit stellvertretend die zwei Leitthemen der heurigen Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik repräsentieren: starke Frauen und Venedig. Aufgeführt wird das Konzert im großartigen Ambiente des Spanischen Saales von Schloss Ambras.

14 Jahre Intendant

Ein starker Mann tritt heuer hingegen nach 14 Jahren ab. Alessandro De Marchi, der noch bei drei szenischen Produktionen selbst am Dirigentenpult stehen wird, gibt die Intendanz ab: „Nach 14 Jahren Intendanz der Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik schließt sich für mich ein wunderbarer Kreis. 2010 stand in meinem ersten Jahr als künstlerischer Leiter Pergolesis ‚Olimpiade‘ auf dem Programm. Heuer wird es Antonio Vivaldis ‚Olimpiade‘ sein, mit der wir die Festwochen eröffnen. Vivaldi und seine Geburtsstadt Venedig ziehen sich wie ein roter Faden durch das Programm.“ Olympische Spiele, musikalisch ausgetragen im Tiroler Landestheater – unter anderem mit den Counter-Stars Bejun Metha und Raffaele Pe – passen schließlich ganz ausgezeichnet in die Olympiastadt Innsbruck.

Gratisangebot In Der Stadt

Während der Festwochen gibt es zudem ein Programm, das für Interessierte kostenlos zugängig ist. Neben Musica montana und den Concerte mobile dürfen auch heuer die Lunchkonzerte nicht fehlen, die traditionell im wunderschönen Pavillon des Hofgartens Innsbruck stattfinden. Kaum an einem Ort lässt sich Alte Musik stilvoller unter freiem Himmel genießen als hier, im historischen Ambiente von Park und Pavillon.

Lteste Konzertreihe F R Alte Musik

Dass die Festwochen der Alten Musik in Innsbruck stattfinden, ist übrigens kein Zufall. Die Tiroler Landesfürsten unterhielten im 16. und 17. Jahrhundert exquisit besetzte Hofkapellen mit herausragenden Musikern aus Europa – unter anderem Paul Hofhaimer, Heinrich Isaac oder Pietro Antonio Cesti. Aus dieser Tradition entstanden 1964 die Ambraser Schlosskonzerte. Sie sind die älteste bis heute bestehende Konzertreihe für Alte Musik. 1976 schließlich gab es die erste Innsbrucker Woche für Alte Musik, aus der letztlich die Festwochen hervorgingen. Antonia Padoani Bembo, born around 1640, was an atypical woman of her time: strong, self-possessed, a composer. She was forced by her family to marry Lorenzo Bembo, who turned out to be a notorious liar and a rather problematic personality.

Antonia then fled Venice for Paris and managed to gain a foothold at the court of the Sun King, Louis XIV. “A Venetian in Paris” traces the compositional work of this extraordinary woman through selected pieces. Others will also have their say: Barbara Strozzi and Élisabeth Jacquet de La Guerre, representing the two main themes of this year’s Innsbruck Early Music Festival: strong women and Venice. The concert will take place in the magnificent setting of the Spanish Hall of Ambras Castle.

14 Years As Artistic Director

This year, however, a strong man is stepping down after 14 years. Alessandro De Marchi, who will continue to conduct three staged productions, is stepping down as artistic director: “After 14 years as artistic director of the Innsbruck Early Music Festival, I have come full circle. In 2010, my first year as artistic director, Pergolesi’s ‘Olimpiade’ was on the programme. This year it will be Antonio Vivaldi’s ‘Olimpiade’ which will open the festival. Vivaldi and his birthplace, Venice, are a recurring theme throughout the programme.” Musical Olympic performances at the Tyrolean Landestheater - including counter stars Bejun Metha and Raffaele Pe - are a perfect fit for Innsbruck, the city of the Olympic Games.

Free In The City

There is also a programme of free events during the festival weeks. In addition to Musica montana and the Concerte mobile, this year’s lunchtime concerts, traditionally held in the beautiful pavilion of Innsbruck’s Hofgarten, are not to be missed. There is hardly a more stylish place to enjoy early music in the open air than here, in the historic ambience of the park and the pavilion.

Oldest Early Music Concert Series

It is no coincidence that the Early Music Festival takes place in Innsbruck. In the 16th and 17th centuries, Tyrolean rulers maintained exquisite court orchestras with outstanding musicians from all over Europe, including Paul Hofhaimer, Heinrich Isaac and Pietro Antonio Cesti. The Ambras Castle Concerts grew out of this tradition in 1964. They are the oldest early music concert series still in existence.
